Apparently magnesium is good for stress, muscle aches, and digestive disturbances, all three of which I suffer from! I got this in a vault many moons ago, and only just finished them (yep I'm not the most diligent in terms of supplements). I don't think I noticed any major improvement in my digestion and whatever stress I have just tends to go away on its own eventually when things work out.
The pills are your standard supplement size pills filled with some sort of powder. It's easy enough to swallow with a big gulp of water, but does leave a slightly weird taste in my mouth. I made sure to take this when I ran and was sore all over afterwards. My whole body muscle ache lasted about three days, which felt a little long. Just for the sake of science I did the same run again about a month later but didn't take the supplements, and noticed no difference at all. Well that was disappointing.
I have a fussy GI tract, which means a high frequency of ... unhapy toilet trips. I took this a couple times when that happened, but I really don't think it helped that much.
So overall I'm not entirely convinced that it's done anything at all. I think my diet is balanced enough to give me all the magnesium I need. Maybe if you were deficient then you would notice an improvement? Either that or I didn't take this for long enough regularly. I won't be buying them again.
I got these capsules in a BBBE. I was happy about that as it's no secret that I'm a fan of supplements and alternative treatments. I'm always interested in magnesium as I know it is depleted in our soils, and the fact that adding it to soil makes such an obvious difference to my plants, gives me confidence that it is also good to add it to myself.
The bottle has 60 capsules with a recommendation to take 1 capsule daily with food. I take two in the evening instead, as I find this helps me relax and sleep better. I suffer with anxiety, especially badly on work days, and it really helps me to sleep if I take magnesium. And these work very well with that. If they're helping my heart and bones, then that's a great bonus, but something I can't really measure. I know from previous experience that taking magnesium reduced my menstrual cramps, but I don't still have them so can't speak for this brand specifically.
These are quite big but swallowable and as per the product claim, I don't have any stomach issues after taking them.
These capsules do what I want them to without issue and on that basis I recommend them. At $22.90 for 60, it's a fair price for a good supplement.
Tips: To help with sleep, take them in the evening.
