Olay Luminous Niacinamide + Vitamin C Super Serum

The packaging for this product is a shimmery silver and turquoise box, minimal but suggests higher end for a product available in supermarkets. The bottle itself is made of glass with a white opaque finish to protect the product from sun damage. The applicator is a dropper that inserts into the bottle and provides a measured amount. I prefer a pump applicator for ease of use, but this is okay.

The product itself is white with a slight shimmery tinge to it. It is not oily, more creamy but of a consistency which glides onto your skin with ease. The directions suggest using two pumps twice a day, but I found one to one and half each time provided sufficient coverage. The product has a slight aroma, ordinarily I dislike fragranced products strongly but this was quite pleasant, almost like you are inhaling a relaxing essential oil as you apply the product to your skin.

The serum glides over your skin with ease and feels like it soaks in effortlessly. My skin felt hydrated and the shimmery tinge to the serum certainly provided a dewy glow. Further skin care products and makeup applied with ease over this serum.

Did this serum live up to it's claim? Hmmm... being mindful I only trialled this product for two weeks it is hard to categorically state either way but, the product claims to contain Niacinamide to reduce the look of dark spots - I wouldn't say my dark spots have necessarily reduced but the dewy glow of the product did make my skin overall appear brighter and supported makeup application to cover dark spots with ease. The product also claims to penetrate 10 surface layers deep to reveal skin's natural glow - again, I can't be sure if it penetrated this deep to reveal a natural glow but upon application my skin did appear brighter with a glow, which i would have credited to the slight shimmer in the serum as to the cause of this glow. 

Overall a very pleasing product and I look forward to continuing use of this serum beyond the trial time to decide if it is to become a staple in my skin care routine.

I haven’t always used serum as a step in my skincare routine until recently when I noticed how dull and dry my skin had become after a harsh winter. This serum definitely came at the right time! Straightaway I loved the automatic dropper, I geek out with things like this. It’s super easy to get just the right amount on your fingers before you massage into your skin. In terms of results, I haven’t seen too much of a brightening effect, however my skin is plumper and more hydrated. With continued use I hope the product helps to even out skin tone. Overall, I’d recommend to give this a go, it’s not a miracle product but it definitely is better than using nothing at all.

I received this product for a trial and I have been using it daily.

First - the packaging is gorgeous. I love having it on my bathroom counter - it looks so pretty. The bottle itself comes with a little pump syringe and you need two pumps worth of product each time you use it. But the syringe only holds enough product for one pump. So you need to put the syringe back in, drag the product up and then pump it again into your hand - all while having a palm full of the product in the other hand.

I used the product and noticed that it made my skin look shiny. Not glowing and dewy, but shiny like it was oily. So I don't think the product makes your skin glow. But I think it does smooth the skin out and take away any blotchiness and discoloration - so while I can say that it does work, it also doesn't do everything it said it would.

The scent of the product is lovely, the absorption is quick and not greasy. It is also a bit hydrating as well and I can put my makeup on over top of it without the foundation sliding around.

So would I buy it again? Probably not. I feel like there may be other products on the market that smooth out skin tone and discoloration better (what these are, I don't know).

I really enjoyed trying this serum as part of a BR trial. After just using it once, my skin felt incredibly smooth and soft the next day. After a week of use, I can't see any lightening in dark spots yet but my skin definitely looks brighter. I was confused about how the pump works at first, but all you have to do is twist it to get a dose then twist it open and dispense 2 drops which will cover the whole face and is actually enough to cover my neck too. The directions say to use this twice daily. The packaging is quite classy with barely any scent. I also like the fact that it is paraben and mineral oil free.

I found a reduction in the appearance of Milia under my eyes and on my cheeks which is of unexpected benefit to me as they've been something that has annoyed me a great deal. While I've also seen somewhat of an improvement of uneven skin tone I believe I definitely need more time using the product to see greater results in this domain. It's difficult to say whether my recent break out of acne could be attributed to the product or the fact that aunt flo has paid a visit during the course of this trial. While I might not use this specific product again, I will try other niacinamide based products to see if there is greater results for others. I found the bottle kind of annoying more than annoying and prefer the traditional dropper style. I felt that my particular one had minimal product actually in the dropper and so required a couple of pumps to ensure I had adequate product for complete coverage of my face. I will continue to use it and hopefully see additional improvements to my skin overall.

First off the packaging is gorgeous! Love the silver box and the frosted bottle with chrome top look so nice on my countertop. The smell of the serum is light and fresh, not heavily scented. The texture is more fluid than I expected and the dropper applicator is easy to use. Rubbed between the fingers there is little viscosity that I would expect with a serum so I was a little skeptical. My fears were unfounded! This serum absorbs in seconds with no sticky residue on the skin, ready to layer with moisturizer and doesn't leave a film or make foundation pill or look patchy which I have found with other serums. It wasn't until I realized after the first week that I'm using significantly less concealer that this product actually works! My skin feels smoother, it looks smoother and my dark circles under my eyes and pigmentation issues are greatly improved. Its such a quick simple and easy step to add to my skin care routine, not exhausting at all. I will be adding this into my regime going forward.

Its so easy to use there is no long list of instructions or warnings which I like as makes it so easy to use.

The smell I also love its a good balance and is not too sickly or potent.

The applicator is quite cool also. I have used one like this by Olay before and I quite like it as I feel its quite hygienic as it draws it up an dispenses with a push and it drops onto the skin so it doesn't really have to make contact which I love as my skins quite bad at the moment with having to wear a mask a lot.

The formula is a while liquid that's fairly viscous but not too thick or thin.. thin enough to drop onto your skin easily and be rubbed in without disappearing too fast. Its a really nice fluid that is easily and quickly absorbed as I was able to put my makeup or other creams on straight away pretty much. No waiting 5 minutes for it to be absorbed.

In terms of effectiveness its been amazing. My skin feels and looks great. Its quite smoothing and a nice base for makeup. My skin looks less dull and perkier and my sun spot on my cheek does look lighter so I will be keen to see if that changes any more with time and usage. Overall my skin feels and looks perkier and is a smoother base for makeup or going natural which I also love.

I love trying new skin care so this was a treat. First glance I was pleasantly surprised by the texture, it was super comfortable on the skin and was easily absorbed. There is no off putting smell or overly chemical smell, which is one of my pet peeves with skincare! After only a couple of uses I noticed my skin was looking more hydrated and it definitely had the glow. The dropper is my only negative about this product as i find even when I push the dropper slowly, it comes out very fast. I will definitely be repurchasing and adding this product to my regular skin routine.

I have combination oily skin and I have uneven skintone and post-acne marks. Hoping this would help out with the pigmentation, but I haven’t used it long enough to see improvements in pigmentation. However the niacinamide did help with calming my skin and reduce my oil production. The vitamin C is gentle and I did not experience any irritation which is great.
