MAC's cream colour bases in the shades Lunar and Pearl are an essential for my freelance kit. They're super creamy and give off the most gorgeous natural glow. The colours I use are very versatile and so far have worked with all clients I have used them on. They are beautiful for photo-shoots and work well on camera. The only reason I did not give 5 whole stars is because although they are gorgeous I do not find them to be fit for all day wear. I have oily skin so throughout the day the product breaks down on my skin. This is why I only use it in my freelance kit (for photo-shoots).

Tips: Decant some product using a spatula on to your dish. Use your fingers to warm up the product then tap it across the desired areas you want highlighted.
I don't really care for cream products that much but I do really enjoy using this product underneath my powder highlight, to make it stand out more and to make it last longer. You can use mac cream colour bases for cheeks, lips and eyes but I have only used mine on my cheekbones. The consistency is creamy but I find that it almost totally dries down on my skin, I would prefer it to be slightly tackier for what I use it for as it would make my powder highlight adhere better. I've noticed that I do end up using quite a lot of product to get my desired outcome so I'm not sure how long it will last. Overall I'm not totally sure they're worth the price as I'm sure you can find something similar for a cheaper price point but they are a lovely, multi purpose product
This is a purchase I only made because Kathleen lights was wearing it and Oh-My-Gosh her face had that JLO glow, that that was a glow I wanted for myself so in the cart it went.
This product come in a circular compact with a see-through flip up lid that has the iconic MAC logo on it.
This product is stunning, even in the pan before it is swatched. It is a beautiful cream based product, that has a pearly shimmer to it. Drool! A swatch of this gives an amazing white highlight that is enough to make any highlight lover drool.
I tend to use this with a stippling brush, to try and get the product even dispensed over the highpoints of my cheek, but i find it really hard to get even coverage, and i cant get the glow that i get from a swatch. I also use it over blush to add a glow to my skin.
I actually passed this product along because although the glow was pretty in the pan, I just couldn't find a way to use it that gave me the highlight I wanted. I did find it lovely to use as a blush topper, but i rarely reached for it and it was neglected so there was really no point in me keeping it.
This product is super creamy and therefore looks much more natural than powder highlighters! I have this in the colour pearl and it's beautiful. I find you do need to set it as because it is so creamy, can tend to rub off
Tips: Set it with a powder highlight for that extra glow and to ensure it lasts all day
I tend to run towards highlighting products however I should've given this one a miss. There's no denying the colour is beautiful; a solid swatch reveals a gorgeous iridescent ivory sheen and when blended out it looks like what I think Strobe cream would look like as a cream blend and this is the reason why it’s received 3 stars and not 2. I just don’t like the formula; it’s “blendable” but I feel that you when used as a highlight on your cheeks that you have to put a bit more effort to blend than usual so that it doesn’t look patchy.
I struggled to find a technique that worked well for me. When using a stippling brush the product clung to the bristles and if I wasn’t careful it would leave streak marks. I also found that I couldn’t take my dandy time because it dried a tad faster than expected. I tried using a damp sponge (spritzed with Fix+) but I was losing the intensity of the highlight and when packing on more I ended up moving the product.
I settled on applying the product with my fingers because I was able to warm up the product to make it easier to work with but I still felt that I had to put in a bit more effort to blend it out. Personally I don’t like applying any highlight with my fingers because the precision just isn’t there.
The longevity of the product is quite good; it lasted 5-6 hours on my oily skin before showing signs of fading. This looks lovely on the cupid’s bow and as an added highlight on the centre of the lips but there’s was no way I wanted to hold onto a product that was purely for those 2 things – so out it went.
Yes this was an impulse buy due to a YouTube blogger named Kathleen! She was using this as a cream highlighter and I brought Pearl.
Coming in a rounded pan pot, in keep with MAC other packaging, this looks like the individual blush compacts, with its see through acrylic lid that snaps shut under a black acrylic body. The pan inside holds a creamy silver coloured base.
Pearl is a shimmering silver with an opal sheen to it, I have used a few times and found it sits pretty in the areas I usually highlight on top of my foundation before I add setting powder. A high beam that can be seen from space! across the tops of my cheeks, under eyes and cupid bow. It does feel greasy when you first take it out of the pan with a fingertip but once it melts onto your skin it blurs and blends out to a soft effect that doesn't look like an oil slick.
I'm still unsure how often I would use it, mainly because I do prefer working with brushes and powders
Absolutely love this under my foundation and on top! I love putting on my Cupid's bow to make my lips really pop! Have had this product for so long and I still have so much left! I find it too harsh for everyday though and much prefer using it for special occasions or going to town
LOVE. This product is one of the best things to happen to my face ! I love using under my foundation for a subtle highlight or over the top of my foundation for a more intense highlight. I love placing it on my cheek bones down my nose and on my Cupid's bow ! I love using this product with a brush or with my fingers ! When I am sick this product brings life back to my face !
Tips: Use a brush for the most seamless look and do not apply on top of powder as it is a cream product
I have MAC Colour Base in the shade Hush. It is a gorgeous peachy highlight. It gives a beautiful highlight that looks really natural. I love cream highlights as it gives that lovely dewy look. It also looks beautiful on the lids for a minimal look.
I usually like to apply with my fingers with a dabbing motion. It can be built up for a more dramatic look.
I love that it isn't at all glittery but leaves a beautiful sheen.
A little goes a long way, so even for the price it will last a long time. I have had mine for 6 months and it hasn't dried out at all.
Looks gorgeous with a matte cream blush!
Love this highlighter for a natural glow. Can be used with or without a base. I find using a cosmetic wedge the best way to apply as you can pinpoint the areas you want to highlight and easily blend out the edges. Also good as a base for a powder highlight to really up the glow!
Tips: Makeup sponge or wedge makes application easy - also lovely to add to bottom lip to increase appearance of full lips
