I only bought these at a makeup sale as OPI is expensive. The shatter effect is good (if applied thick and evenly), but it does chip quite quickly. Within the day of application, if you wadh dishes or do housework, the polish will chip instantly! I found avon shatter to be more hard wearing and cheaper. Definitely don 't think it is worth the price for the short lasting wear.

Tips: Apply a thick and even coat for the best shatter effect
I have tried a various assortment of shatter/crackle nail polishes over the years but the OPI ones are the ones that I keep going back to. In fact I now have almost every colour! My fav colour is the gold, it makes almost every colour you out it with look fantastic! The wide brushes mean you only need to do two swipes on each nail, any more and you get it too thick and it does not 'shatter'.
Tips: They do go a bit gloggy in hot weather so keeping them in the fridge is a must.
I loved the look of the shatter affect, I only bought the black one because it looked great with a bright colour underneath. It looks really cute but it can take a bit of practice before you get it right, it dries super quick so if you don't get it right with the first stroke you can't go back and correct it unless you take off all the nail polish and start again. And it can be really iffy trying to get that perfect balance of not too thick and not too thin so you get a good shatter, but when you get there it's totally worth it.
Tips: Practice makes perfect, it might take a few goes before you really get the hang of it
I have most of the colours this came in (I won my first 2 through zm and became a little obsessed at the time) and the different colours were a bit temperamental, some colours worked perfectly, whereas others I had to be a bit more careful applying or it was too thin/not the best effect. Overall I did love these.
Tips: Make sure you are prepared - you need to work quickly to get it looking good
I really love the shatter nail polish by OPI :) It looks really cool when applied especially when it's a dark shatter over a light base and vice versa. The shatter nail polish can be a little temper-mental if not applied promptly which is a little annoying but practice makes perfect :) I think the price is suitable as it gives normal nail polish a wow factor. I currently own 2 shatter nail polishes by OPI but hope to own more soon :)
Tips: Apply a really strong base coat and a nice clear coat on top once finished to protect the shatter :)
I want to begin by saying that this product is true to it's word. Quick acting. And quick drying. It easily gives you the shatter effect that is desired by using this product. However the effect is not for me! I personally don't like the effect, so didn't enjoy this product as much as anticipated.
You can have a matte 'shatter' by skipping the top coat. Or put a clear over top to get a more glossy look (which also helps it last longer).
I see shatter comes in a few colours, but i only tried black, which is an easy colour to go with many base coats.
Great product. Just not for me.
I bought this a long time ago when it first came out as I was all about trying the latest nail trends at the time. I got this in navy, and silver. Why I got those colours specifically I have no idea. I still have the Silver one but I think it is about to go in the rubbish once I have finished writing this review as I don't see me ever wearing it again. Such a shame considering how expensive OPI nail polish can be.
As with usual OPI nail polishes the packaging is lovely. The brush itself is quite flat which I find great to apply nail polish as you can get the polish across the whole nail quite quickly and easily. I love with the shatters it has a plastic cover on the lid showing the crackled effect so I know it is the shatter polish from the top rather than my usual silver polish.
This product can be quite difficult to apply as you need to get one even coat on. You only have one chance as it begins to crackle as soon as it is on the nail and starts drying. This can be quite difficult but due to the crackle effect it can hide a lot of mistakes as it is supposed to look somewhat messy. I don't like my nail not feeling smooth as I think it makes me feel like my nails are messy rather than elegant/classy. This also hides cracks at the tips of your nails for a while too due to the multiple colours/textures going on. I find the Silver one looks particularly good over a black polish.
I feel like this was a fad that I am glad is no longer popular (was it actually ever?). But can still be fun for a night out or special occasion.
p.s. I had to rate it highly on 'did it do what it said it would' because it does, i just won't use it again or tell anyone else to buy it.
I love, love, love opi, but the shatter range is not that great. I either end up with a thick layer of polish but a nice shatter design, or a nice amount of polish with hardly any shatter design. This could be a result of not quite knowing the correct way to use it, I have quite a few shatter bottles so I have plenty of time to perfect the shatter look.
If you get this look right, it is amazing and will look stunning in a lot of colour combinations. I would recommend doing a base coat and then a base colour and waiting a long time to apply the shatter. I love using my black shatter on any colour nails and my white shatter on pastel colour nails. I'm not so fussed on the brighter colours. I love OPI nail polish and this one was a great idea.
Tips: Make sure you shake the bottle REALLY well. Apply to a very dry base coat and get a decent amount on the brush so you only have to sweep 2 to 3 times to cover the nail. If you put it on top of itself it will not work!
I honestly love this shatter. I got one as a gift and of course i had to try it instantly, I found i liked it better when there were bigger shatters which you had to apply a thick even coat. The only downside is you only have one shot for each nail but you get better over time. For it to last longer i just applied a clear top coat when it dried. The only downside was that it can go a bit lumpy and to solve that i just warmed it up a bit by rubbing it together. In the end i loved it and will continue using it.
Tips: Warm it up between your hands if its lumpy Apply a clear coat over top for it to last longer
