Not for me.

I've tried this a couple of times, but I just don't like it.

I find that the texture is a bit grainy, which I find weird, although I guess it's just something that you can get used to over time.

It does a perfectly fine job at cleaning your teeth, which is the important thing, and it does get rid of 'morning breath' (ew, yucky!) as well.

However the main reason I won't reuse, is that I just can't get past the taste. This is a personal thing, but I have to use minty-flavoured toothpaste or I don't feel like I've cleaned my teeth properly, no matter how silly that is. For that reason, plus the texture-issue, I won't repurchase.

If you're not worried about mintiness, however, it could be worth a try.

Hope that helps some of you! xx

The Taste Bleurgh!

I'm really hesitant to review this product. To be entirely fair I didn't give it a proper go and I feel I can't really comment on it's effectiveness.

I only used this a few times before rushing out and buying a regular chemical laden toothpaste. My reason? The taste!

I could not get past that taste. The reason why I am reviewing is because, as on oral product, I feel taste is one of the defining drivers behind purchase. I am no fan of aniseed and upon opening I knew I had made a terrible mistake. It's also sweetened with stevia which I find gives a highly unpleasant mouth finish.

It did do a serviceable job of cleaning my teeth though so I wouldn't shy away from recommending it (I passed on the tube to a friend in fact)

Tips: Read the ingredients first on all products if, like me, you have taste aversions. A lesson I should have learnt a long time ago but repeat often

Not convinced..

Received this in a Bridal Goodie bag and have been contemplating to switching to natural Toothpaste for awhile as I am pretty conscious of fluoride etc..

First impressions based on packaging were hopeful. This sounded like this was the answer to what I had been searching for.

I generally use 'whitening' Toothpaste and this one isn't although the brand does do a baking soda version for that purpose.

First impression on the product itself.. Easy to squeeze tube. Smells pleasant... Taste... Odd very odd... At first I wasn't sure I was going to be able to brush my Teeth for as long as usual as I am pregnant and funny things are prone to making me gag! Is the taste unpleasant? Sort of... Its a very stevia, herbal, menthol concoction and you can taste it!

Result.. Honestly.. My teeth do not feel anywhere near as clean as when I use other Toothpastes or even whitening Toothpastes.. My Teeth are also not looking anywhere near as white or clean as they do with other Toothpastes..

I haven't got used to the taste... I think I will just use this until its finished and might purchase the baking soda version instead and see if its any better for me!

Tips: Great if you are conscious of what is in your Toothpaste and that is your only concern.

Fluoride-free so not for me

I picked this up at the supermarket one time as I read 'natural herbal' and thought it might be interesting to try as I had been trying out some more natural products. My tired brain didn't click that 'natural' would mean 'fluoride-free' and it wasn't until I later read the packet I realised this. I am very pro-fluoride and unfortunately knew straight away I wouldn't be using this after the tube was through but I thought I might as well give it a go.

This has a slight herbal taste which I found pretty unusual. It's not too overwhelming but it's not much to my liking and I still prefer the taste of a normal minty toothpaste, I find it leaves my mouth feeling a lot fresher.

I also think the texture is really bizarre, it could just be because I'm used to the smoothness of a standard toothpaste but this one felt really gritty. It reminds me a lot of that gritty paste you get given at the dentist.

In terms of performance, I haven't noticed much difference in the few weeks I have been using it to my usual toothpaste except in whiteness. I normally use a whitening toothpaste as I drink a LOT of coffee, despite the claim to whiten teeth I found my teeth looking slightly more discoloured than normal.

I won't be repurchasing this again.

Natural toothpaste anyone? Not for me...

This toothpaste was sitting in my bathroom cupboard for awhile before I decided to open it, as I normally use my trusty Colgate. When that ran out I remembered I had this toothpaste that I got free in a goodie bag with a magazine purchase.

Red Seal is a brand I normally associate with vitamins, so I was interested to try this. It is all natural. Although all natural appeals to me for skincare, it doesn't really attract me to toothpaste for some reason, as I am used to my usual fluoride in toothpaste to protect my teeth.

The packaging is very simplistic and emphasises the natural theme. The tube is standard, coloured white, with a flip top cap.

Firstly, the taste of this toothpaste is very unpleasant, looking at the ingredients I think it's the strong taste of Stevia coming through mixed with a few other herbal concoctions. Unfortunately, this would have to be the worst tasting toothpaste I have tasted.

Secondly, I really feel this toothpaste doesn't do a good job of cleaning your teeth thoroughly. My breath didn't feel as fresh using this and I felt like I needed to clean my teeth again with proper toothpaste!

Also, I really look for toothpastes to be whitening for my teeth, but this product really doesn't do that.

Overall I'm not impressed with this toothpaste, and I am glad I got it as a freebie. I would not repurchase this in the future.

No fluoride but still contains SLS and glycerine

Great herbal fresh taste (especially the smokers variety which is also a fantastic tooth whitener due to the dolomite powder it contains) however this product range annoys me a little as despite it's claims to be natural and fluoride free (which I agree should be avoided) most of the varieties still contain SLS which is a known problem chemical for many people and present in all main-stream brands. Also the smokers variant which was the last tube I bought contains sodium saccharin as a sweetner which is another toxic chemical I would want to avoid. It also concerns me that many natural brands are still including glycerine as a major component of their toothpastes which is linked to tooth decay and prevents re-mineralisation of enamel (you can research online for more information about this). Overall an ok and affordable option if you are trying to avoid fluoride containing mainstream brands but this is another green-washed brand of toothpaste in my opinion.

Unusual Toothpaste

I bought this toothpaste recently because I'd seen some good reviews on BR and noticed it on special for $2.99. I had tried it years ago and didn't particularly like it then.

Firstly the packaging is beyond plain and a little off-putting. Then the second thing I noticed and remembered from last use, was the unusual taste, which I don't really like. And I didn't really notice it whitened my teeth either.

As far as toothpaste goes, it is very ordinary in terms of performance, and I didn't think it particularly impressive in terms of breath freshening or cleaning. It didn't seem any more effective in preventing build up of plaque than any other toothpase.

Personally I wouldn't buy it again. I would only recommend it to someone who was very keen to use a herbal alternative to traditional toothpaste.

In its favour, it is quite economical and readily available at supermarkets.
