I remember when everyone did their nails like this! My white is my favorite because it looks good against any other base colour but i find it hard to get the perfect amount on the nail. Apply to much and the shatter doesn't work but apply to little and it just looks silly. I really like how you get quite alot in the OPI bottles and the polish dries reasonably fast so there's no waiting around. I haven't used any of the shatter colours since they stopped being popular because alot of the 'older folk' have made comments (especially on the white) on how it looks like you've just put correction fluid all over your nails. I have the colours white, red and blue.

Tips: Make sure you apply it evenly and not to much.
I was so excited when this came out, the hype was insane! I rushed out and bought three bottles, black, white and gold. Initially I loved it, although only ever used them two or three times each, because it is pretty dramatic! I found the brush wasn't as wide as I needed it to be, so this would result in either too much shatter, or not enough, which kinda ruins the effect.
The bottles I bought really didn't last long at all before going thick and clumpy, in fact I had hardly used them and had to throw them out :-( As it happens, I've now lost interest in the effect it gave, and would rather have a solid colour, so won't be buying anymore.
Tips: Depending on how much shatter you want, experiment with the amount you apply - thicker application results in bigger patches of the colour and less gaps, and thinner applications will give you much smaller patches with loads of gaps
These were pretty useless. Dont get me wrong, they did give me the shatter effect I was after(the gold over black polish or black over red, GORGEOUS!!) but it wore off my nails pretty quickly even when I used a top coat. They went thick and clumpy in the bottles very quickly so I found they were a huge waste of money
Like some of the other reviewers, I wasn't impressed with its staying power. I also felt like it was a bit tacky looking, the idea of it was really cool but the actual product... not so much.
I'd try it with a top coat and that did help for getting it to last, but it still wasn't really my style. I'm glad I only bought one to try and didn't buy a set.
Tips: Using a top coat does help to make it last longer.
I am so confused as to why there was such a massive hype about this product!? It never works on my nails it looks clumpy and doesn't have the nice shatter look that I had expected from looking at pictures. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but this product really doesn't do what it's ment to and I would most probably never use it again.
Was extremely excited on the release of this product that I went and brought the whole set.
What a disappointment
It works best with 1 coat using 1 brush stroke but the brush is not wide enough so it requires multiple strokes leaving the finish not shattered enough and looking heavy. The red shatter is not pigmented enough and would not cover anything other than perhaps white. And the lacquer itself dries and clumps very quickly that it becomes completely unusable. I barely got any use out of this product. I definitely don't think anyone should be paying the full price for this polish
Tips: Most effective shades are the black and white
I bought a couple of these when it was all the rage a couple of years ago. I have the black and white. I find that you have to wait ages for your first base coat colour to dry before even thinking about adding the shatter polish over the top. The formula is okay, never had any clumping issues and one quick swish was usually sufficient to get a decent crackling look. Top coat is an absolute must as one few times I went without they felt rough and chipped after only a day or so. I have no problems with this type of OPI polish but I guess it's become a bit outdated in terms of nail trends. In recent months i've used the black once on a feature nail which I think tones down the look a bit.
Tips: Try an intense glitter polish underneath the shatter, it looks really cool :)
I remember how much hype there was around this range, and when I got them I felt quite disappointed.
To begin with I had to make sure that the underneath nail polish colour was bone dry before attempting to apply the Shatter or it would start to pull the nail polish away with it when it started to shatter - not a great look.
I also found that it chipped SO fast, within a couple of hours it had started to chip even with a top coat.. I also thought the brush was too small and you weren't able to coat your whole nail with 1 stroke which would have been more ideal.
The thing that annoyed me the most was how fast they dried up and started to go bad/gluggy. After a couple of uses my black was almost unusable which sucked - especially after paying $25 for it! I've found dupes which work better from the $2 shop... Sorry OPI :S
A positive is that they had a nice selection with a decent range of colours, but I would not repurchase again...
I was so excited to try this, and then I tried it and my excitement was gone. Fast.
It was just so awkward. You have one chance to get it right. If you don't get a perfect, full coverage with your first swipe of the brush you need to start all over again. You can't keep brushing it on before it dries or it just doesn't work.
I have found other "shatter polishes" that you can keep coating it on to get the perfect coverage before it starts cracking, for a lower price.
This is a fail for me, sorry OPI.
Out of the four or so brands of shatter I have tried, OPI i the easiest to manipulate. Downfall is that it dries super fast so I waste much of the bottle, but it's a novelty item- you won't use it too much. Definitely worth shilling a couple extra dollars for this over another brand. (I have silver, goes well with everything!)
