Tips: If it's getting gluggy (which it will do) pour a few drops of nail polish remover in and shake. That will take it back to a nice smooth texture Also; when applying unlike most polishes you start from one side and work your way across (instead of the usual middle, side, side) DO NOT go over an area you've already done.
This definitely does what it says it will. Has a really cool appearance. However I prefer standard colours
I been used loot colors ,but it s look strange ,, only red looks prety ok. It s not really my stile. But some my friends use and they are happy.
I was so keen to get hold of some when it first came out, it wasn't long after the Earthquake in Christchurch I think as I remember people saying "Ooo earthquake nails." I got the black one and loved the effect over bright colours. But the fad was over very quickly, taken over by ones that didn't last long either. And it's just as well really as when I was having a clean out of polishes a few months later, this one had already gone really gluggy and awful!
Tips: Stick to your favourite colours, the 'trends' don't seem to last long at all!
I bought both silver and black when they were in fashion but never really ended up using them that much :(
I found them really hard to get the hang of and really only ended up using the silver one over another colour of normal polish as the black always ended up looking manky and I could never seem to get the right effect with it (even using a really thin layer)
I'm a huge OPI fan but for the price you pay for the Shatter Polish I wouldnt recommend buying them as there are other awesome colours/ nailpolish effects that are easier to use and look better.
Does what it says it does. But need to be careful as the more you put on in one go, the worse it looks. A light application looks the best. It was good when it was the "in style" look but I don't seem to use it anymore. I have the dark blue one, which I love the colour of. It can look good but also can look bad. One of throes purchases that when brought I used a lot of and now not really at all. Just sits in the cupboard!
It's okay. It does what it says it does. But let's be honest - this ship has sailed and shatter isn't cool any more. That didn't last long, did it?! I found my shatters started going horrible in the jar after just a few uses! too. All clogged up around the top and hard to get out. I've never had nail varnish do this before?! My 5 year old daughter likes it, so I just use it on her now.
Tips: Use a thin layer for lots of crackle effect. Putting too much on means it doesn't shatter properly and looks stupid.
I love my nail art and these are great for incorporating into or starring in new looks. theres a real learning curve to using them - thinner coats dry faster and 'shatter' more while thicker coats can be more dramatic..but they are easy to touch up. The bottles are too big - the polish dries out before you get even close to using it all, so not terrifically cost effective, but fun and funky, and if you want to make a statement with your nails then these work well.
Tips: the silver doesn't shatter as well... the black and white are best. I love drawing random designs on my nails with a range of colours and then shattering over the top to create unusual patterns.
I have the black and white version of this product and really enjoyed using them when they were in "in".
The polishes definitely did what they were meant to do - shatter however it look me a bit of getting used to. A thin layer gives more "shatters" where a thicker layer gives only a couple of lines which I preferred. The only downside I found was if you messed up a nail you had to start all over again.
Tips: Always apply a top coat to give a nice shine. Due to the number of layers your nails will take forever to dry so be careful or you will need to start over if they get smudged!
I love OPI shatter. Its easy to use, theres a fantastic range of colours and it gives such a cool effect compared to regular nailpolish. It gives you a huge range of possibilities of colour combinations allowing you to mix and match depending on your mood or outfit. I especially love that you can use them over ANY other brand of polish as it works just as good as over OPI. They can be pricey at some stores but theres always a sale somewhere so it easy to pick them up for a bargain. Love love love it!
Tips: Before applying shatter wait until your base coat is COMPLETELY dry. Swipe the shatter on with a quick swift motion and apply minimal strokes. This will give the best results. Apply to much or swipe it too many times and it will not shatter properly. Practice makes perfect.
