Amazing, natural finish powder

I have this in ethereal light and dim light and I love them both! Such a lightweight powder, that sets your base really well without looking powdery or heavy. It adds a subtle radiance to your skin, and doesn't make my skin feel dry and mask like as some powders can.

I also LOVE this as a touch up powder, as it doesn't cake or look heavy, even when applied over a full face which has been on all day! Takes down the excess shine and adds a slight boots of colour without being too much

You'd understand if you tried this

My sister thinks I'm nuts. When I'd talk about how much I wanted the Hourglass Ambient Lighting palette she'd bring up the price and say 'it's just pressed powder', I felt one of us must have a problem and I couldn't accept that it was me. So I brought the palette. And I have to say, she's the one missing out.

The palette contains 3 shades, Dim Light, Incandescent and Radiant Light. I'm pretty sure Incandescent is the only shade limited to the palette, but the other 2 are sold in seperate compacts.

The palette packaging is very sleek but sturdy. It has a shiny bronze case with a simple gold Hourglass logo. It has a click closure and a mirror the goes the whole length of the compact. Inside sit the 3 beautiful powders, each being 3.3g.... I imagined they were bigger, let's be real, I wish they were as I'm going to cry when I hit pan.

From the left you have:

Dim Light, my mist used. I love it as a setting powder, under the eyes and everywhere! These powders give your skin the most amazing finish.

Incandescent is what I love to use as a highlighter, on top of the cheek bones, nose and Cupid's bow. It has the most beautiful subtle glow without any glitters.

Radiant Light Is the darkest shade, it's beautiful for adding very subtle warmth to the entire face.

I'm so happy I purchased this palette, it hasn't disappointed me at all!

I want this sooo bad! It's a shame that they're not larger, but I guess it is a good way to try each of the colours out...They will probably last ages though!!! x

I'm sooo keen to try these, but the price always puts me off. But you've convinced me, this is going to the top of my wishlist (after no-buy Feb haha). :) Great review! x

Glowy and dewy from within

Wow. I was so excited to finally purchase this product, as Hourglass is a pricey brand. I did only manage to purchase the mini size, however I would recommend doing this with more expensive brands, to test the product before committing to the full size. I purchased the shade Dim Light. This works well when I have fake tan on, however it's too dark and warm toned for when I'm not tan. The range only has a couple of other shades, which is not a large selection.

Other than that this product is amazing. All it takes is a light dusting to provide your skin with a luminous glow. Although this skin provides a glowing and dewy finish, it does not emphasise pores or texture. If anything it minimises pores. It makes your skin look healthy, which pairs great with a foundation that may have mattified your skin and made it look too flat and one dimensional.

Flawless finish

I use this as a finishing powder although it can be used as a highlighter. It is perfect for a natural glow, I use Luminous Light which helps finish off my make up look. It is very easy to apply and creates an almost soft focus effect, totally worth the cost.

Tips: Can be used either all over your face or to highlight high points on the face.

Nice Powder

I dont usually wear powder, just BB Cream or a light foundation, but wanted to try this to see if it would blur my large pores and even out my skin tone. Purchased the smaller travel size from Mecca in the dim light shade. The mini compact is a flip top square with a mirror in the lid, you will need to purchase a brush. I used a little Nude by Nature kabuki brush. This powder is very lightweight and translucent but is good at blurring any light imperfections and pores. Just keep applying until you get the right effect you need. Use for highlighting cheeks as well. Gives face a nice subtle glow. Try the smaller size first to give it a go. Would recommend.

Ambient lighting palette, for all occasions!

I first tried one of the ambient lighting powders at Mecca Cosmetica. It gave me a lovely finish to my skin, and not surprisingly is nicknamed "Photoshop for the face". I wanted to try these again, and when on holiday in the US discovered there is a palette of 3 powders available from Sephora. I promptly picked this up and have fallen in love! The three shades are dim light, incandescent light and radiant light. Dim light is a nude powder which I use as a face powder all over my face. I use this powder very lightly, including to set concealer, and liken it to Mac's mineralise skin finish powder. Incandescent light is a white, shimmery, fine glittery powder which I use to highlight the top of my cheek bones. Radiant light is slightly more bronze and I use this as a light all over face bronzer. Thanks to this one powder, I have now become comfortable with using bronzer and even use other brands of bronzer on my face. I apply this with the Real Techniques blush brush which is big, soft and fluffy.

