Not my cuppa tea

I thought I would try a different approach to applying foundation than the normal sponge and other foundation brushes. This one is more like a big paint brush style and thought why not?! I had never tried QVS products before this so was excited to see if my opinion and technique would change after using it a few times. I love the simple black handle, so sleek and chic. The bristles I find are a bit hard to the touch but together to apply can be quite flimsy. I apply the foundation to my face first in three different blobs.....each cheek and forehead. I use the QVS brush to spread it on my face in a normal way. I found that the brush held on to too much of the foundation and it was lost in amongst the fibres. I found myself using far more product than I was used to and needing to wash it at least three times a week.

It promises that it won't leave streaks and that it blends effortlessly. I am still waiting to see the effortless blending and streak free foundation. I found that I had to blend the foundation in with a sponge applicator afterwards to get an even coverage and streak free look. What a waste of time if I have to do it twice! I find that the brush fibres tend to fall out and are left on my clothes and all over my face which means I have to pick them all off. I also means I have to retouch my foundation after I stick my fingers in it trying to get the bristles off my face. When washing it I find that the dry time is almost double that of my thickest stipple brush which is very dense and big.

All in all I am highly disappointed in this. I thought it may be the answer to a streak free look and easy application. I wouldn't use it again it's just too much doubling the work load and makes makeup application seem a mundane task instead of a fun 'me time' thing. You can stay in the back of the draw from now on QVS foundation brush!

Tips: Wash three times a week to keep the product build up to a minimum

Perfection brush

The QVS Foundation Brush that I have is dual ended (I think it's called the Perfection brush), it has a wide, flat foundation brush on one end and a smaller, flat concealer brush on the other.

The soft nylon bristles can be used with both oil or water based make-up and I find that synthetic brushes definitely work better than brushes with natural bristles, when it comes to applying foundation as natural bristles can become clogged with liquid make-up, holding on to it and thereby wasting product.  Synthetic bristles don't hold onto product, so you use less and it makes application easier.

I have used my foundation brush with both oil based and water based foundation, cream foundation and liquid foundation and I've had no problems with it.  It spreads foundation easily and evenly, creating a perfect, flawless base.  The dual end eliminates the need for a separate concealer brush and it can also be used for touch-ups or to get into smaller areas, like around the nose, under the eyes  or to conceal small blemishes.

The nylon bristles do need to be washed regularly with warm, soapy water and rinsed before being allowed to air dry.  I have recently began washing mine in Micellar water and it comes clean a lot more easily than using soap.  The Micellar water really does help get rid of all the foundation or concealer really quickly, even if it's oil based.

The QVS Perfection Foundation brush is one of my favourite brushes.  It's a professional quality brush that is large enough to do a full face of foundation quickly and easily, while flat enough to have a slim tip that gets into all the tricky places, like around the nose and under the eyes.  Depending on how much foundation is used, it doesn't leave brush stripes and can be swirled in a circular motion, if needed.

I would definitely consider purchasing another one of these and would recommend this to anyone looking for a flat foundation brush.

Tips: Wash this brush with Micellar water.  It'll come clean much quicker than using soap and water.

Not the best

I won a prize pack filled with QVS tools . One of them was this foundation brush. I’ve tried a few and there’s only one brush that has done well for me .

The brush itself has a firm . Bridles feel like nylon. Upon application it seems to blend out well. But the bristles were coming out on to my face . So I washed my faced and washed the brush . It started to work fine after that .

I was a bit disappointed with how it worked. I ended up giving this brush to my daughter . Overall I can’t see myself repurchasing this or trying it again.

Great brush for a great price

I have been using this for my foundation for about a year now & I'm impressed with how well it has lasted to be honest! It is getting about to the end of it's life now but I think a year or so is quite good for a cheap brush! It washes well & it hasn't shed many bristles. It applies well but I definitely need to finish with a sponge as the streakyness can be quite obvious with liquid foundation. I found it not so bad with mousse though.
