Definitely worth a try

Woohoo lucky girl i got sent two great colours plus the top coat and the cuticle oil!! Chai on life - 180 is a great neutral colour and Aura'nt you relaxed - 320 is a yummy peachy pink colour. Great size bottle that feels really sturdy and classy. 14.7ml. Love the brush its a shorter bristle than a lot of other brushes and it helps it go on really well and hold a bit more polish. I found it super easy to apply. Strong scent as most polishes have but not enough to make my husband leave the room (which he usually does) With both colours i did exactly the same. Cleaned my nails, applied two coats allowing time to dry between coats and then on one hand i apply top coat and on the other i don't. Im really keen to see if the top coat makes a huge difference or not. Drying time seems similar to most polishes but i tend to do it at night and head to bed straight afterwards.

Love the colours and i get comments on both of them as they provide quite a nice sheen and actually make your nails look great - almost like you've got a gel nail done from a professional!

3 days i get from the hand with no top coat, chipping around edge of my nails and it starts to come away from around my cuticles too. 5 days from the hands with the top coat before it starts to wear away at the edges. So id say its best to do the top coat. Im impressed at how long it lasts as my hands get a hard time with cleaning, dishes and id had a busy few days at work too. Im currently trying it on my toenails and I'm 4 days in so will see how long that lasts as I'm usually wearing polish on my toenails for at least 3 weeks this time of the year :)

Definitely keen to try some other colours as i do think it helps your nails. Super easy to apply. super easy to take off with no stains. And looks great! Well done Sally :)

Tips: Loving the cuticle oil am using it all the time. off to review that now too :)

Good non chip polish

I've been trialling Chai on Life and Red-y to Glow, the amazing top coat and also a gentle Sally Hansen oil. These have been great to trial because I really enjoy having statement nails but often have problems with my nails becoming brittle and the polish chipping off too easily. Well those aren't worries with these new Sally Hansen polishes. My nails have been slowly growing out healthier and less brittle after just two weeks use (2 applications of colour with a few days of just the oil between).

The colours are cute with Chai on Life being a very neutral beige tone, great for the office, and Red-y to Glow being a bright red that builds into a deep dark red with increasing layers of polish. The formulas are a bit strong scented, but not as chemically smelling as other polishes I've tried. It's also quite a thin formula, going on in very light layers. This means that I end up applying 3 thin layers instead of the recommended 2, just to built the colour I like, and I find if I apply the polish thicker it takes a long time to dry.

The shape of the brushes are amazing, only needing 2 swipes at my bigger nails and only one for my pinkies. The bristles are of sturdy material so they don't bend all over the place. However, given the wide end, the wand is quite wide also and I keep worrying about getting it back into the bottle without permanently bending the bristles out of place, or accidentally knocking the bottle over when not holding it.

This polish doesn't chip for days!!! I've had supposedly great polish before, chip resistant and all that jazz, but none have actually walked the walk. These do. Each application it's taken around 4 days before the first chip. On maybe the 3rd day the polish does recede from the tips of my nails slightly, but nothing noticeable by the casual observer.

Tips: Use thinner layers of polish, they dry faster. Then do 3 rather than 2 layers of colour.

Sally Hansen Color Therapy

Nail Polishes - Rosy Quartz - this is a really nice light pink natural colour that would work well for doing a french nail, I just used it over the top of my natural nails and it actually made them look really nice and healthy without looking overdone. My nails weren't in the best condition when I used this colour, due to having damage from acrylics and gels but when I took it off after a week they were looking in a much better state. I did get some chipping/peeling but it wasn't too bad and it wasn't particularly noticeable either, probably due to the light colour.

Ohm My Magenta - wow this is a really bright magenta colour and definitely stands out. I kept noticing my nails all the time when I used this and it was a nice bold colour that got quite a few compliments! Again I did have some issues with it starting to peel off abit after about 4 days, even with the top coat and I had to take it off day 5 as it was starting to look abit horrible, but again I was quite pleased to see my nails looking noticeably healthier and in better condition.

