I originally bought this product just after it was released. I absolutely love mint and a genuine minty fragrance. I thought this would be perfect to use for my morning showers when I feel like I need to wake myself up! The minty smell I thought would be a refreshing, perfect start to the day. The fragrance definitely leaves you feeling nice and clean, and the smell lingers and it definitely helps make you feel awake. The fragrance gets a definite 5 out of 5 from me.
The product is a creamy white consistency, and contains very small exfoliating beads. The beads appear to be evenly spread throughout the product. If you enjoy a mint fragrance, you will love the smell of this body wash. It is fresh and minty. The body wash is really thick white and creamy which did not dry out my skin but rather seemed to moisturise it as I used the exfoliator in the shower. I must add here that because the cream is so thick the presence of the beads is barely felt. I did not feel as if I had used an exfoliating cream but rather a body cream. The appearance of the cream gets a 5/5 from me, the feel of the cream and the moisturising abilities a 4/5. It is the thickness of the cream that I feel inhibits the beads from doing their job effectively so I would give the exfoliating factor a rather sad 3/5.
The product comes in a see through bottle; it is a nice big bottle. The price is very affordable and you feel like you are getting a bargain when you pick up the bottle as it is nicely shaped, with gentle curves and it is made with what appears to be very thick, sturdy, expensive, luxurious clear plastic. The bottle gives the perception that it will be easy to use. This is where the problem begins. My issue is with the thick hard plastic that the bottle is made of. Whilst it is easy to use the initial few “squirts” from the bottle it them becomes damn near impossible!!! Not matter how I shook, threw, jerked, squeezed or squashed the bottle is securely held its contents, much like Aladdin’s cave did not want to give up its treasures this bottle held onto its exfoliating lotion. (And yes I even tried open sesame along with many other words as I desperately tried to get the lotion out of the bottle!) I must say I contemplated cutting it open, throwing it away or just letting the kids have it! For the appearance of the bottle I would give it a 4/5. For the ease of use of the bottle an incredibly sad 1/5.
I was lucky enough to get a couple of these trial size bottles in the mail. I totally thought it was body butter. Talking to friends they told me what it was. Ok well that was lucky!
I took them into hospital with me knowing a fresh exfoliating item would make me feel great. Well so I thought.
The bottle shape is really nice. Easy to hold. Easy to open. That's where the easy finished! In hospital I couldn't shower on my own, I had to have a nurse or my husband with me. So I tried squeezing this out and the first bit came out. I couldn't squeeze it hard enough to use it. So I gave it to the nurse, she struggled. Next shower I gave it to hubby thinking I was just weak due to surgery. "What a fool of a thing!" Was his reply (again)
So the contents is really really thick! The bead things get lost in the thickness, you can't feel them. The smell was ok, just not mmmmm yum. It did feel to moisturise slightly. Not a drying out formula.
So I won't be buying it again mainly due to the bottle. If you can't use a small one, how can you use the big one and get it all out! It's not flat that it could be turned upside down. I think the company have a good start of a idea, just hasn't been followed through properly!