I'm extremely happy with this palette and now want the newly released Hourglass blush palette!

Tips: Buy the palette of three powders from Sephora. It's a great way to try more than one and so convenient for on the go!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is lusting after the new blush palette. I only have an individual powder at the moment but think I will splurge on both of those palettes when it is released.

So good

I’ve bought it just before the price went up an extra $10 dollars, so now this powder costs $83 at mecca.

It’s worth the money, even though it’s basically undetectable on the skin, it doesn’t even make sense!

I have diffused light which is yellow coloured, it doesn’t show up on the skin, no matter how much I use. I didn’t notice it would counteract any redness really, but makes my skin look really smooth and blurred out, just what I’m after. It doesn’t sit in my fine lines and also doesn’t bring out any dry skin areas to show and that’s always a plus. Makes me look so fresh and glowing, but matte at the same time.

This powder is very very finely milled, sometimes I use it on top of my setting powder and sometimes I use it instead, it works both ways for me. However this is actually a finishing powder, which means this goes on top of makeup after you set it with a setting powder, some people get confused. Finishing powder isn’t the exact same as a setting powder.

I love the luxe packaging, but for this price I kinda expect it too, to be honest. This is 10 grams in the full size, so it will last for ages no doubt. Pricewise it’s really not worth it to get the travel size, as that’s about half price for 1.3 grams.

Bronzer?

I love to use this powder as a bronzer! I find its such a great tone for my skin colour, and provides a nice bronzed look without being too orange or too dark. It blends out so well and I never seem to have any harsh lines.

Tips: A big fluffy brush and don't be too precise, just mimic the 3 on the side of your face and it looks flawless.

I don't need but I want

I have Radiant Light, Dim Light and Luminious Light and will probably be buying the rest in the near future. The effect of these $50 powders is so subtle that I really can't justify buying them. BUT I think it's a combination of the pretty packaging, pretty product and pretty shades that makes me go back for more.

Hourglass Airbrushing Pore Blurring Ambient Powder

This is one of the best powders you can buy! It's expensive but so worth it. It blurs pores, makes my skin look smooth and radiant, doesn't emphasize fine lines and feels so light on my skin. I don't have a full-sized powder but I have three of the powders in Dim Light, Diffused Light and Radiant light.

Dim Light - a neutral peach beige powder that blurs imperfections and highlights a radiant complexion with the perfect balance of warm and cool tones. Diffused Light - a soft, warm, pale yellow powder that conceals redness and gives skin clarity—like a soft ray of morning light. Radiant Light - a sun-kissed golden beige that enhances overall complexion with believable, subtle warmth, and also extends a summer glow.

I really like using either Dim or Diffused Light all over my face to sort of set my makeup and then I like to use Radiant Light lightly all over to give a bit of a bronzed glow but then I like to use it as a very subtle bronzer and I have done a touch of contouring with it as well. As far as as setting powder goes it doesn't give a matte finish it gives a subtle glow. I really don't see a huge difference between the effects I get from using Dim or Diffused Light to set my makeup but Radiant Light is like a bronzer for me. I can also use this to set under my eyes and it doesn't make my under eye concealer crease. I only have a few grams of each of these powders but they have lasted me a long time and they're my most reached for setting powder. The only drawback I can think off besides being expensive is if you want your makeup to look shine free all day this won't stop your face from getting shiny or needing a touch up. But still I would definitely repurchase these, especially Radiant Light.

Tips: I still use it even when I have oily skin because it still blurs pores and imperfections but if you are after a matte look this probably won't be the powder for you. This is designed as a finishing powder so it can be used to set make and it will work for a few hours but the way this is intended to be used is actually to be buffed over a matte setting powder. That way your makeup stays locked in place for much longer and your get the airbrushing effects from using this powder. Radiant Light can double as a very light bronzer.
