I am so happy with the La girl Ultra palette! The pigmentation is really good, much better than most palettes in this price range. The colours are lovely, quite unique and a good mix of matte and shimmer. The shadows are creamy and blend fairly easily. One criticism I have is that without a primer (I use Urban decay primer potion) the shadow creases and fades over time. Also some of the colours look quite different in the palette than they do on the skin. I've created several looks with this palette and have loved the result, the quality is great for the price.

Tips: The second eyeshadow from the left makes a gorgeous highlighter for the cheekbones!
I don’t own many palettes and wanted to start building up a bit of a palette collection without breaking the bank.
I’m also not much of an eye shadow wearer but seeing so many beautiful looks on the photo wall I really wanted to start experimenting and getting a bit more creative.
Because this had such a great price tag I couldn’t resist and choose the safest option for me the nudes palette.
I love the beauty brick packaging the cute book which opens up to a beautiful range of shimmery and matte nudes with a double ended brush and mirror on the inside. I didn’t use their brush for applications as I prefer my own shadow brushes but as far as brushes included in palettes go this wasn’t too bad and I would keep this as a spare.
Because I am the most impatient person in the world I couldn’t wait to try it as soon as I received it, I already had my makeup done but as I don’t generally wear eye shadow I put this straight over foundation. I used the matte lighter more natural nudes and the pigmentation was great. It was super smooth and creamy and glided on my eyelids beautifully.
I choose the matte nudes to experiment with first and absolutely loved it. It didn’t sit in my creases or anything like that. The only downside it really had was it didn’t last all day on me but to be honest at that price I’m not terribly concerned !
I have been playing with these ever since !. The shimmers the mattes they are all very highly pigmented and glide on super smoothly. I do use these with a eyeshadow primer to give the shadow some longer stay time and this generally takes me through my work day which is exactly what I’m after. I adore the nude palette really nice shades for my skin tone.
I will be buying more of these – with such an affordable price tag it’s a great way to experiment with colours and looks without breaking the bank but still receiving a good quality product.
I would definitely recommend this to people to try.
I have been fortunate enough to receive the Smoky LA Girl Palette from beauty review, to test out and give a review.
Now, where to begin.
1. Packaging I'm definitely the type of person who judges by the packaging and well... I can't say that I like or dislike the LA Girl Palette's look. It's simple, that's a plus for me. You can see the colours from the outside without having to open the palette, I like that too. There is big writing on the front to say what type of palette it is, so mine says SMOKY, so if I did happen to have all 4 LA girl palettes, well then I would be able to pick out the one I wanted easily! I own a few other eyeshadow palettes, all of the urban decay naked palettes, and I have a Coastal Scents eye palette too and the LA girl palette is easy to pick out from them since it's black and I can see the eyeshadow colours.
2. Inside When you open the palette you will find a nice double side brush for eyeshadow application, a mirror on top and 12 different eyeshadow colours. There is also a mix of shimmers and matte shades to choose from.
3. Application I like that there was a brush in the palette so I didn't have to go looking through my things to find a brush that would work. I used the brush that was given and firstly swatched the colours to see which colours I should use.. The colours weren't the same. Well, not EXACTLY the same as what was in the pan, but I wasn't surprised there since I have a few other palettes already and that was the same case. There aren't names for each eyeshadow like the naked palettes.. so I just kind of counted them off like, today I will use colour 11. (my fave one so far) I definitely liked the colours once I got used to them. You can use the mattes for everyday wear, nice but still subtle, and you can use the shimmers for a nice out. They colours went on nicely as long as I had primer on, I didn't have to use much eyeshadow to get the colours to stick.
4. Verdict I'm definitely happy with this palette. The colours are great, the are up there, if not the same level as my naked palettes. And for $15!? I think I need to get the other palettes ASAP!
Tips: ALWAYS use primer if you want the colours to pop, and of course if you want the eyeshadow to last all day.
After I saw the product up for trial on BR and not having any other palettes I set out to purchase this one as its a great price for a 12 colour palette.
It has nice simple packaging with a little magnet to keep it shut. It also come with a double end brush/sponge, was good to see a brush in there as a lot of eye shadows only come with the sponge.
I have the Smokey palette and the colours are super pretty. Not as pigmented as I thought they were going to be so you have to build it up a bit. No smell to them at all.
What let this down a little for me was after a few hours wear it did seem to go to the creases and not look so great, this may be fixed with a really good primer,(which I will try, haven't needed it with other eye shadows though).
The LA Girl Nude beauty brick palette comes in a simple yet sturdy lightweight glossy cardboard exterior case (which shuts closed nicely due to a small magnet contraption inside the lid) with a plastic/harder interior which holds the actual eyeshadows (I hope that makes sense lol) . It contains 12 eyeshadows, a small built-in mirror in the lid , and a long double ended brush/sponge applicator.
I've only used the brush end of the applicator and found the bristles to be super soft and sturdy. It didn't feel rough or scratchy against my skin. The brush is a bit on the small / less fluffy side though so I think it's best used to highlight the inner corners of the eye as well as the brow bone rather than been used as a blending brush.
