I grabbed just one of these nail polishes to try in the shade 'Empurpled'- A shimmery, slightly metallic bright violet. Gorgeous color and densely pigmented.
I'm very impressed with the pigment/ richness in color of this nail polish, it's one of few that I own where only one coat is necessary for a fully opaque and even coverage. It applies smoothly and evenly and dries really quickly.
The cylindrical shaped bottle seems quite large as the cap is equally as wide as the bottle, but it's 13ml which is about the norm when it comes to nail polish. The wand is on the shorter side and brush is nothing remarkable but it does the job just fine.
This nail polish doesn't wear all that well, it's chipping off by day 2, so it may not be for you if you like your nail paint to hold up for the better part of a week.
I think this polish is good value for $5, if I saw it in a shade I really liked while out shopping I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.
I picked up a bottle of MUD nail polish when I needed some last minute to do a look for the international week I did (the German flag!). I have this in the shade 'chili pepper' which - as you'd expect - is a bright, bold red.
MUD Nail Polish is cheap, at $5 ish, but comes packaged with a plastic and cardboard outer, which is unusual for that price range. The bottle itself is round and sleek, with the black screw top cap housing a good, solid brush that is easy to use.
The polish requires a couple of coats to get a decent cover and colour, but sets well, taking less time to dry than expected from a cheaper polish and settling to a smooth, glossy finish which is further enhanced if you add a coat of clear to seal it.
This wears okay - starts to flake in tiny amounts around the edges by about day two and really needs redoing after about day 4, which is fairly standard for polish in my opinion, making this a run of the mill polish which is good for the price, but not one I'd search out in a huge hurry (unless I was in the same position again of having to find something and having limited options.
All in all, you won't be disappointed with this polish if you're only looking for a couple of days from it :)
Tips: It's vital with brighter colours and cheaper polishes that you apply a base coat to protect your nails! I use a couple of coats of clear on the base, and another coat on top of the colour to set and seal it.
