I love using this shade when I do a gold or bronze smokey eye because it never creases and makes the colours I put on top more vibrant. I find that it works well with a brush and with my fingers. They do dry out quite fast but they're so cheap it doesn't matter too much

I have become obsessed with this product i now have quite a few in this range but i keep finding myself coming back to the gold!
The product is creamy and silky and you get a decent amount in the container which was great for the price (I think mine was $12.50 from NW). You dont need to use a lot of the product either which means it will last a really long time.. for these reasons i bought 4 or 5 different colours to try out different looks which has been fun.
The pigment and shimmer of this product is incredible, I find that applying this product with my finger and then patting a little gold eye shadow on top makes it last a lot longer than if just left alone. I like to use it along side the mayberlline hyper diamond palette (in brown and gold shade) just to blend out and create a smokey gold shimmery eye for a night out.
I feel this would be the perfect Christmas or New years eve look along with red lips just for something with a little sparkle to make you feel more special than your average everyday makeup.
Tips: Use an eye shadow or similar colour to set it to avoid having a crease mark.
I've tried a few of Maybelline's Colour Tattoos and "Bold Gold" is one of my favourites.
Like all of the Colour Tattoos, the formula is very pigmented and gives really good colour payoff. I've previously had the shade 'Eternal Gold' but I prefer this one much more as it's more of an antiquey gold as opposed to a yellow gold, with a shimmery finish. I normally apply eyeshadow using a brush, but I found this works best applied using my finger to blend it in.
The pot-style packaging works well with this product, the heavy glass pot with screw-top black lid looks a lot classier than a plastic shadow while letting you distinguish between colours if you have a few of them. They're also good if you're looking at a versatile product to take away with you as the packaging is really sturdy. I often use this as either an inner eye highlight or a pop of colour when I'm short on time.
In terms of longevity I find the colour wears well without creasing all through the day even without eye primer.
For the price you pay you get sooo much product and you really don't need to use a lot of colour making it really great value for money and I highly recommend you try Colour Tattoos if you haven't already.
Tips: Forget the brush, finger application is the way to go!
I'm actually quite surprised that I bought this.. I never really buy eye makeup (cough, now I do.. this has started an addiction). I'm pretty stubborn and usually stick to the same stuff (avid Rimmel buyer here), and considering I wear glasses - I have always felt that eye products (except mascara and liner) have always been a bit useless. These were definitely one of those things that found their way into my supermarket trolley on a Sunday afternoon, and I have never looked back.
The pigmentation is pretty good – but its not overly pigmented so it really lets you build the colour up so you can control the intensity. It’s the perfect shade of gold, not too yellow, not too greeny or pinky as I can find some golds to be. And the shimmer pay off is pretty fantastic. It’s pretty much perfection!
The formula is super creamy, makes it easy to use with your fingers (especially if you are rushed in the morning like I am) or even with a brush of your choice. Due to the formula being so creamy, it really leads to being easy to blended with other colours, and also rocks as an eye primer!
Lastly, the packaging is pretty rad. It’s nice and simple, a glass base with a basic black top with white/silver writing. Nice and easy to spot in a bag full of other random products!
Overall, I’m super stoked with Maybelline’s Color Tattoo in Bold Gold. It’s pretty much perfection!
Tips: This product also makes a great base for other products!
I purchased this after reading all the fab reviews right here and glad I did, I currently only have the bold gold but once I spot the other shades I think I'm going to have to grab a couple more.
Design wise this comes in a cute wee chunky bottomed glass with the details printed straight onto the lid in silver writing. Its an easy to use pot that is just the right size to pop a fingertip into or a small eyeshadow brush. The shadow looks like its been poured in a liquid form and set to a smooth creamy texture that almost melts as you touch it with a fingertip and blends smoothly over your eyelid to give a nice even coverage it really is a nice concept.
Colour payoff on this little pot of gold is intense, I did use it once all over the lid and edged with a bronze brown colour but now I use it as an accent colour on the inner corner of the eyes which this gold tone works well at making my eyes look more green than blue by picking up the gold flecks in there. It is true to its word when it says its a tattoo for staying put for a long period of time as it stayed where I put it without budging all day until I removed it with a makeup wipe, however I can not verify if it will stay put for 24 hours as I would never leave makeup on my face for more than 10-12 hours but could imagine that it would still be vibrant come the morning.
I recently bought the bronze shade in this and it is TO DIE FOR. It's a cream formulation in the pot that is quite dense. I swirl my finger in it and then apply in dabbing motions to my eyelid before blending out the edges with a brush. It stays on my lid all day without transfer or creasing. It is a stunning colour that is easily blended out with a brush or your finger. Perfect for mornings where you need some quick definition. It applies really well as a base for other shadows too! Holds the shadows on and keeps them lasting all day. The price point is really good. It's a great affordable option. I have tried the matte versions as well but definitely think the shimmers are the most impressive.
Tips: Apply with your finger and then blend out edges with a fluffy brush
This was a product I had wanted to buy for a long time, but for once in my life my self-control stepped in and told me ‘no you don’t need this’. Lucky for me, my secret Santa thought otherwise and I was gifted with this for Christmas.
I think this product is designed quite well. Firstly, it looks lovely. It comes in a small glass container, with a black plastic lid with the foil printed on the glass side of the container and the black plastic lid twists off to reveal the small container of golden eye shadow.
The gold eyes shadow has a creamy formula, and is very pigmented. However it feels quite solid when it’s touched because it’s almost pressed into the container. This means that a little bit (and I mean a little bit) goes a long way! So much in fact I have used this product numerous times and it still looks untouched. What I like about this cream eye shadow is that I can apply it softly for a subtle look, and apply a thicker layer for a more intense look. As well as that, this can just be used for a base for other eye shadows as well, so it has a dual purpose. Another aspect I like about this product is that it is really long wearing. It has great staying power by itself, and even better when an eye primer is applied beforehand.
I think this product is such a great thing to have in you makeup selection for both day time, and night time looks as well as a base. It’s really affordable, and lasts a long time, not just in the container, but also on your skin which is clearly where it gets its name from. . So what are you waiting for? Go buy it!
Mine is thick, almost like a pressed eyeshadow but creamy. Application is pretty straight forward, i use my finger and happily the jar is shallow and wide enough to get a decent lot on my finger before my nails hit the eyeshadow. It blends out really smoothly and the more coats the bolder the colour. The product didnt last 24 hours but it did stay on most of the day, until i wiped it off. Mine really does set like a tattoo, it dries almost instantly for me so any errors are sadly regretted. Thankfully its a quick clean with makeup remover but using ordinary baby wipes meant i had to scrub to remove it. I love the packaging, anything in a little glass pot takes my fancy. Definitely give it a try if you're wanting a stable shadow base.
I'm not sure if I just got a bad one but mine started off with a gross layer of hardened pigment on top. Getting through that however I've found a lovely, buildable gold cream shadow that is perfect for the holiday season. It looks so lovely on its own or as a base. Really buildable, you can decide exactly how intense you want to make it and very easy to blend. Doesn't move and doesn't fade at all throughout the day, which is amazing for my oily lids.
Tips: Apply it with your finger, don't worry about any sort of brush.
I picked this up at a clearance sale I wanted to give this eye shadow a try . I love how maybelline can be found at most stores. Easy to access brand.
Packaging comes in a glass pot with screw top lid . Feels sturdy . Consistency is creamy and pigmented . Application goes on well with my index finger and warms on the eye .
Overall this is priced fairly . It does a good job . I have purchased more shades from this line before .
