Oral-B iO Series 9 Electric Toothbrush

I was incredibly fortunate to receive the Oral-B iO Series 9 toothbrush to trial. You can buy these wee gems for around $450 at the moment but they range up to around $800. That's a lot of money but when compared with, for example, whitening treatments at a dentist, you could argue that it is value for money. As I've never used an electric toothbrush before, I only have the good 'old-fashioned' mechanical one to compare it to. Here's where it gets interesting, though. It took a bit of getting used to in terms of feeling like I was at the dentist - not my all-time favourite place to visit, but this odd feeling didn't last long and would only have been because I wasn't used to an electric toothbrush. My teeth honestly did feel cleaner after using the Oral-B iO and I can say hand on heart that my teeth are noticeably whiter - even after only a short time using this toothbrush. I chose the whitening setting as this was what I saw as an area of need and I was pleasantly surprised. I also found out that I had not been brushing my teeth for nearly long enough all these years, so this was another bonus in terms of looking after my teeth. The timing function is great - you get a sad face if you haven't brushed for long enough and a smiley face with stars when you have. I quite liked the fun factor of this. Another absolute bonus is that this toothbrush is bluetooth and has an app so you can really make sure you are looking after all aspects of oral hygiene - that's got to be a bonus in avoiding the drill at the dentist! You can use it without the app but it's great fun to explore all the different settings and options and it keeps you on track with progress if you're focused on the whitening function. It also tracks how you are brushing your teeth so that you can see if you are missing spots on a regular basis. This Daily Coaching feature is actually pretty cool. You can use the app and brush and it records how you are brushing your teeth. All you need to do to connect the toothbrush to the app is to turn both on and shake the brush. The Oral-B iO comes with a spare brush head in a nifty wee container and you can also set up a reminder in the app for when you need to change it. I'm still new to the world of electric toothbrushes and I'm continuing to explore the app and other features but I'm loving this experience and have really noticed a difference in how my teeth look and feel. I'm still not sure regarding how expensive this is, but if I'm already noticing an obvious difference in the short time I've had this brush, then I think I'm sold.

Straight up amazing toothbrush! Love that it has an app to guide your clean and to give challenges to keep you going. Easy to use and charge. Love that it comes with a travel container. Eay to charge and swap the brush and clean it all. Love it and definitely will recommend to family and friends.

The round brush head from Oral-B is gentle and uses micro-vibrations. I definitely felt the difference after even a single use. Gums feel healthier, teeth feel cleaner and smoother (even though I always brush twice a day before this).

The app on your phone is great, and the interactive brush handle. There are different brushing modes to use, example a daily clean but if you have sensitive gums or teeth there is a sensitive mode to use. The brush handle is cute, it greets you when you turn it on, says goodbye, and gives a smile for a good job. Your app will let you know your brushing style and helps to guide you to cover all your teeth, so you never miss a spot. It is so easy to use and follow. The prompts of extras are great, like flossing, mouth wash, tongue clean.

There are little achievements and medals to keep you going, and different challenges to try. It's quite cool to look at each day once you've done your cleaning.

There is a pressure sensor to help keep you from brushing too hard to protect your gums and teeth.

This is definitely the most exciting and advanced tooth product I've ever used.

This brush itself is nice and sleek, black finish with a screen which tells you what brush mode you're using, how long you've been brushing, and the battery level when it's not being used. I was previously using the old school Oral B electric brush which tended to just slowly die on you, usually mid brush, so this addition is great.

The brush comes with a stand-up magnetic charger, but also comes with a travel case which has its own charger which charges the brush inside the case.

The brush has multiple settings - Daily Clean, Sensitive, Whiten, Intense, Super Sensitive, Gum Care, and Tongue Clean. Sensitive and Whiten are my two preferred settings, and I try to remember to finish each brush off using Tongue Clean.

Where this brush gets interesting is when you use the app, and use "guided brushing", using this you can see in real time which areas of your mouth have had a sufficient clean and which areas need some more love. You can also brush without using the app and just view it after to see how well you've done. The interesting thing about this is, if you're like me, you'll find out that there were areas that were being neglected when just doing your regular brushing routine. I have found the guided brushing so useful for ensuring I am brushing for the recommended amount of time and covering all areas of my mouth. My teeth are always left feeling super clean, just like leaving the dentist, and I have had zero gum bleeding while using this brush.

If this product is in your price range - it is definitely a worthy investment that may reduce those spenny dentist visits!

WOW! I was ridiculously excited to be one of the lucky people chosen for this incredible trial! I've always used Oral B electric toothbrushes but a toothbrush at this value was never something I'd ever considered spending money on, so to have the opportunity to try it was once in a lifetime stuff. (As always, thanks BR Babes, you are truly amazing!)

The package came with the brushing unit, 2 heads, a case for the heads and a cool chargeable travel case along with chargers. The travel case is going to be fabulous to store my brush in and keep it charged when I go away for work. I guess a point to note here is that the head is different from other Oral B toothbrushes, so if you have spare heads, you wont be able to use them on this unit. The magnetic charging base is also different from the other models - I was a little sceptical at the brush falling off the charger as it has a flat charging platform, but the magnet is strong enough to keep it in place, and actually makes it heaps easier to keep clean.