Overall both are really lovely colours, I was also really impressed by the size of the products, they are quite big for a nail polish so I feel there is good value here. They also dry very quickly!

Tips: I would recommend making sure you have a really well aired space to do you nails because the smell of these polishes is super strong, enough to make you feel a bit faint. Definitely not a polish to use in your lounge in the evening unless you withstand these sorts of strong smells well. I sat next to an open window to use them and that worked fine.

One of the best brands of polish in NZ

I'm a nail junkie, it is a weakness and I mainly purchase all my polishes from indie brands as they have the best formulas to last on my nails, however brands found in stores draw me in with the promise of chip proof, vibrant colours most have disappointed me greatly but then Sally Hansen has a good formula that is the best of what is on offer.

There is a great shade range in the colour therapy collection, from pastels to neons, everyday casual and glam everyday darks. Easily applied for even coverage, builds up to fully opaque in as little as 2 coats, offers a great wear time of just under a week if not being to stressful on the nails, but on average they do start to chip on day 4/5 and for me that is the time I fully remove the polish.

Kept out of direct sunlight they hold their colour and usability for a very long period of time and even after a year of none use I can still open a bottle and it will apply like the first day I purchased it.

Sally hansen colour therapy

I have this nail polish in three colours; rose quartz (a light sheer pink) and re-nude (actually is nude) which are both natural colours, and powder room, a metallic/ silvery blush pink colour.

The polish itself is light and smooth. It feels like wearing a coat of nail treatment, but with colour. It doesn’t feel hard on the nails at all. It’s a nice and gentle formula for our delicate nails. This nice and thin formula of does prevent the polish from cracking and chipping, which most polishes do. It comes off cleanly with nail polish remover. The coverage depends on your colour. Rosy quartz is so sheer that you probably prefer to have three coats for a bit of colour. Whereas i only need two coats to cover for re-nude and powder room.

To ensure longer lasting wear, and to prevent your polish wiping off like clumps of dry glue, you pretty much should follow the instructions carefully. Only do one thin coat at a time, and ensure each layer is completely dried before layering the next one. When i didn’t dry the polish properly, or when i applied a layer too thick, the polish didn’t last long at all; I ended up with a few smudges, and dent marks on my nails after doing some simple house work.

Not sure if i just happened to get an applicator with a faulty brush, but i noticed the shape of the brush for the re-nude polish was slightly different to the other two. It felt as if there were less bristles, and it was more rounded, rather than flat. The brush doesn’t fan out upon application like the other two colours, so was less smooth during application, revealing more of the painted brush lines from the bristles. For someone who doesn’t paint nails often, It was a little more challenging to work with this colour, as i had to use more strokes, while trying to keep it thin and even.

Despite this brush difference, there’s plenty of colours to choose from; from nudes to bolds. Although It still does have that nail polish scent, it’s definitely a good polish for beginners to start with, or for those who wants to paint their nails with a more nourishing formula.

Sally Hansen Colour Therapy 522 cashmere calm

I tried this colour nice consistency and fairly easy to apply I got the shade 522 cashmere calm. I am not really into nudes in terms of colours but this soft brown is a good base for putting a sparkly nail polish, clear pearly colour or clear shiny top coat on top of. Or if your good at nail art this beige colour will make it stand out. I was always for a metallic sparkle bright type nail but as I've got older I am getting into more softer pastels pale or sheer tints of colours because I feel they are less obvious when chipped or not well done and currently I am wearing a treatment type polush from Sally Hansen which the colour is almost clear / matches my natural nail plate and gives me natural looking buffed shiny nails. I would try Sally Hansen products again & like the idea or argan oil nourishment I don't think I would buy this particular colour again though but open to others!

Perfect until removal

I received Ohm my Magenta and Powder room to trial, and I decided to go with Ohm my magenta first. It's not really a magenta though, I'd describe it as vampy, deep red. A gorgeous color with a femme fatale kind of vibe.

