I'm incredibly fair and up until recently was using my MAC NC15 and mixing it with white foundation to get a good colour match (I'm currently about an NC10 or even NC5 if they existed). This was a major hassle in the mornings, so I was so excited when I found out how well Siberia matched me in this foundation. It saved me to much time in the mornings since I can stop mixing my foundations and the matte finish is also perfect for my super oily skin! I love it!
I absolutely adore this foundation! This is my all time favourite foundation for nighttime wear, occasions or when I just want a bit of extra coverage in the day. This is great for absorbing oils without drying out the skin and it photographs very well. I highly recommend any Nars foundations to girls who find it difficult to find their shade as they offer an amazing range of shades.
Tips: A very fine loose powder works best with this foundation to avoid caking.
I picked this up on special as this is a line that is being discontinued. I really wanted to get my hands on sheer glow but thought that this would be ok on my normal skin. I would normally go for the lightest shade but Mont Blanc was the lightest shade available (is a light2). The shade is actually pretty good on my fair skin perhaps the teeniest bit to dark compared to my neck which is practically translucent.
I use a beauty blender to apply this to my skin and this has been the best way of applying this foundation. It is not a runny foundation - somewhere in between liquid and a super thick foundation. It is very matte but somehow feels slightly tacky when applied. It gives medium coverage but seems to amplify my pores and gives my skin a lot of texture which I don't like. It also feels quite heavy on my skin. This does have good longevity on me however. I didn't find that this clung to any dry patches like other matte foundations can
I will continue experimenting with this foundations and different primer combinations but at this stage I am not enjoying this foundation at all. Considering this is the most expensive foundation I have ever purchased (even on special) this is pretty disappointing. I think perhaps this is better suited to someone with oily skin and little texture (fine lines/pores). Will be saving this for use on stage as this has no SPF so should photograph well but will not be using it on a regular basis.
Tips: Edited to add: After experimenting with this one a little further I have found that this applies best with the fingers first and then using the beauty blender to finish. I've come to enjoy this foundation a little more when used as a foundation topper rather than all over my face. I use a lighter coverage foundation (in a matching shade) on the areas of my face which don't need as much coverage (forehead/cheeks/nose) and use this on my chin which definitely needs at least medium coverage. In this way, I'm not highlighting areas with large pores (around my nose) and I'm still getting the coverage and matte finish I need on my chin where I have acne. I even quite like this on top of a BB cream to bump up the coverage where needed. Accordingly I have upped my rating of this foundation.
I had read many great reviews before purchase of this product, once bought I found it to be quite hard to work with and a lot of my clients did not like it.
I applied this foundation to all clients that requested it with a beauty blender, and found it to be quite gluggy and thick Upon application to their skin. I found it to be very texturised and hard to work with when blending contour. I used this foundation with the Too Faced hangerover primer which I’ve never had any problems or complaints with before. I ended up throwing it out, and I definitely wouldn’t purchase this again.
This is my favourite mattifying foundation of all time. I'm in the shade Fiji.
I apply and buff it in with the real techniques face expert brush and it leaves a lovely velvety smooth finish, that lasts all day long. I find the face expert brush works a bit better for this foundation as it's a bit denser than the real techniques buffing brush so it works better with the liquid consistency. Most days I set it with rimmels stay matte translucent powder it even if I've forgotten it still stays matte all throughout the hottest days of summer! It creates a medium coverage that is easily buildable and blendable.
It can be quite drying on drier skin types, clinging to dry patches and I do find that during winter I have to switch to the sheer glow or the body shop moisture foundation as my skin tends to do a complete 180* with the seasons.
Tips: Definitely purchase the pump! So much easier to get the correct amount of product.
This is my holy grail foundation so far and finally a perfect match for my super pale winter skin, the formula is lovley and goes on very easily after a quick warm up on my hand. Because it is a matte finish i still get a nice glow as i have oily skin.
Tips: Warm this product on your hand first to get and even finish
