I bought this primer as I really like the Rimmel products I have tried so far it was very affordable. I found it to be a bit greasy and made my face quite shiny so I started putting it on a bit thinner. It didn't seem to blur or minimise pores and imperfections, but my skin did feel smoother though. My make up didn't seem to last much longer than it would usually without it.

This is a great primer for those who want a product to do a good job for little cash.
Packaging of this primer comes in a plastic tube of white with a red snap shut lid and red writing printed on it. The design of the lid allows it to stand on it's lid so that the product settles at that point, this means that the product is ready to go when you need it.
Formula wise, thick and gloopy is the best way to describe it, it has an almost clear colourless appearance that feels a little stiff but once a little has been applied to the back of your hand and warmed up it becomes silky to allow for a smooth application.
I personally only apply this primer to the oily areas of my face by tapping it lighting into where the pores seems to be the most enlarged and find that the primer helps to reduce their appearance by being packed into them and smoothing them out. Mattifying the oily areas and creating a even blurred effect over these areas.
My foundation and concealer also stayed in place all day and didn't transfer or slip from the oily areas of my face. I did find that if you don't warm the primer up prior to application that is created a balling effect, piling on the skin where when rubbed in it lifts back up and rolls over itself. In turn it caused the foundation to not settle as well as it should and even looked cakey which is only a small downer on it but that is application error not product error.
This primer is alright, nothing awful, nothing great.
I have dry skin and it feels nice and smooth when I put it on. I've used a few different foundations over top of it and they all go on nicely but that's about it.
It doesn't do anything to minimize pores or really make my skin LOOK smoother and I haven't noticed it making my makeup last any longer than it would without it.
It's nice and cheap but now that I've run out, I won't be repurchasing. It's a nice base, but doesn't do the things I want a primer to do!
This is an OK primer. You do get a lot of product for the price, it is a cream primer which is kinda thick. I can't say that it made my skin look any better, it did minimize my pores and make my foundation stay on longer.I used this with the lasting finish foundation. Its an OK primer, the price is a big draw card but I would still chose other primers over this.
I actually really liked this primer. It did make the foundation last longer and I tried it on it's own, it had a very light sheer colour and it made my face visibly glow. I wouldn't say it minimised pores but it did give my face that extra something.
This is only the third primer I have tried. It's a product that I still not confident spending a lot on because I'm not entirely sure I need it. I love the way it feels on my face, it is slightly tacky and does blur the pores on my cheeks that are noticeable. I haven't used it with it's matching foundation but I don't think it made my foundation last any longer.
Tips: I got this in aussie for $8? Stock up if you're going overseas.
I was given this primer from a friend because it wasn't quite her cup of tea. My skin is comparatively drier and I have issues with redness. But given she didn't like it I was a bit dubious. All for no reason it seems! The small white bottle is plastic with a red twist-off cap on the base - nothing to write home about, though it is nice not to have to shake it crazily to get product out. The formula is white with a slight blueish tint when in a blob but once spread thin it loses the white-ness and leaves a shine on your skin. The blueish tint does seem to help a little with my redness which is great. After about 10 minutes the shine dulls into a slight glow, so it doesn't look oily on skin. It smells of generic lotion to me which isn't nice but isn't bad. Overall I haven't found it extends the life of my make up or reduce pores, but it does seem to help my skin from drying or clogging from my make up and also helps redness - all up I'm happy.
Tips: Would recommend for people with dry/red skin.
This is the first primer I have ever used (other than Nivea men's shavebalm ha) so I have nothing to compare to.
It's like a moisturiser which is a bit glowy, goes on smoothly and makes my skin feel soft and moisturised, and slightly tacky which seems to hold on to foundation well. I would not say it lasts 8 hours but does a good job for the price point.
If I don't use it I notice it missing when applying my foundation, but it doesn't minimise pores.
With promises of blurring skin, minimising the appearance of pores, reducing oil and making makeup last longer, I have tried many primers over the past few years. I have never once been impressed. Yes, silicone based primers will smooth out skin, but they get in the way of makeup application, and I have never once used a primer that has made my makeup stay on longer. Primer is a step that I often skip, and a product that I don't often purchase, and they just don't work for me.
I picked up the Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer as I was purchasing the matching foundation and a few reviews had said that the foundation applies between with the primer. I have now used this primer with that, and other foundations.
The packaging is basic drugstore. It's Rimmel, it's not fancy, but it works. For $15, I'm certainly not expecting gold glitter. The formula inside is a white lotion, with no silicone feel. It looks like sunscreen, and even has a very, very slight stickiness to it. It applies easily over the face and sits just on top of the skin.
Looking at my skin at this point, I see no difference. Zero. After applying my makeup, it looks smooth and fresh, but only slightly more than it does without the primer. I see no visible difference in my pores. However, a few hours later, and again at the end of the day, I notice the difference. My makeup stays fresh and full coverage for the entire day. It is slightly less oily, and it hasn't rubbed away on any part of my face. I can certainly notice a difference in how well my makeup lasts when I do and don't use this primer.
I will repurchase this primer when it runs out, as I love how well my makeup lasts and the product is incredibly affordable. If you are to purchase this primer yourself, please don't expect it to do anything more than make your makeup last, but you may be pleasantly surprised.
Tips: Wait 30 second after application, before applying makeup. Pat into the skin rather than rubbing.
This is a highly affordable primer with well designed packaging. As it is made to stand on its lid the product is always ready to go when you need it.
The consistency is quite thick. It leaves the skin feeling super smooth and corrected. When it comes to applying foundation it feels like it 'catches' instead of going on smoothly.
My skin can get rather oily and I feel that this primer exaggerates that. If I wear no primer foundation stays ok for a couple of hours, other primers it lasts for the good part of the day, but with this primer it starts streaking and sliding off within an hour. I end up with patches melted off!
If you want an affordable primer I'd recommend Rimmel's Stay Matte over this.
