These are good but fair warning, its better over nail polish that has been there for a few days and has time to properly harden. The shatter doesn't really do its thing very well if you do it as soon as the underneath colour has dried.

Tips: Its a good way to renew nail polish that has started to chip and crack without having to repaint your nails!
Let's start with the negatives I don't like the concept of this. To me it seems like your nails are chipped and I don't feel it is a sophisticated look. On the other hand if this is the look for you I do think OPI is the best brand out there I have tried to achieve this look. It goes on smooth and cracks evenly as long as you use another opi underneath. The polish does last a decent amount of time.
Tips: Don't apply to much or too little because then the cracks will either not be there at all or will just competently crack into little horrible looking chipped nails
I love the shatter. It looks really nice. You can wear it to work or out with the girls. It makes you nails looks nice all the time and it coming in many colors makes it better.
this opi nail polish goes thick very fast and also will dry if bottle is left open too long. I myself am not a big fan of shatter but out of all shatter once put on this has to be one of the better ones to use
I will start off saying that I don't knownignit was me and my 'technique' or of this is just crap but I wasn't impressed with the look after. I spent the 15 dollars I read instructions and it looked like ass. Not what I was expecting especially because of all the hype around this product. I will never stray from my usual 'boring' plain nail polish again. Lesson learnt!
This was such a big deal when Katy Perry wore it that everyone I knew just had to have it, and I bought three bottles on sale. I have to say, I was not that impressed. They were hard to use and to get to shatter properly. Too thick an application and it won't shatter at all, too thin and the shatter is so fine that it isn't really visible. After several tries, I could only get the black shatter to work properly - the red shatter and gold shatter were a bit too sheer for the shatter to show up properly. In real life, it doesn't look that great either, it sort of looks like your nails are chipping. It does last a while though. The look is also so trendy that its pretty much on its way out.
Tips: Do your base coat of color a few days before you apply the shatter polish. Your base coat needs to be well and truly dry, otherwise the shatter polish re-liquifies it. Also, do a top coat of clear polish to make the final effect look less like just chipped polish.
I love OPI and particularly the new polishes and formulas they are bringing out that aren't your standard gloss, glitter or creme. Shatter was a "miss" for me. It was hard to get the right amount of formula on your nail and for me, it would "crack" inconsistently. The bottle of polish dried up really quickly too and was just a waste of money.
I bought this when it was new out & everyone was wearing it. Only used it once & once was enough. The polish didn't shatter very well & didn't give the desired affect.
Sadly this polish was a fashion trend. When it first came out i purchased the black and white OPI shatter, and changed between the colours almost daily. Although i don't really use it anymore, my little sister's still love them. I think the younger generation is still in love with this product :)
The polish can be a little difficult to apply, it cannot be too thick but i also can't be too thin (i think practice makes perfect). Start with a base colour, and apply a thin even coat over your nails and apply a even coat of shatter overtop and watch it shatter. For a finished look, finish it off with a glossy top coat.
I felt that the White OPI shatter tended to get very gluggy over time i'm not sure why this was, the black one stayed thin and in good condition.
I think they retail for about $25.00 (which i think is remarkably expensive), but keep an eye out at the Warehouse for sales.
I personally don't think the product is worth $25.00 a bottle, they need to work on their formula to expect this kind of money. It takes practice to perfect this look, make sure you apply fast and don't put two layers on or it won't crackle.
I was quite disappointed with this product. LOVED the idea and was really wanting it to be good however I found it hard to apply the right amount, too little and it would not shatter properly and too much and it would just not shatter at all. It was really hard to get the right amount so would end up having to repeat some nails and it just got too frustrating...
