I have these in 2 shades - licorice and pops and they're really nice and opaque but I'm not the biggest fan of them. They claim to be hydrating but I actually find these to be a little dry on the lips especially if you're wearing them for a long time. I don't find they wear super long either, maybe a couple of hours with minimal drinking/eating, I'm not a fan as I like my lipstick to last a little longer than that. I do like the colours though, they're extremely pretty and very pigmented which is nice.

I have this product in the colors Candy Buttons and Snow Cap. Both are definitely buttery, smooth and subtle. The colors are beautiful and feel lovely on the lips, I don't notice a smell.
This product however cannot be used alone. If you want a lippie that you can swipe over your lips and it will stay all day this isn't it. If you use it on bare lips you probably wont be too wowed. Because it is so buttery it will slide off.
BUT!!!! If you prep your lips with concealer and/or lip primer, with a matching lip liner, you will love this product. I find them the perfect compliment to the NYC Soft Matte Lip Creams, which can be drying (but have gorgeous pigment!).
So i have three of the nyx butter lipsticks. I purchased the true love nyx lipstick and in that set it came with three lipsticks. It came with snow cap, taffy and candy buttons. Taffy is a nice pink colour, but the other two are pretty sheer. I also feel that this lipstick enhances the cracks and fine lines in ur lips.
Tips: exfoliate ur lips prior to applying this lipstick.
Thats not to say these are the worst lipsticks in the world either. I have the Pops (Root Beer Float) shade and it doesn't survive food (but aside from liquid or retro mattes/mattes, what lipstick does?) and it does like to linger on my coffee mug, but the texture isn't offensive and it does last about 4 hours if I'm not drinking/eating. Pigment is fairly good, it does kind of "stain" my lips after wearing all day.
Tips: An excellent formula for working in air conditioning and cheap enough to keep applying all day long.
I love these lipsticks as a "on the run with errands" kind of lipstick. They're moisturizing, lightweight, have decent pigmentation (depending on the shade) and they're affordable so it won't hurt the pocket if you lose them.
They come in fun coloured plastic tubes which is almost true to the colour of the lipstick and they have a slight sweet scent. I must say I was a little disappointed when applying because they go on semi-sheer but I guess it makes it more wearable. I prefer my lipsticks to go on opaque but it does allow you to build up the colour.
They go on incredibly smooth and the texture reminds me of a lip balm in lipstick form. It's quite 'buttery' so it's a given that you'll be touching up throughout the day because it tends to slip easily when drinking or eating.
Fizzes - Is a rose pink shade which on my skintone can appear abit off so I tend to mix it with another lipstick (for reference: MAC NC42-44).
Hunk - Is a magenta plum - not as dark as I would have liked but nothing that a dark lipliner can't fix.
I received my lipsticks as gifts and I bought some myself off of Makeup.co.nz when they were on sale (originally $13.95 sale price $11.95). These lipsticks are fun to have; not a must-have but good to have floating in your bag for emergencies when you need a pop of colour.
The name of these lipsticks are right when they say butter - they glide on so easily but I feel that sometimes they are lacking in pigmentation. That may be the colours I have. But not a bad price either.
I saw some great reviews and swatches of these and considering they are affordable I went a little crazy and brought 9 from Urban Outfitters site.
I am very pleased with the colours I brought. There is maybe 1 or 2 I could do without. I haven't tested them all to great extent but the ones I have have been what I expected. They claim to be long lasting, I found they do last better then other cheap brands I've tried (especially better then the NYX round lipsticks!) without eating I found them find for 2-3 hours. Once I eat though all bets are off. Which is fine, they're affordable!
The packaging is a little tacky with all the writing on it, but the clear middle showing the colour is useful.
They're super creamy! Super hydrating. They glide on, some more pigmented then others but I'll get into that next as I list the colours.
I have (from light to dark):
POPS, a nude pinky beige colour. Nicely pigmented, hydrating and creamy.
TAFFY, a pretty light pink. It's quite sheer I find compared to the others. But just as creamy and hydrating.
LITTLE SUSIE, darker mid pink. Nicely pigmented. It's my favourite pink out of the bunch I got. A very sweet and pretty colour.
SWEET TART, is very similar to Little Susie but more sheer (but build-able) it's a touch darker too.
RAZZLE, is a bright fuchsia pink. Pigmented and creamy.
JUJU, I first saw this colour worn by Shaaanxo in a video which looked really pretty. It's a red but very wearable as it's lighter then most reds I've seen. This one is nicely pigmented too.
