I recently tried the Rimmel Lasting Finish 35HR Foundation, in the shade 160 Vanilla, and was really interested to see if this full coverage, lightweight cruelty-free and vegan foundation would withstand the busy working day.
I selected the shade 160 Vanilla online, from looking at swatches on both a models arm and face. The range has an abundance of shades to choose from – including those for a neutral, cool, or warm undertone. When the bottle arrived, the shade appeared a lot darker than I had expected given the example on the model online (especially with my skin coming out of a gloomy Dunedin NZ winter). Although the 160 Vanilla fits within the neutral category, I found it still gave my skin a subtle warmth to it, and with a lighter coverage didn’t look too dark on my complexion.
I didn’t test out the Sleep-proof or waterproof claims, so couldn’t say if this is truly a ‘35HR foundation’, however Lasting Finish has some serious lasting power getting me through the day while still feeling comfortable. The hydration boost combined with vitamin E and hyaluronic acid gave my skin a real boost while the coverage was buildable, allowing me to achieve the level of coverage that I desired while still feeling lightweight. This foundation is comfortable to wear and didn’t dry out my skin which was great. Being an SPF20 is a bonus, as I love skin products with SPF within them – although I still put my sunscreen on daily no matter what!
This is a budget friendly foundation, sitting around $20.00 NZD for a 30ml glass bottle, depending on which retailer you purchase from. It’s a bargain!
Used findation.com to get my shade. Definitely a bit too warm, however able to work with it as I tan in the summer. Pump top for easy dispersal. Slight hint of scent. Build able full coverage. Wears well through the day, received compliments which is always lovely.
Not a foundation pro by far. Applied with a flat top brush and buffed into the skin. Final look was great. Lasted through my work day which is what I really wanted to trial this for. Breathable foundation and probably most importantly not heavy. Lightweight to do the job.
I enjoy using this foundation as it is easy to use. Have looked at the rest of the shade range instore and found a better suiting colour that I am looking to purchase.
Bonus points: affordability, ease of access to purchase.
Tips: Recommend going instore to select foundation colour as it can be guesswork purchasing online.
