had only bought like 5 bottles of this for about half a year and all had hardened up. Good quality though aside from that, shatters quickly and nicely.

This is a unique nail polish that does an amazing effect on the nail, my only disappointment is how the product drys up in the bottle quite fast, i have found myself quickly having to apply the product so i can place the lid back on the nail polish so the product does get air and dry up. this can be frustrating, as it is a semi expensive nail polish, when you could buy a cheaper brand that does the same this. I like the variety of colours that OPI has so it has a colour to match occasions and outfits but a tad disappointed in the formula,
Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the look of the shatter nail polish. I just don't think that it comes across looking quite...finished. Now don't laugh, I do know that it's the point of the shatter but I don't like the thin-ness of the nail polish here. it comes off really fast and doesn't feel nice on the nails.
I had heard this stuff was amazinng and everyone was raving about it - it's OPI, I thought, it must be true. But no, sadly this stuff did nothing guy disappoint me. The look that came out at the end was not much like the pictures, instead of looking fun and edgy it just looked messy and childish in my opinion. I was told that maybe the fault was in my application, perhaps I had out too much on so th shatter effect hasn't worked as well. Some tried again with minimal shatter over top and still just didn't like it.
Tips: Use as little as possible over thoroughly dry nails. Avoid if your nails are short, it looks too childlike and messy.
Like everyone else I jumped on the shatter bandwagon when they first came out. I've got the black and gold and they definitely added to my collection at the time. After a few uses I found they went really gloopy and became hard to use - although a few of my OPIs have done this, these were worse. They're definitely a novelty item so I'm not too upset that they're pretty much unusable now.
I was so excited when this came out, the hype was insane! I rushed out and bought three bottles, black, white and gold. Initially I loved it, although only ever used them two or three times each, because it is pretty dramatic! I found the brush wasn't as wide as I needed it to be, so this would result in either too much shatter, or not enough, which kinda ruins the effect.
The bottles I bought really didn't last long at all before going thick and clumpy, in fact I had hardly used them and had to throw them out :-( As it happens, I've now lost interest in the effect it gave, and would rather have a solid colour, so won't be buying anymore.
Tips: Depending on how much shatter you want, experiment with the amount you apply - thicker application results in bigger patches of the colour and less gaps, and thinner applications will give you much smaller patches with loads of gaps
Was extremely excited on the release of this product that I went and brought the whole set.
What a disappointment
It works best with 1 coat using 1 brush stroke but the brush is not wide enough so it requires multiple strokes leaving the finish not shattered enough and looking heavy. The red shatter is not pigmented enough and would not cover anything other than perhaps white. And the lacquer itself dries and clumps very quickly that it becomes completely unusable. I barely got any use out of this product. I definitely don't think anyone should be paying the full price for this polish
Tips: Most effective shades are the black and white
I was so excited to try this, and then I tried it and my excitement was gone. Fast.
It was just so awkward. You have one chance to get it right. If you don't get a perfect, full coverage with your first swipe of the brush you need to start all over again. You can't keep brushing it on before it dries or it just doesn't work.
I have found other "shatter polishes" that you can keep coating it on to get the perfect coverage before it starts cracking, for a lower price.
This is a fail for me, sorry OPI.
I have tried applying this by myself once, and it was a disaster! Because it dries rather fast, you have to get it right on the first application or it becomes really thick and the effect doesn't look good. When done correctly, I really like the shatter effect and have gotten it done at a nail salon several times. My favourite shatter is the silver one. I wouldn't recommend trying to apply this on by yourself.
I was so keen to get hold of some when it first came out, it wasn't long after the Earthquake in Christchurch I think as I remember people saying "Ooo earthquake nails." I got the black one and loved the effect over bright colours. But the fad was over very quickly, taken over by ones that didn't last long either. And it's just as well really as when I was having a clean out of polishes a few months later, this one had already gone really gluggy and awful!
Tips: Stick to your favourite colours, the 'trends' don't seem to last long at all!
