Revlon ColorStay Gleaming Eyes Liquid Shadow

This liquid shadow is super cool, I have them in different colors and wish they would bring more colors out. It is easy to apply. You can use the sponge applicator it comes with or pop a bit on the back of your hand to warm it up and choose a small flat brush so you can have all the control you need to apply exactly where you want. Immediately follow with a tiny dusting on powder either translucent of a very similar color eyeshadow you have handy. This will stop is from creasing. I have had this last all day with out much of a touch up. They are lovely and shiny especially at night but awesome during the day as well. Give it a try.

The eyeshadow comes packaged in a generously large tube with a lid misleadingly shaped like a dropper. The product applicator is a wide sponge tip. I was impressed with the amount of product included as liquid eye shadows often include far less product. The sponge applicator nicely swipes on the product and provides a full lid of colour in one swipe. However, the applicator is rather large so it is a bit fiddly to apply it neatly in the crease area. The colour is absolutely stunning; the shimmer is very intense and this would be ideal for a night out or a special occasion. Unfortunately, this takes a while to dry, so naturally whilst it dries I end up blinking and the product smears well above where I put it and everywhere but my eyelid. I found that this just doesn't set on its own and creases immediately. This was disappointing as I have many cheaper liquid/cream eyeshadows that don't need to be set to last all day and that don't crease at all. This just seems to be too wet of a formula. However, to make this work, I have been setting this with a similar shaded powder eyeshadow lightly dusted on top. This seems to prevent the creasing and makes it last well. If set, the shadow stays vibrant and intense all day and wears a very long time. However, if it isn't set, it just smears everywhere very quickly. I don't think I should have to apply another eyeshadow to set a liquid eyeshadow as that defeats the convenience of a liquid eyeshadow. This is also pricy for a single shadow so I expected better. In spite of this, this colour is incredibly stunning and I will continue to make it work by combining it with powder shadow. Overall, I have mixed opinions on this, it looked great, but required a lot of work to make the product work properly. I don't mind too much as I picked it up free in the Beauty Vault but I wouldn't pay the RRP for this.