MARY JANE, is a true red shade, darker then Juju. Its one of my favourites even though it scares me a little. I say this as I steer more towards matte reds due to them being easier to wear (more long lasting) but this one is great as it's more hydrating then a matte. I just need to be more careful and able to do regular touch ups.
HOT TAMALE, is a loud true orange. If you like orange this is definitely one to try. It's very pigmented! I haven't been brave enough to wear this out yet!
HULK, is a dark purple, with a slight red to it. Now this looks super dark in the bullet but applies quite sheer, which is disappointing. But it's build-able! It's not what I expected considering all the other dark shades were true to colour and pigmented.
So like a lot of product lines, there are hits and misses but from my collection they have all been creamy and hydrating and even the sheer ones have been build-able.
I think these are a lot better then some other lipsticks in this price range and the colour selection is awesome. The colours are very wearable and universal in my opinion.
Tips: Using a lip pencil would help these lippies heaps, especially for the darker shades. Being so creamy has it's downfalls when it comes to it's longevity.
I recently ordered NYX products from Cherry culture for the first time when they were running 40% off sale. Perfect timing, I went crazy and ordered loads of NYX products to try. Pricing of butter lipstick is reasonable and affordable. Why we don't get these beauties in NZ in our local store I wonder. They will sell out in no time for sure.
I bought two shades in butter lipstick range - Little susie (pink) and Hunk (purple). Both these colors are gorgeous and really stand out. The lipstick literally melts on my lips when I swatch, it glides smoothly. I didn't have to apply any lip balm as the lipstick is so moisturising and buttery that it keeps my lips hydrated for long. I have been playing with the brightness of the shades for past few days. Both the colors I could either go light for daily work wear or I could build the color to bright shades for evening/party wear. The color lasts long on my lips which is great.
I love the packing of these lipstick range, they are the true colors shown on the cover as well. The lipstick as such doesn't have any smell or taste, I was expecting it to smell or taste fruity.
I will definitely buy more of these buttery lipsticks. NYX has so many shades to chose from and they are reasonably priced to own one too many.
Tips: After applying one coat of lipstick, blot your lips on a tissue paper and apply second coat for a long lasting effect.
I heard a lot of good things about the NYX Butter Lipsticks from Youtuber Shaanxo so when I saw a NYX stand on holiday at Target I had to pick up one and try them for myself!
The formula is as 'buttery' as the name suggests, smooth and creamy. It glides on like a dream and the pigmentation is fantastic, so one quick swipe is all you need for gorgeous colour. I love how moisturising they are, the nourishment of a lip balm but with the colour payoff of a lippy.
I was really suprised about the claim to be long-lasting. I found that as I expected with such a creamy lipstick these wear off after a couple of hours and do need to be applied after eating or drinking anything.
I plan on stocking up on Butter Lipsticks when I have the chance, they're such an easy-to-wear product. "Sweet Tart" is now one of my favourite everyday lippies for at work and I've had so many compliments wearing the colour, as well as since 'enabled' a friend to purchase it for herself!
I have two colours now: "Sweet Tart" is a medium cherry-pink, and "Razzle" is a bright, fuschia pink.
Tips: Exfolliate your lips in the morning before application to ensure a smooth base.
I recently purchased 2 of the NYX Butter Lipsticks, as I love the butter lipglosses I just had to try the lipsticks also!
I have the colour's Liquorish, which is the perfect winter season colour! It is a really deep black cherry colour, It is by far my favourite. I have Hunk, which is my least favourite out of the 3 I own, just because it looks like a really nice deep plum/red but when applied it is quite sheer, its still nice its just not what I expected. And the last one is Snow Cap. Which is a really nice nude, kind of a your lips but better colour, It is perfect for minimal makeup days, I also wear it to work a lot.
So firstly, I will say that these lipsticks do not last long, They are very creamy which does make them bleed a bit, I always apply a lip liner but after an hour the lip colour definatly looks worn, I wouldn't suggest wearing these if you are going out to eat ha :D
But, they are really affordable, there is a good selection of colours to choose from, and they have a nice finish for the short while they stay on your lips. The colours I have except the one mentioned, are really opaque and have a nice creamy finish.
I probably wont buy anymore of the NYX Butter Lipsticks just because there are a lot more affordable brands I prefer, plus I like the NYX Black Label Lipsticks a lot more! But I think for the colour selection and price I would recommend them to someone just starting out with makeup or experimenting with colour.
Tips: Apply a lip liner first, as they do bleed.
