I picked this little beauty up at my local Farmers, I am going through a blush phase at the moment and I am normally drawn to the more pinky toned colouring but I thought I would branch out and try the coral reef. I have quite dry skin so I normally stay with the powders.
These come in little flat pots with a black screw top lid. When I opened this up I was a little bit petrified to use the coral reef as it’s a very vibrant orangey/coral colour. I tried to apply this first using a stippling brush because I thought it might not be so overpowering but it was quite hard to work with using a brush so I resorted to using my fingers. I am normally not a fan of using my fingers at all to apply a product that you’re going to have to continue to dip those fingers in time and time again but really it was the best way to apply this. It was much easier to apply using your fingers and it did give a really natural looking flush.
It isn’t super pigmented which I think is a good thing, you an easily build this up but you’ll never get a crazy over made up look it definitely doesn’t apply like it looks in the pot . For me this was great was more of a natural flush but if you’re hoping for a more striking look this probably wouldn’t be the product for you.
It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and it dries to a kind of powder type finish – hard to explain but you do have to layer it up a little and then it settles into an almost powdering feeling but not quite it’s really hard to explain the texture of this blush. It claims up to 8 hours on the skin but that wasn’t the case for me , it probably lasted just over half the day till later afternoon maybe – if I was going out somewhere after work I would need to touch up and reapply, it kind of just disappears into your skin.
I am really pleased I tried this blush I think I still prefer a powder blush texture myself but it was nice to branch out of my comfort zone and try a different colour and texture. Probably wouldn’t purchase again though.
Tips: This would be best suited to fairer skin types I think - I think if you had a darker complexion it might be hard to get this product to build up enough to show.
