I love love the colours of the OPI range, but I find they take so long to dry! Maybe it's because I am impatient, but I've found that the colour will feel dry but smudge later on.

OPI Nail Lacquer Review
Reviews
Tips: Wait as long as possible for the colour to dry before applying the next coat.
Okay so don't get me wrong I do love OPI, they have the most amazing range of shades . BUT they just don't last long ! I find when I do my nails and I use the OPI base and top coat and within a day sometimes only a few hours it will be starting to chip which is quite disappointing considering its basically $25 a bottle. Really wish that the staying power was better :(
I dont often paint my finger nails as I have terrible nails and tend to chip them easily but I love to have my toenails painted keeping them clean and tidy. I was a little hesitant to spend that much on a nail polish I had been buying the Sally Hansen Salon Manicure's that were a bit cheaper but then I saw this Pompeii Purple and thought it would look great on my tootsies for summer. I made sure I removed any trace of the previous nail polish and then painted them. The OPI bottle is a pretty little glass bottle with a nice long top handle, the brush is an average nail polish brush nothing special. I was pleasantly surprised by the pigment , the first coat was highly pigmented and you could have easily just left it at one coat it was quite a thick formula but not gluggy. I followed up wtih a second coat mainly out of habit. This managed to last me the week before showing any signs of wear and tear (even through changing shoes from gym to work each day). Overall I was really happy with this polish it lasted well and good colour pigment. I will be buying more shades of this for my toes this summer.
Tips: You wont need more than one coat with this polish
I absolutely love OPIs amazing range of colours, they always have shades that I struggle to find in other brands so for that I applaud them! However I do feel it chips very easily, even when I am wearing a top coat it doesn't seem to prevent this. I also find with a lot of their shades you need to build the layers up quite a bit to get the best colour which then makes chipping more common! If it wasn't for those factors OPI would be my holy grail brand
I have a lot of OPI nail colours, and have used them a lot over the past few years. The main reason I keep buying them is because they have some of the nicest colours that I can find and consistently update their range. However, I find that OPI chips easily, and takes a really long time to dry! I have a cheap nail polish which dries in half the time and stays on much better. Whenever I use OPI I have to use an undercoat and topcoat, just to make sure it doesn't come off the next day. My least favourite part about OPI nail polishes is that they often chip my nails away. They seem to weaken my nails quite a bit, more so than other brands. It means that I have to make a choice between OPI or short nails, and often leave gaps between painting my nails to let them recover.
Tips: Give yourself about an hour to let your nails dry before doing anything to avoid smudges.
Have some awesome colour ranges and is always bringing out new colours often which I love. Does take a wee bit longer for colour setting time. When worn with a base coat, 2× colour and a top coat colour lasts quite well for me as um really rough on my nails. Usually lasts about 5 days with everything on 1-2days without base and top coat.
I too got caught up in the massive hype around OPI nail polish. I was first introduced to them after receiving a birthday present april this year. It made me smile like a donut when I opened it I assure you!
I have this in Imperial which is a plum purple with glitter fleck throughout giving it the bling I love. I also now have it in Give me Space which is a faded royal blue with glitter, Mystery which is a charcoal colour with glitter and I can't heart myself which is a hot pinkish colour also with glitter in. As you can tell I have a thing for glitter polishes. They just seem to give the look a bit more depth and edge.
I don't love the bottle shape but I think that's because I prefer more square shaped ones. I don't love the brush either. They are thin and spindly. They make it hard to get even coverage and it means that I have to swipe the polish over each nail more than three times to cover the whole nail. I do say though that being small it gets the very edge of the nail where I would normally miss with a bigger brush.
The nail polish is nice and thick like I would expect from a quality polish. It means I only have to do two coats of polish to get the desired result and the ultimate wear. It dries within 7 minutes which is touch dry but will scratch or peel if doing activities which require heavy use of fingers. I love the colour variety in this brand of polish. Others I love don't have this much to choose from as OPI have so I am impressed in that regard.
Now the pressing question....does it stay put for longer than a day or two?! In short yes it does but it starts to show stress and wear after a week. It doesn't last as long as I would like especially at $25 per bottle! I think the love of the colours don't justify the price nor the quality which is lacking in the durability. If you are wanting a nice polish that has choice in aces and will stay for longer than a couple of day this is for you but if you are like me and prefer it to last longer go for another type of polish.
Tips: Use a clear coat to help protect it
I have quite a few opi polishes in my collection. I love the amazing range of colours and I'm like a kid in a candy store when standing in front of the opi stands in Farmers. They are very easy to apply, the liquid is nice and smooth and glides on evenly. The drying time is average, always make sure each coat is dry before applying the next or it will get grungy. The only negative I have is this polish does not stay chip free for more than a couple of days on my nails.
OPI is one of the better brands of nail lacquer that I'll buy. It is a bit pricey if you're not nail-obsessed, but for me just having one or two colours is great. It goes on very well, however I've found that it doesn't last as long on my nails as I'd hoped. But this is something I find with most nail polish.
seriously I think the quality of OPI has gone shocking. Its always gluggy, thick, hard to apply, and it just isn't worth the price anymore. I love the colour range and I do still use them, but it is pricy for the quality of this product. There are lots of other affordable brands which are of a much higher quality
