Brows on fleek seem to be the phrase that I hear at least 5 times a day, and I think that shows the importance we pay to our brows, and so when I got this product I was so excited.
It comes in a typical pencil design, with the pencil at one end, and the spoolie at the other. The design is really simple so of course it's easy to use, but I dislike how it’s not a mechanical pencil (I am lazy, and having to sharpen it is a bit of a pain). However, because it is a normal pencil design, it means it has more product than the mechanical pencils so that's a bonus.
I really like the formula of the pencil. It is pigmented, and really creamy which I know is not everyone's cup of tea, and I myself also prefer waxy pencils, but it’s nice to have some variety in my collection. My only grudge with the pencil is the thickness. It is quadruple the size of my brow wiz so I found it hard to create small movements with the pencil.
I also didn't like the spoolie. Yes it does the job, don't get me wrong! But it’s quite big and almost thick and I found it slightly heavy and rough of my brows. It’s not a big deal but I thought I would mention it.
Overall, I actually liked using this pencil. I use it by running the spoolie through my brows, defining and filling in my brows with the pencil, and then running the spoolie through again which creates a really natural, full brow! However, the brow doesn't last the whole day so I recommend setting it with a wet brow product if you have one handy.
My eyebrows are naturally very thin and very fair, so I'm always looking for products to make them look more defined and full! I'd been using a powder for a few weeks before trying this, which had been making my brows look seriously fake and drawn-on. This product was a definite improvement!
Maybelline Brow Precise had a soft pencil at one end, and a spoolie-type comb at the other end. It glides on smoothly, and makes it easy to create very natural looking, yet defined brows. I will definitely continue to use this - while remaining on the lookout for other brow saviours!
My skin is very fair, and my hair is light brown. For these tones I recommend the shade Soft Brown.
Tips: Apply the pencil in short strokes for natural looking brows, then comb through with the spoolie to tidy any stray hairs and disperse the product more evenly.
