Recently I had a bad time with folliculitis in both of my underarms. In trying to make this disappear, I decided to give natural deodorant a try. Although I had read Renees review below saying this was stinky, I have this and another Lush deodorant a try.
This comes in a clear sleeve with a sticker containing the ingredients list. It is an off white bar with a pattern stamped in on one side. The scent is quite strong and smells heavily of patchouli - so if you're not a fan of that scent veer away from this.
I had read online that it was suggested that you pinch a small piece of this off and roll that into your armpit skin. I tried doing this and found that I was left with small white balls under my arms where the product hadn't melted completely. When my folliculitis went away, I simply ran the bar over my underarms a few times and this was a far easier way to use it.
This definitely works. I personally like the smell of patchouli, and I have had a few compliments when wearing this. It is quite a strong smelling deodorant and noticeable to others. Whilst it doesn't prevent you from sweating (it doesn't claim to be an anti perspirant), it does mask the smell of body odour exceptionally well.
Overall I am pleased with this. I wish it were a little easier to apply but I really like the scent and I think the bar will last a long time. Since using this I am converted to natural deodorants and will repurchase his in the future.
When I did my Lush Boxing Day order I got a small sample bar of this. It smells really strong smell. Wow, I never realized patchouli smelt like that! I didn’t like the smell but since I had run out of my other natural deodorant I thought to try using this. So far it seems to cut down on the armpit stench and body odour but it’s clearly not an anti-perspirant. I stick to using this on days when I’m home and wearing my workout clothes where I’m going to be working out anyway. I find rotating deoderants makes anti-perspirants much more effective. But I would never wear this to work or when I leave the house, it’s okay for bedtime if you don’t want to wake up with really stinky armpits. For a few days it seemed fine I stored it in a glass jar since it’s a solid bar but oh boy, whenever I open the jar and the scent hits me, ewww. I can’t wait to use this up and as it seems to have the patchouli scent with a hint of my sharp armpit odour. The pros I can think of this deodorant is that it lasts for ages and has more natural ingredients and that it does stop some armpit odour. Well, at least if I sweat patchouli sweat on my clothes the moths will be repelled, I just gotta figure out how not to repel people that aren’t my close family using this. :-)
Tips: Definitely ask for a sample or at least have a sniff of the bar before you buy. Luckily I got this as sample and so far I don't think this would find it way on to my Lush wishlist or be on the list of things I'd repurchase.
