Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening Base and Top Coat

In high school I wasn't much for nail polish/bright colors and I had a bad habit of biting my nails! So this was perfect for me! I would apply it on its own to my nails and it gave me that fresh/strong/clean look! My nails are now thanking me for it today!

Last time I brought this polish, I stocked up. Boy oh boy I love this stuff. It dries quickly, is really strengthening and seems to maintain its easy application (it doesn't go sticky or lumpy for ages). Maybe that's why I brought three at once...?

Although this isn't my favourite topcoat I do think it is a nail kit must have. Doubling as a base coat, it is affordable and works well to keep nails free of staining which makes removing your colour a breeze. It applies nicely and dries quickly so there isn't much waiting around to apply your colour and it does give your polish a nice sheen as a topcoat but it only lasts a couple of days before chipping around the edges. I'd definitely buy it again as I do get a decent amount of use from it as a base coat

I recently got this product as a gift as part of a promotion at Farmers within the Sally Hansen range. I love that it doubles as a base and top coat. It is great at reducing staining on my nails as a result of painting them and I love the nice shine that it gives off too. It works well as a top coat (could be a wee bit better) but I would definitely purchase it again. The brush is a great size as I have smallish hands and find sometimes with other brands the nail brush is too big for my smaller hands.

Double duty, is actually really good. I really like that it is in a clear bottle so you can see how much is left. It says its chip resistant, but on my nails it started to chip within 5 days (which in all honesty isnt that bad for me). It didnt give that shiney look, but its not actually formulated for that. (so no biggy). I did notice that my cuticles wernt rubbish using this, so im guessing it did nourish them as well and semi strengthing my nails. the biggest issue i have with this, is that it is an extremely strong smelling polish, i get a headache from using it, so have to use outside. but other than this, its a good polish :)

I find any 2-in-1 product like this compromises on one or both of the functions it promises. I purchased this when travelling so I didn't have to carry both a base and top coat, and it did an ok job. I din't have very high expectations on account of it being a multipurpose product. It's easy to apply, the brush and bottle are easy to use. I used my bottle up quite quickly and it did thicken when I had about a 3rd left, making it a bit less useful and probably not the most amazing value. It does an average job, you're better off getting a proper base and top coat.

Personally I thought this was a so,so product.

I wasn't insanely wow-ed by it but it did the job. It did its duty in terms of being both a base and a top coat.

I don't necessarily think it was chip resistant either or that it moisturized my nails. But it did have a beautiful shine.

It dried at an okay amount of time. So overall it was a good product and it saves you money but I am still yet to find my holy grail top coat and base coat.

I have recently purchased this as I needed a quick cheap solution, and have been happy with it so far. Obviously as a double-duty product it isn't as good as separate top/base coat would be on their own but it does the job! It protects my nails from staining and the top coat dries reasonably quickly and protects better than it would without anything so I'm happy with it. I wouldn't claim it is entirely chip resistant but it is shiny and hard. The brush size is perfect and it smooths out well. I would purchase again if I needed a double-duty product in a hurry.

After recently rediscovering my love of polished nails (and being in a job that is rough on my hands) I vowed to keep them looking fantastic for as long as possible. This caught my eye at the supermarket and the fact it was base and top coat sealed the deal for me. Chip resistant? Let's check it out. The bottle is slightly concave on one side and nice to hold. The brush glides on, it gets great coverage time and time again. It is helping with the staining on my nails and makes them shine! If I forget to apply the top base, they definitely chip or peel quicker. Top coat is not super shiney but pretty happy with it. Doesn't take too long to dry as a base but a bit longer as a top coat. Pretty good value for money and I'm happy to stick with this until it runs out.
