Not as good as I'd hoped

Disclaimer - this is a first impressions review. I received the products on Thursday, and started using them on Friday. This review was written Sunday. I'll be coming back to update this at some stage soon! :)

Hair situation: Mine is shoulder length, and half year-old dye, half my natural silver grey.

Both: the packaging is attractive - I love the shorter squatter bottle shape. The pumps are securely locked initially, and when released dispense a good amount of product easily. I like the colouring, it vibes clean, fresh and modern. I absolutely hate the pointless extra labels that pop up - removed them immediately, and was mad at them for existing. Neither the shampoo nor the conditioner have a discernable scent. My hair dried (with a drier) pretty quickly after using this range, and blow dried reasonably smooth. After using my straightener it needed serum but looked good.

Shampoo: clear in colour, which distinguishes it from the conditioner easily and stops the moment of picking it up in the shower to check which is which. Lathers to quite a lot of foam, and the foam is quite light and airy. On first use the dyed ends of my hair felt a little dry after this, but we'll persevere. The non dyed upper parts felt nicer, so could just be the nature of the two parts of my hair. Washed out really easily from my hair, and didn't leave a scent. I use two pumps.

Conditioner: thick and white, but needed 2-3x more conditioner than I did shampoo per use. This is pretty usual for supermarket brands, in my experience. I usually double condition my hair, but on the first use of this range I chose to use just this conditioner and see what happened. It coats hair well when you have enough of it, and has a slightly slippery texture to it that helps it move through hair well but made me wonder if it was sitting on my hair or actually soaking in. It's a little harder to wash out than the shampoo, again due to the texture of the product, i think, but only a little and still rinsed out cleanly. My hair didn't feel QUITE as hydrated as with my usual products, but I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt.

After washing, drying and straightening my hair, it felt nice - clean and soft - but had definitely gone a tiny bit frizzy and dry looking, and needed a serum to calm down. This continued through the 2nd and 3rd washes, but didn't get any worse. I'll likely stick to using this every 2nd or third wash, with the more hydrating products in the middle. The non dyed part of my hair seems to like this a lot better than the dyed part, so it could well be that this isn't a hydrating enough range for the dyed parts of my hair. I'm a major micellar skincare fan and was keen to see what it did for hair, but...... meh.

Tips: I got better results applying conditioner to the lengths to protect them from the shampoo when washing my roots, then rinsing it all out and re-conditioning lengths :)

Update: shampoo bad, conditioner okay. Have given the regime away so someone else can try it. The shampoo dried my hair out more and more.

Mixed opinions

My review of the regime is mixed as my hair really didn't respond well to the shampoo at all, but the conditioner was fine, so in future I would only use the conditioner and not the regime together. The shampoo and conditioner both come beautifully packaged in semi-transparent blue pump bottles. I thought the packaging for the regime was stunning for supermarket products and the pump bottles made the regime so user-friendly in the shower and ensured no wastage of products. The fragrance unfortunately, wasn't my favourite. The shampoo and conditioner have the same basic scent, which I can only describe as reminding me of like acne/face-wash products that have that kind of strange artificial cleaning scent, which isn't the kind of aroma I enjoy on my hair. In the shampoo was the scent was very strong, but it was quite subtle in the conditioner thankfully. I have my hair bleached to blonde, so it's more sensitive to hair products, and unfortunately the shampoo was not a match for my hair, although the conditioner was fine. The shampoo I think might have over-cleaned my hair, it lathered up well but straight away my hair felt super dry and straw like and I ended up with frizzy roots. It was so drying I don't think after the trial I would use it again. The conditioner was able to resolve some of the drying out the shampoo did to my hair, but not all of it. The conditioner did a decent job, it did everything a conditioner should do and it didn't dry my hair out, but it definitely wasn't the best supermarket conditioner I've tried and I didn't have any particularly special results from it. I think it's definitely a conditioner you can purchase and you won't go wrong with, but it just wasn't anything to be amazed about. I've given the regime 2 out of 5 on all ratings as the shampoo brought the regime down for me, I would score the conditioner a 3 on all scoring points, but I had such a bad time with the smell of the shampoo and its effects on my hair that I can't score the regime much higher. I caution my review though with the fact my hair is bleached and that undyed or bleached hair would probably have fine results with this, my hair is definitely more sensitive and the regime promised to be gentle, and I think the shampoo just wasn't as gentle as it promised to be.

Tips: A small amount of both the shampoo and conditioner go a long way, so use sparingly.