When I opened the box I was really looking forward to see what info was in there to convince me that this toothbrush would change my life (at such a high price point it has to right?). Initially I was a little disappointed with the limited info in the pamphlet, but then I realised it had the QR code, and because it had the interactive app, that was where I should start for info. . Downloading the app was easy (iphone), and it setting the brush up with my personal settings was super easy. The app has some really great suggestions, and tracks how you are brushing your teeth.

My first brush - I freaked out because I thought I had chipped a tooth, but it was actually a flake of plaque (gross!!!) that came away - so clearly, this brush is amazing! The colour settings are awesome to guide you to show whether you are applying enough pressure - interestingly it was really clear I hadn't been applying enough pressure because I really had to concentrate to get it to green. This brush has the 30sec buzz reminders which are really helpful, although if you have the app running at the same time when you're brushing, it doesn't do the little buzz. At the end of a brush, you can check the app to see where you have missed any areas, if you were too light or if you applied too much pressure.

I've tried all the settings, and love the intense one, and the tongue clean. There's something really helpful and purposeful about using this brush that makes me want to keep my teeth clean and get that 100% score on the app! Although the brush is up there in price, when you consider what a dentist visit costs - I really think this is worth it. My teeth have never felt so clean, I have never been so excited to brush before, and to be able to identify areas that need more attention is going to prevent tooth decay.

Wow, I'm in love with my toothbrush! There are so many features, it's hard to know where to start? This toothbrush comes with 2 heads, a magnetic charger, a recharger travel case with power cord and a covered toothbrush head holder for 2 heads. You also have an app on your phone to personalise and help you to make the most of this clever toothbrush. You get a lot in the box, which is great when you look at the price... over $700! The toothbrush is unlike any electric toothbrush that I've used as it vibrates instead of spinning, which feels incredible on my sensitive teeth and is a lot quieter. This creates a much gentler clean but with 100% better results. You have several different types of cleaning modes to choose from... daily clean, sensitive, intense, whitening, tongue cleaning etc. It also has a pressure sensor which lights up red if you are brushing too hard and green when the pressure is perfect, which I absolutely love! It also vibrates to tell you when to move on to another section of teeth and when you're finished. The app tells you how well you are brushing and any parts of your teeth you are missing or need to concentrate on, which was very interesting as I thought I brushed very thoroughly, but can now see a couple of areas that I tend to rush over. After using this toothbrush for just over a week, my gums look and feel healthier and my teeth feel as if I have been to the dentist for a professional clean. I love and definitely recommend this toothbrush!

I received this to review at the start of a busy work week. I currently have a standard Oral B electric toothbrush which has seen better days and I was looking for an upgrade. This product came with everything I needed to start brushing right out of the box. I downloaded the app and synced to my iphone via bluetooth, super simple process as there was a QR code in the box. The app allows you to monitor your brushing which I found really useful and it helped me to identify areas where I was not brushing properly. There are also different routines you can set up if you want to target specific concerns or just to help keep you on track & they will remind you to do those routines. I did find though I tended to go over the 2min guideline so I need to practise being a bit faster! There were other settings like tongue cleaning, gum care, intense clean, super sensitive, sensitive which I tried but found I liked the daily clean setting the most. It was good to have options. In the box was a chargeable case, love that idea for when I go away, there was also a refill holder so I had somewhere to put the head after removing it for cleaning. It has a magnetic charging base making it super simple to put back on the charger after you have used it too.

I really enjoyed using it, albeit a bit more practice required, my teeth got a good clean according to the app, lol. It is at the higher price point but if you are serious about wanting to keep track of all your brushing routines then this does it all!

Wow this electric toothbrush is amazing. Having used basic electric ones before I was excited to see the difference between them and this one. I haven't been disappointed. I absolutely love the Black Onyx colour and find it super light to use which is awesome for me as I use my right hand to brush and this wrist has been broken twice so is weaker. It came nearly completely charged so I completed the charge on the magnetic charger which isn't bulky like some are. Love that you can personalize it with a colour ring that lights up when brushing and it has an easy to use display to pick which mode you need to use. The app was super easy to download and I love watching where I brush change colour over the brushing session to achieve perfect results. I've tried all the modes and find I prefer sensitive or super sensitive mainly because it's a tad gentler and slower than the daily clean which spins faster and I don't flick toothpaste around as much. With a variety of modes Daily Clean, Sensitive, Gum Care, Whiten, Intense, Super Sensitive and Tongue Clean there's a mode for everyone. I've always been one with a normal toothbrush to not brush for the recommended 2 minutes as find brushing rather boring but being able to see where I'm brushing on the app is actually fun and it will tell you if you are brushing too hard. From the first brush my teeth felt absolutely the cleanest they have felt in a long time and it feels like between my teeth are better too. I'm honestly stoked with this product. It also comes with the brush handle, a magnetic charger, 2 brush heads, a holder for the brush heads and a travel case which acts as a charger when you go away, you just place the handle and the brush head into the case and plug in the separate cord it comes with and it chargers away. Having said that I have used this brush twice a day for the past week and it is only just at 50% charge so the charge lasts a while. Overall I find this has definitely helped me up my brushing game and am super happy with the results so far that I don't seem to have that furry feeling as much by the end of the day and teeth still feel cleaner even though I've eaten lunch etc.

