Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub Review

I found this to be an okay product. Its not very exfoliating, but made my skin feel fresh and tight. Dried out my oily skin, which in turn made my t zone even more oily than before. I chucked out this bottle after 2 weeks use.

I was lucky enough to get a little tube of this, and then receive my sisters after she couldn't use it. So from their generous samples I got quite a lot of use. I love minis, and this was the perfect little replica of the full size. I can't comment on the ease of use of the large size, but if it is based on the same easy squeeze it will be great.

The formula is a sort of toothpaste texture with microbeads. Unfortunately I have read that they are polyethylene (plastic) beads. (Please correct me below if I am wrong, or the formula has changed.)

It has a punchy citrus scent, would be a good wake up scent in the morning. It lathers up slightly and is easy to massage onto my skin. The beads are a gentle exfoliater and my skin feels clean afterwards. I have quite oily skin most the time, but when I use this my skin feels like it has been sapped of all moisture. I definitely wouldn't recommend it for dry skin. I disagree also with their claim that it is gentle enough to use every day, for me if I was to do that my skin would end up so dry. It was been popped into the shower and I used it once every week or two if my skin was feeling quite congested.

Unfortunately because of the drying factor, and now reading that the beads are plastic - this is not something that I would repurchase.

I was introduced to this scrub that same way as most of you, which was through the first beauty box that BR made. Honestly, when it comes to cleansers and scrubs I don’t get excited that easily simply because my skin is sensitive, and those two items seems to really aggravate my skin, so I wasn’t expecting much from this product.

The packaging of this is simple. It comes in a squeeze tube with a small hole in the nozzle which means only a little bit of product is released which is perfect because I hate wasting product. This is the exfoliator I keep in the shower , versus the vanity, and i find the shape is really easy to hold with wet hands.

I actually really like the formula of this exfoliator. It’s a white creamy texture, and speckled with orange and white exfoliator particles, and it has a beautiful citrusy scent. However, one huge negative for me is the exfoliating particles, which I’m 99% sure are micro beads which suck for the environment, and i prefer not to use product with artificial exfoliants.

This product does a nice job at exfoliating my skin, its gentle enough not to hurt my sensitive skin, and doesn’t break me out either which is good. It leaves my skin feel pretty smooth and soft, but it is not as effective as other exfoliators I have used.

Overall, this is a good exfoliator, but this is not my favourite exfoliator, and the micro beads is a huge negative for me so I won’t be buying this product again.

Neutrogena is one of my fav brands that I love to use for my skin imperfections, I do trust the brand and love their range of products they have.

Unfortunately I did find this particular product to be too harsh for my skin. I suffer from sensitive/dry skin and from time to time get ezcema on my skin azwell as redness. This creme was amazing to apply, soft and silky, lightweight, but when it was on my skin it felt like a burning sensation and it was quite irritant and uncomfortable. I do love the Neutrogena range and will continue to use their products, but I will pass on this one. Maybe more suited for people that dont have sensitive skin ;)

This product was a good cleanser - left my face feeling clean, but it was too gentle to be a good scrub/exfoliater. It is a lightly scented, white cream with little microbeads in it. This does mean it was good for everyday use or for removing makeup, but I like a more gritty scrub that makes it feels like it is doing a deeper clean and removing dirt/oil and dead skin.

My use of this product ended however once I found out it contained microbeads - which enter the waterways, are eaten by marine life and can enter the food chain.

I was given a small tube of this when another lovely member decided to surprise me a with a few beauty goodies. I was happy to get this because I love skincare acids this has Beta Hydroxy Acids and I also have problems with black heads on my nose. I since the tube was travel sized I decided to take it with me on a family vacation. First the things I liked is that it was gentler than most Neutrogena foaming cleansers I've used and the beads are small and not harsh. My skin felt clean after using it and it helped to do a thorough cleanse after I took off my makeup. I eagerly scrubbed at my t-zone for the first two days then after that my skin felt really tight, dry and a bit sensitized. I stopped using this and my skin sensitivity went away. I don't think this is gentle enough for daily use. Another thing that doesn't appeal to me is the artificial micro beads. I personally prefer natural beads like jojoba beads. I have cut way back on the use of this scrub and now just use it once a week or every other week. Once the tiny tube is used up I don't think I'll purchase the full sized tube.

With any exfoliant I'd ideally like it to suit my sensitive skin and use it Atleast once a day to remove the dry flaky skin I get on my cheeks for head and around my nose.

This exfoliant I however couldn't. This product is not for me.

I used this for a week before giving up. The first wash it was ok the beads were little and gentle not harsh at all but my face stung a little with use. After a few more washes my skin dried out and the sting worsened.

After a full week of using this scrub every morning, my chin broke out with major pimples! Big sore red pimples.

The formula is a white cream with little microbeads that yes do help rove the dirt and cleanse the face, remove dead skin and clean pores.

If you do have sensitive skin I suggest trailing this product on a little area before a full face scrub. I expected it to work for me and it hasn't. I stopped using it and my skin has started to clear up again.

I love Neutrogena products however I just did not click with this one. For some reason this scrub reacted with my skin badly. I feel that it was no so gentle and it irritated my face badly. The reaction happened after first use and I didn't use it again after that. I feel like it did give my skin a deep clean which some scrub's don't. I wish that this was suitable for my skin type.

I do not believe that is would be suitable for super sentitive skin.

I'm not sure where I keep acquiring minis of this from but I always seem to have one or two in my stash. Now the words 'deep clean' and 'scrub'' should make me put it down and back away immediately! Whilst is does appear to be gentle (it's an opaque cream with small 'bits' in it), my skin does not like this at all! Each time I used this on my face, I got a hot, burning sensation and couldn't get it off fast enough. Rather than waste it, I ended up using it on my body and feet instead! My feet liked it but I wouldn't use it on my face again. It also contains micro beads so I'm not even sure if it is available anymore or has been reformulated without them? Either way, it's a pass from me.
