Bio oil makes a decent moisturiser, and i think that's about it. It makes a lot of claims about miracles it can perform like reducing the appearance of stretch marks, however many scientific studies show nothing topical has a significant effect on reducing stretchmarks appearance, beyond just basic moisturising. The fragrance and colouring also has the potential to be very irritating to sensitive skin. It's fairly expensive, especially considering one of the main ingredients is basic mineral oil. I have some at home, which I will continue to use, but I won't bother repurchasing

Tips: Better off sticking to baby oil which is $1 per 100ml, as opposed to bio oil which is $20 per 100ml
Everyone always seems disappointed with this product. It claims to reduce scarring, stretch marks etc. but almost everyone gets fed up with non-existent results after a few weeks. I am here to tell you to stick it out...seriously. I picked up this product because I had bad scarring from getting some warts removed on my leg when I was younger. The scars were so obvious and I hated it so much, so because of Bio-Oils claims to reduce scars I bought it. I used it according to the directions twice daily. Their website does say that for scarring it needs to be used for 3 months before seeing results. This is true. So after 3 months I saw results, 3 and a half months later, the scars were completely gone. This is completely true! I think the 3 month thing puts people off, but if you wait those 3 months it 100% works. Perhaps I was lucky because the scars were fairly new, it doesn't work as well on older scars. But seriously if you have new scars or stretch marks with a recent pregnancy I would totally recommend this product. You really need to stick it out though for the minimum 3 months, because you won't see results before then. But take it from a real life experience, my scars have gone and I did nothing but apply bio oil in the way it was directed.
Tips: Wait it out, wait the 3 months to see results, be patient!!!
I find this upsets my skin in the long term (in the first few days it hydrates but then your skin gets used to the mineral oil and it interferres with natural oil production and It starts breaking out and devleoping dry patches) and I cannot tolerate the smell it is so overpowering it impregnates your clothing and interferres with all of my perfumes.
Tips: If you are using this and having good results you may possibly save yourself money by just applying baby oil as Mineral oil is the same ingredient in both products and the main component of Bio-oil.
Bio Oil had a huge rave when it first came out, so of course having scars and stretch marks i had to get it. But i found that it was very greasy, even it being an oil. I didnt like the smell of it. I think the lid to the bottle could of been a pop lid instead of a twist lid but that is my personal opinion. The used the bio oil for about three months and didnt notice much difference. It wasnt a miracle worker like other people but it out to be. This isnt the most expensive product in its range but for the quality it didnt work for me. Personally I will not be buying this product again.
When you get very dry skin that has become painful then this should be your first stop. I love Bio OIl as I use it for rashes or cracked dry skin which I get even though I regularly moisturise, sometimes your skin needs extra especially when on the hormonal train as Bio OIl doesn't make me break out in spots either which is awesome. The fact that its natural is an added bonus. Heard it was good for stretch marks so I think when I get pregnant I'll be lathering this on like butter :)
I used this for months. I bought multiple bottles and applied religiously every day. I really stuck to it but this stuff did nothing except cost far too much! Next time I want cheap smelling mineral oil I'll buy it at the dollar store. It didn't nourish my skin, just felt greasy and smelt really artificial. It also made no difference whatsoever to my scarring or stretch marks which iswwhy I began using it.
Tips: Rosehip oil is better for scarring and stretchmarks, coconut oil is better for your skin (it's also cheaper and non perfumed!). There are far better ways to spend your money. Over hyped. *I'd also like to mention that mineral oil (which is mainly what this is made from) cannot absorb into your skin. It just sits on top, and can cause a lot of irritation in some skins.
Wanted to love this after all the claims it made about minimising scaring, but I used it religiously without seeing any remarkable difference. Wasn't to bad for helping with dryness, but stretch makes or scaring didn't touch it.
I love this product. It must have some magic which helps the cells so with daily use skin health is improved. I prefer to use Bio Oil, rather than a moisturiser, on my legs as it is still 'working' at the end of the day.
Tips: Use Bio Oil daily... and thank you to the person who recommended it to me..
I used this with all my pregnancies(pretty much 4 years straight) even though it didn't work the first time, and it didn't make any difference with stretch marks and skin tone! It's pretty much just a scented oil(not a very nice scent either, but I got used to it) I say an overpriced oil too, seeing as it doesn't do what it says. It was good for dry skin though, obviously, because it's oil based. To be fair, others I know claim it has worked for them, so it guess it just wasn't for me..
Oil consistency is great, but can get a bit greasy as it takes a bit longer to be absorbed into skin. I have used this for my stretchmarks after pregnancy. After 5 months of use have noticed a slight fading but not as much as I was hoping. It does say use it twice a day and as a busy mom of a newborn havent really followed thru. I think for this product to work, one has to definitely use it consistently twice a day and for a very long time.
Tips: Can make skin feel smooth and absorbed faster when mixed with body lotions/moisturiser before application.