Holy moly the application was delightful. The brush is wide and dense, and deposits a perfect amount of nail polish. The consistency is probably a tiny bit thinner than normal, but I found that it actually made application less streaky. The color is super opaque, and after two coats it lieterally looked like I had acrylics on. (I was actually asked by multiple people if my nail were fake!) The longitivity is also stellar. By day 4 it had the tiniest of chips along the tips of the nail, but hardly noticeable. I decided it to remove it this morning, after a whooping 6 days! And even then, the chipping wasn't major. So now you're wondering, why didn't she give it five stars? Well the tragedy started when I noticed that the polish of one nail was lifting off like a sticker. So I commited the ultimate nail sin and lifted that whole piece of polish off. It was super satisfying in the moment , but to my horror I looked at the underside and it had taken the top layer of my nail with it O.O Yes, the polish had lifted the very top layer, it wasn't much, but it was terrifying. It didn't hurt or anything, and I guess it was just one layer of cells. But that'd never happened before and I'm never going to manually peel of nail polish ever again.

Aside from that though, removal was great! Despite its deep colour, it didn't stain at all and my nails feel relatively strong. I don't notice any major improvements but I guess one week isn't long enough to tell.

Tips: Don't bring the color polish all the way to your cuticles, a tiny gap will help prevent chipping and look much more professional!

Chai on Life & Aura'nt You Relaxed?

I trialed two shades of this polish - Chai on Life & Aura'nt You Relaxed?

The packaging is beautiful, a really solid bottle with an attractive gold metallic lid. The labels are subtle and this bottle is easily displayable.

The brush is a good size, flat and wide but not too wide for the little finger. I found the brush took 2 strokes for most fingers. It is easy to overload the brush with polish which is something to watch out for!

The Chai on Life colour really surprised me, I don't tend to go for nudes but this is a great natural colour which is not peachy or pink. It is a cooler beige shade that is perfect for work. It also has a satiny pearl finish once it dries which I love! Again with the Aura'nt You Relaxed? shade, I wasn't sure it was me until I put it on! A beautiful bright coral shade and really opaque, I only needed one coat. The shade borders on neon but it a classy way, it's a really fun colour but also totally work appropriate!

I really like the formula, it is not thick, not watery but it is 'thin' or maybe 'fluid' is a better word. It spreads really well and is super easy to apply, just watch out for too much product on the brush as it does spread out. With the right amount on the brush it applies beautifully and not streaky at all.

With the Chai on Life nude I did apply two coats for a good even colour and needed a touch up here and there for a streak or two but for a nude it was good. The polish dries really well, by the time I finished the first coat I could begin a second. Two coats were dry to the touch after a few minutes and ready to go and do stuff after 10 minutes.

The polish lasted really well, I wore the Chai on Life with top coat for five days without a chip, I only removed it to try the other shade.

I think you would maybe need to trial this over a longer period to really tell if the formula improves nail condition, I didn't notice any improvement there, but it is a beautiful product and I will definitely be buying more shades!

Tips: Be careful not to put to much on the brush and wait until absolutely dry before adding top coat to avoid streaking.

Great nail polish!

I reviewed the two shades Pampered in pink and Teal good. Pampered in pink is a really pretty hot pink shade (ideal for summer) and Teal good is a dark teal shade. The nail polishes come in a standard glass nail polish bottle, but is very pretty. The lid is rose gold making this nail polish look rather luxurious.

The formula is a good consistency and isn't too gluggy. The applicator brush is a standard nail polish brush allowing for easy application. I found the nail polish applied on really nicely. I apply two coats to make sure my nails look nice and bright, I apply one coat and then wait 2 minutes before applying the next.

After applying all coats of the polish I wait until the polish is dry and then apply the colour therapy top coat. Unfortunately when I applied this is did smudge some of the polish underneath even though my nails were dry, I found there was less smudging when I used a less amount of top coat.

Once the process was complete my nails did look really nice and the nail polish was really glossy looking and opaque.

I don't feel that I have used this nail polish for long enough to notice any effects from the argan oil however my nails appear healthy after using this and aren't cracked or brittle which has often occurred for me when using other brands of nail polish.

Overall I really enjoyed reviewing this nail polish. It is definitely one of the best ones I have used and I highly recommend.
