I grew up watching the "I can't survive without my Mum ads" and my own Mum used Mum.
These days it's hard to find, I had to drive to a supermarket in the CBD to get it and only a choice of pink or purple.
The smell is fresh and light and doesn't overpower perfume. The best part is it dries super fast which makes getting dressed easier as a busy "Mum"
The packaging is functional and hasn't changed since I was a kid. Trusty staple like a "Mum"

The purple Mum roll on scent is the scent of my high school years. It came in an aerosol spray too for a while. It did a decent enough job back then, but I bought it again recently for nostalgia's sake and found that the roll-on ball is a bit small for my liking these days. I must be less whiffy as an adult because I didn't need to reapply it like I did as a teenager. I probably won't replace it when it runs out, there's plenty of other deodorants to try.
I don't use this all the time (I prefer more natural crystal deodorants for everyday) but when I need something stronger, longer lasting and more reliable I always choose MUM 'shower fresh' with the pale blue lid. This is the most effective yet most gentle antiperspirant I have ever come across and I love that the formula and the packaging have remained the same for decades. This is always so affordable, concentrated (the bottle lasts ages) and is always reliable for me. It takes a bit longer to dry as most roll ons do but once it's on I don't have a problem with this staining clothing, feeling dry or cakey or irritating my incredibly sensitive underarms or cause skin darkening as many do. The smell is fresh and clean and just like it quotes on the back of the package 'won't clash with perfume' I find most deodorants overwhelmingly scented with sporty or fruity scents and I like something subtle to smell clean but not interfere with my fragrances during the day.
This is even free of parabens which is important to me and even though it's aluminium containing I don't use it long term and save this for when I need a heavy duty deodorant (I am not particularly sweaty and can get away with natural ones most days) but this always does it's job when I need something heavier.
I remember my mama buying me this as my first teen deodorant and me thinking yay I'm a big kid now!! All hopes of being impressed and in love with it were quickly dashed the first time I used it!
The smell was not my cuppa tea at all! It was powdery smelling, almost like an old lady smell (no offense to older ladies). It left white marks on my clothing which for a teen girl who is already gawky and worried about what others think of her is very embarrassing and is the stuff of teasing material.
I had no choice but to use it until it ran out because tough times and all. I rsented the smell and the white marks and to make matters worse it didn't really keep me dry when I needed it the most. Needless to say I was the laughing stock of the high school PE change rooms. As soon as it was gone I changed to spray straight away and have never looked back since.
The bottle is cute enough but the thought of roll on grosses me out. The thought of sweat on a rolly ball and having to use it over and over quite frankly disgusts me.
I have not and will not ever regret switching to spray on deodorant.
Tips: Let it dry before getting dressed because it leaves white marks
Holy molly! Seeing this product brings back so many memories!! My first ever roll on deodorant and was put through some serious teen tests! It was my go to throughout high school and got me through my sportier days (not that I am in anyway shape or form "sporty" but hey I tried)
It hasn't changed much over the years (packaging included!) and why would it? If it ain't broke don't fix it. I have always liked its shower fresh scent and seeing these reviews promted me to go repurchase a bottle of mum (then beauty review sent me some different deodorant so our house hold is all smelling amazing let me tell you!).
It is very easy to use the roller and dries quickly. I find it is best to shake the bottle before each use just helps the roller (I do this with all roll on deodorants).
Also it is very affordable and lasts forever. I currently have mine in my handbag. I still prefer a spray deodorant over a roller because I am super lazy and spray and walk away is my thing. But I find the roll on lasts well throughout the day and doesn't take up much room in my handbag! BONUS!
MUM is my go to deodorant. I have never had a problem with white marks or not getting enough protection. I have this in every scent (green package is my favourite) and make sure there is always one in my handbag and gym bag. They roll on super easy, dries quickly and take ages before they run out. The affordable price is just another awesome bonus with this deodorant.
I don't normally buy this brand but I was out of my regular and this was on special so I thought I'd give it a go. I'm happy with it but it's just and average roll on. Nothing all that great about it. I don't mind the scent it comes in but I do prefer some of the other brands scents more. The main thing I like about it is that it doesn't sting when I put it on. I can't use any sprays and some roll ons due to underarm sensitivity so I was happy to find that this is one I can use. All in all it's just your average everyday deodorant
I think I've tried most deodorants and roll on's on the market, I like to switch and try different brands and also different fragrances of the roll on's.
This roll on is a classic, most people know the iconic mum roll on! The packaging is simple, yet effective. It is classic and is one I keep on going back to.
The roll on does a great job of protecting me from perspiration and it leaves me feeling clean and refreshed. It hasn't ever irritated my sensitive skin.
Although this isn't my favourite roll on, it certainly does the job well and is one I would definitely repurchase, as it's effective and reasonably priced.
This is my favorite roll on deodorant, I have tried many but always go back to using this one. The packaging is a simple deodorant, there are a variety of scents to choose from. I can put this roll-on on in the morning, it drys quickly and doesn't feel sticky under my arms and it lasts all day. It is also a very affordable price.

But seriously, growing up the ads for this always mentioned 'I Can't Get By Without My Mum'. And for once the advertising was 100% true! This has been my go-to deodorant for so many years now it's actually hard to remember when I first started using it. Maybe when I was 14? 15? When puberty hit for sure. And I'm 99% sure it was the deodorant my mother would use too.
Over the years I've not noticed much of a change in the packaging, it's a simple tube, with a dome head, like a lot of deodorants. It used to come in a variety of scents, but these days there only seems to be two, the purple and the blue one, aka 'Active' and 'Shower Fresh'. Both are lightly scented, but I prefer 'Shower Fresh' as it's so subtle and doesn't interfere with any perfume I'm wearing.
Application is a simple swipe with the roller ball top, it dries super quickly, and I've never noticed any marks on black clothing. But does it do the job? Does it what! I had no idea how good it was until I started swimming with my daughter and would forget to reapply after the lesson. By 5pm I was pongy! Usually I don't notice any whiffiness from my pits, even the next day. This stuff is gold!
Affordable too, usually more affordable than other brands. As for other brands, I've tried them, but so often they sting, they don't work well, I don't like the scent and I always end up going back to my old favourite, because to be honest I can't get by without my Mum.