It comes with a magnetic charging base for ease of use, 2 toothbrush heads and holder, a plug in charger for your electrical outlet that plugs into the travel case. Plus the clever handheld device.

You can download the Oral-B app and sync the toothbrush via Bluetooth with your phone. There are a number of brushing and gum health options to track your progress which gives you feedback on your brushing style and where you can improve. If good enough you receive a medal each time to encourage you.

The brush is slightly longer but on an angle to really reach between your teeth and is gentle while cleaning and no loud or strong vibration. The program lasts for two minutes and lets you know when to target a different area of your mouth which is broken up to 30 second increments and you can see where you're brushing by looking at your phone via the app.

You can change the colour of the light ring when it charges and while brushing the light is green when you apply the correct pressure, red for too much and white for too little.

You won't get any tartar buildup if used correctly and your teeth will look and feel so much cleaner.

Yes it is expensive though if you have the money I would highly recommend this as it does such a thorough clean.

I didn’t know a toothbrush could be luxurious until I tried this one!

For context, before this brush I was using a manual toothbrush. After using this brush, my teeth felt noticeably cleaner. Not quite trip to the hygienist clean, but not far off.

This brush was quieter than electric toothbrushes I have used before which can’t be a bad thing. Another cool technical feature is that the toothbrush lights up red if you are using too much pressure on your teeth. The brush also vibrates every 30 seconds which is helpful for letting you know when to move to a different area of your mouth.

I really like the different programmes you can pick on the toothbrush. I’ve been using the sensitive programme and the whitening programme. Both programmes left my teeth feeling super clean and my gums didn’t bleed/weren’t irritated. I really don’t understand how, but I feel like the whitening programme has made my teeth slightly whiter which is amazing.

I’m a big fan of the accessories that come with this brush. There’s a covered stand type of thing you put in your brush head on when you’re not using it which is great. There’s also a carry case kind of thing that would be perfect for travel.

The last electric toothbrush I used needed to be charged around twice a week which got a bit annoying. The battery seems to be pretty solid on this toothbrush. I’ve been using the brush everyday for over a week and there is still plenty of battery. It seems like a full charge will last two plus weeks, which is fab.

I’ve used the app alongside the toothbrush a couple of times and it’s pretty cool. It shows you when you’ve brushed certain areas enough which makes brushing your teeth feel like a game! You can also set up other cool things on the app like reminders to buy new toothbrush heads at a particular time.

If I could suggest any improvements, it would be good if the toothbrush heads were a bit more individually identifiable. They have small different symbols on the bottom, but if you plan to share this toothbrush with someone and use different heads, it might be difficult to tell who’s head is who’s.

I know it’s an expensive product, but if you’re looking for top of the line, this is it.

I am absolutely in love with this toothbrush. It is an absolute game changer and has changed the way I brush my teeth. I am now excited every time I go to brush my teeth.

The toothbrush by itself is pretty awesome, with its LED screen which tells you good morning/ good evening and keeps track of how long you are brushing your teeth for. It vibrates every 30 seconds and lets you know when it has been two minutes. The pressure sensor is amazing. The toothbrush lights up red when you are brushing too hard, green for when you are using the right amount of pressure and white for not enough pressure. This toothbrush has shown me that I use too little pressure when brushing my teeth.

The interchangeable heads have little symbols on them (paper plane and a diamond) so you can track which one you have, or if you and another person want to share the base you could interchange the heads and not loose track of whose is whose. It comes with a wireless charger, so there is no hassle with trying to plug it in, you just place it on top of it. I have had no issues with battery power. It also comes with a cute rechargeable travel case, which is so handy to take away with you, so you don't have to take the charger away with you.

Now the app. You can download the Oral B app on your phone. That is the cherry on top. It takes brushing your teeth to the next level, it shows you where you are brushing, it splits your teeth up into six sections and if you use the app while brushing your teeth, the sections turn from grey to sparkling white once you have cleaned each area enough. The app gives you a score out of 100% for how well you have brushed your teeth, it includes how well you brushed each section, if you used too much pressure and how long you brushed your teeth for. I haven't played around too much on the app but I've been using the reducing bad breath setting and it gives you advice on what to do for that along with a daily remind to floss and use mouthwash daily.

I have been using this twice daily for just under a week. Overall I have noticed a significant change in the colour of my teeth, they look a lot whiter. My teeth feel constantly clean and smooth. I have only ever used a manual toothbrush before and after using this one, I don't think I could switch back.

I previously had braces and have got a non-removable support wire behind my teeth that makes it really had to brush the back part of my teeth, since using the toothbrush I am finding it so much easier to clean.

I absolutely love this toothbrush and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comprehensive clean to their teeth.
