Another product from my May 2016 BR vault haul. Thanks again, BR!
I read through the instruction pamphlet and then heated the wax. The plastic tub was lukewarm to touch and the wax was runny around the edges, while still looking pretty solid in the centre. I mixed it well with the provided wooden spatula until it had a creamy consistency, spread out an old towel and placed a piece of newspaper next to me, for the wax, clean and used cotton strips.
I dipped the tip of the spatula in the tub, lifting & twirling it, before smearing this thinly over the hair on my legs. I grabbed a cotton strip, lay it over the top and whipped the hair out.
The hair came out cleanly and my leg looked smooth. It was a little difficult to judge how far to smear the wax; if its too big and the wax sticks out the sides of the cotton strip, things get messy very quickly. I did the next section further up my leg and ripped the hair out, this time the cotton strip had quite a swinging backlash reaction! These cotton strips are far too long! After the first use, they become heavier and the further up my leg I went, the more problems I ran into. Not only was I dealing with a backlash effect and trying not to end up with the swinging sticky strip stuck to my face or hair, I was also running out of space to effectively rip the strip off. My body got in the way and I couldn't move my arm far enough to get the strip off properly.
I ended up only doing my lower legs and knees, as I was getting frustrated with the length of the strips and after being reused 4 or 5 times, the wax starts to seep through the back of the strip, making my hands sticky, too.
After 45 minutes, I had smooth half-legs, 6 cotton strips and half a pot of wax left, so a full 300g pot of wax and 15 reusable cotton strips would probably be enough to do two full legs OR two half-legs, a bikini line and possibly underarms, too.
They didn't lie, this wax washes off like a dream! A little warm water and it just melts away with no sticky residue at all! The wax just dissolves right off the strips, too, although they are still a little pink from the red dye.
I'm conflicted about this product, as there are definitely huge pros and cons for this wax. Pros: It removes hair well, is easy to use and simply washes off with warm water. Cons: It's very sticky and gets messy quickly, the cotton strips are too long, you have to wash the strips if you still have wax left and the red dye does stain your hands.
Would I use I buy another tub once this is finished? Probably not. I prefer my waxing experience to be a little less sticky and I don't like walking around with bright pink fingers, so I think I'll stick to using the Nad's pre-waxed Body Strips.
Would I recommend it? Yes, it really does work well and hair is removed effectively. If you don't mind being a little sticky (remember it washes off easily), then definitely try it.
Good product, works well especially easier on longer hairs. Warms and melts quickly. I found this product to be good for my legs. It was easy to use and i love the results of super smooth skin and such a bonus it last for about 3-4 wks. It can be a bit harsh on the gentle areas such as the bikini area but i do enjoy it for my legs and would recommend it and purchase again.