The eye shadows come in 3 matte colours and 9 shimmers. Personally I would have preferred at least 1 or 2 more matte colours. I found that the more buttery/baked textured shimmers had less fallout and was easier to pick up than the more powdery matte colours. However all the colours build up really well and last all day/night long.
Over all I am super super super impressed with this eyeshadow palette. And for the price its a must have in every makeup lovers collection! I will definitely be repurchasing this in the future, along with the other 2 pallets :)
I currently own the Ultra Palette, but may be looking to buy more ;) First off the packaging of this palette is nice, sleek and simple. I am a fan of the colour scheme used, as the black and vibrant purple really stands out and makes it easy to find amongst other palettes. On the back of the box there is a suggestion on how and where to apply the eyeshadows, which I thought would be great help for makeup newbies. The interior of the box is nicely laid out, it features a good clear mirror, and there is also magnet which hold the lid in place when closed. The colours are also arranged beautifully, there is a nice transition between colour groups. Now on to the application. Well firstly there is a difference between the ways the colours look in the pan and on, and the colours are relatively sheer but are definitely buildable. However I strongly recommend the use of an eyeshadow base, I personally found the Maybelline Colour Tattoo eyeshadows in shade 05 or 70 worked particularly well and made the LA Girl shades vibrant and long lasting. Without the base eyeshadows the LA Girl colours wore off rather quickly. The colours within the Ultra palette are quite universal as all eye colours suit purples, and there is a range of cool and warm tones. All of the colours are shimmery, but can be mixed with neutral mattes to tone them done. This has swiftly become one of my everyday palettes as they add a nice pop of colour to my usual makeup routine. Overall I recommend this palette and believe it’s definitely bang for your buck.
Tips: Definitely use an eyeshadow base or a long lasting cream eyeshadow under this palette.
I own the palette in the Nudes version. The palette comes in simple black and nude cardboard packaging which feels a bit cheap, but for the price that is to be expected. Inside, the palette is made of sturdy nude coloured plastic and a small mirror is included. A brush also comes with the palette. The brush feels very cheap and wouldn't last long but it applies the eyeshadows quite nicely. The palette contains 12 nude shades, many of which are good dupes for the Naked 3 Palette shades. There are 3 matte shades in the palette and the rest are shimmer shades. I found that most of the shades are quite pigmented and show up very well on my eyelids. The shades all blend together very well for creating eyeshadow looks. I've had a lot of compliments on my eye makeup since I purchased the palette, particularly with the copper and nude pink brown shimmer shades in the palette. The only downside really to the palette is that the eyeshadows do not last long throughout the day and I find they crease and wear-off easily, even with eyeshadow primer. However, this only cost me $10 and I am very impressed with the quality, colours and amount of eyeshadows I got for the price.
Tips: Use a good quality eyeshadow primer to make the eyeshadow stay put.
I purchased the neons and naturals palettes after giving in over the cheap price and I didn't have a great collection of colourful eyeshadows and I wanted to experiment ! I love the naturals they have just enough pigmentation for my liking for everyday wear and the colours show up nicely, I love lots of the shimmer colours in the palette. I didn't find much use with the neons palette in all honesty, the colours weren't very pigmented for my liking of bright colours they were very subtle. Some colours were more pigmented then others, I found some of the colours chalky and didn't blend out that great or stick to my eyelids even with a primer. I did give away my neons one but kept my naturals palette as I find it's great for travelling since it has a great range of colours.
I purchased this palette over a month ago due to wanting a pop of color eyeshadow palette to create some fun eye looks.
I have always liked the way LA Girl packages these palettes as they look quite wicked. They aren't super sturdy as its made out of this shinny cardboard.
Now, the product isn't actually as pigmented as most people on the internet say it is. It maybe just the palette but I found the shades very chalky and the shades were very subtle even on a white base. I found these shadows hard to blend and hard to apply evenly on my eyelids.
I definitely wouldn't recommend this palette for a pop of colour.
I was lucky to review the L.A.Girl Palette Ultra. It is the perfect palette choice for me, because it has gorgeous purple tones. And did you know that no matter what eye colour you have purple works great to emphasize it? Yep, this is so true! I really liked that there are at least three colours of one colour scale in the palette. The range goes from pinks to greyish blue, purple and to brown. All the colours are shimmery why I substituted my base after a few times with another matte eye shadow. They are very soft and powdery but fortunately the colours do not seem to fall off when applying and afterwards. The single shades have a different consistency. Some are more pigmented and easier to blend than others. The packaging is not the highest quality, but a double-ended makeup brush is included that has a synthetic bristle flat brush on one end and a sponge-tip applicator on the other that is very good for applying. All in all I think this palette is a really good choice if you like shimmery colours. You get a lot for the relatively small price.
Tips: Try the colours before putting them on your eyelid. I found that it did look nothing like the colours in the pan.
