An attractive red box housed this product which was securely tucked into an equally attractive glass 30ml container with its silver lid. There is a pump on the lid, which unscrews to dispense its precious cargo.
After cleansing and a quick dry, application of a most minute drop of serum covers half the face area, a second pump the balance and a third the decolletage. The serum is a fine liquid with a gentle, clean fragrance. It applies very easily, absorbs promptly and leaves a 'aha' feeling of nourishment. Its non-greasy texture was most appealing.
I used this serum twice daily, first as a base for it's big sister Moisturiser and second for night cream. An impressive lineup of 'good' ingredients devoid of the 'nasties' claims to combat early ageing, roughness and good hydration for up to 24 hours. I preferred the twice-daily technique.
Yes, brighter and clearer skin showed but I could not tell if protection from environmental stressors and/or repairs and renewal of skin cells happened. But it all felt great!
While I like the look of the shiny packaging of the Olay Regenerist Antioxidant Serum, I was really disappointed when I opened the box and found the serum bottle was only filling part of the box. It’s not that I think a larger bottle is needed in general, but I think the packaging is misleading, and produces unnecessary waste. The information and instructions on the packaging are very clear for how to use the serum itself, however, I was missing information on how the serum is used together with, and works with, the other products in the Regenerist Antioxidant range. I have been using the matching moisturiser at the same time as the serum, and I looked up on the Olay website how those two items were meant to be used together. While I found this information, I did not get a clear idea of why both the serum and the moisturiser should be used at the same time, i.e. what the actual benefit is of using both rather than just one of them. The bottle for the serum is very pretty, and it comes with a dropper to dispense the liquid serum. I have found it quite hard to use the dropper to dispense small amounts, I seem to always get a lot more serum out than I want to. The serum itself has a really nice consistency, and absorbs well into the skin. Given that the serum needs to be used together with SPF in the daytime, it would be really nice if the matching moisturiser came with an SPF. I cannot comment on the effectiveness of the serum alone, as I have been using it together with the Antioxidant moisturiser, but even together I have not noticed any changes to my skin that I would describe as younger looking as promised by the products. While I have been a long time user of Olay products, and I have always really liked their moisturisers, so far I am not a fan of their anti-ageing products. I would not buy this again
