I received this serum as part of a Beauty Review Best Beauty Box Ever.
This serum comes in a red and cream cardboard box. On the box it says that it is a “plump and renew serum”, and that it is “100% free of toxic sulphates, petrochemicals, parabens & more” which are listed in full on the side of the box. It is made in Australia, and it is not tested on animals. Its key ingredients are “saccharide isomerate, echinacea purpurea extract, argan oil, and liquorice extract”. The serum claims that it “visibly improves wrinkles, hydration and corrects skin tone for youthful brightness.” The serum itself comes in a glass pump bottle with a plastic lid and a cream and red label. The serum is 30ml.
The serum says to apply it morning and evening. I have been applying this in the evening only as I do not, as a rule, apply serums in the morning. I have been using this for the past few months. The serum itself is creamy white and very light in feel. It is easy to apply and absorbs into the skin very quickly. It has a pleasant flowery scent.
I have very sensitive skin and I have not had a reaction to this product. It does make my skin feel moisturised, however, it does not seem to be any more moisturising than a regular night cream. I have not noticed any of the benefits that it claims from using this product. I think of serums as targeted formulas that contain retinoids or hyaluronic acid for anti-aging, and which go underneath a day cream or a night cream. This seems to be more of a super moisturiser that adds moisture in addition to whatever day cream or night cream that you may already be using. I think it is most appropriate for younger skin that may need a moisture boost. I think older skin will be looking for something more from a serum that has more targeted ingredients.
I received a very generous 15ml (half the size of the full sized product) mini of this as a magazine freebie. I can never resist a magazine freebie so in the trolley it went! I used this in the mornings only. It has a milky gel like texture, without any stickiness. It smells very fresh and fruity - probably a little stronger than what I would usually want in skincare.
I like to let serums settle and absorb for a few minutes and then apply moisturiser. I didn't find that this plumped my skin but it definitely tightened it. I couldn't wait to apply moisturiser after this to lessen the effect. I'm not a fan of this tightening sensation so I wouldn't use this again. I should imagine for those concerned with pore size it is a great product for the price but not what I'm looking for in a serum.
