I love Rimmel products as they are affordable and quite good quality. I found this mascara clumped quite a bit when I first starting using it. I didn’t like the brush as when I tried to correct the clumping I ended up making it worse. However after using this mascara for a week or so I learnt to use the brush better and had great results- no clumps and long dark lashes. Everything that I want. It’s not the usual type of brush I use so it did take some practice to perfect to get the look I wanted. I think this a great mascara formula and if the brush works for you then you’ll have amazing results

I don't think I've ever not liked a Rimmel product, and this mascara is no exception. They're great performers at a really good price point.
The packaging is pretty - a bright coral red, and nice and chubby like many of the 'volume' based mascara's these days. The brush on the wand itself is abundant in bristles and tapered at the end for corner lashes (which works well).
I received the 'Black' colour - and understand there's a waterproof version of this too. The mascara applies nicely - lashes separated, and no clumps of product. Volume is good - I think the fact that the spoolly does such a good job separating you get that immediate look of more lashes. Length and curl of lashes is good too. It dries relatively fast, and you can keep applying more mascara for volume, but you can feel the brush getting a little stuck if you're reapplying well after drying time - and you lose the lash separation. One coat is a really nice natural look for me, so while I did try building on it - it looks more natural with less 'building'. Wear through the day is good. I'm an eye-rubber, so there was some smudging - but this wasn't the waterproof formula, so I'd expect that. It wasn't really bad smudging like I experience with others, and it was very easy to tidy up. My mascara lasted all day, and the volume was maintained too. It does fade a little (again - I rub my eyes a lot) but for the most part it looked as it did at the start of the day
End of the day, I needed eye makeup remover to fully remove mascara, as simple cleansing wasn't enough (panda eyes 1st thing in the morning, if just cleansing).
Much like many of the Rimmel mascara's its a good performer. I'd be keen to try the waterproof formula when this one is up for replacement.
Thanks lovely BR ladies for providing the opportunity to trial/review this product
Rimmel ScandalEyes Volume on Demand came as a welcome treat to cheer me up during this current lock down. And it definitely lived up to it's expectations for me. The brush provided easy application. One layer was good enough for a day look and a couple more in the evening worked wonders at adding volume to my lashes without clumping or making my lashes stiff. And the best part was even with wearing it all day it didn't smudge or irritate my eyes. I'd definitely recommend this and consider buying it again.
I was lucky enough to receive this for trial. I was so excited as Rimmell make my faverite masacaras. It was even better that I received this at the start of the Covid 19 lockdown so had something new to play with (and an excuse to still wear makeup) The consistency is creamy and opaque but the applicator wasnt anything special. It has a tapered end but rather large base.I ususally choose mascaras based on the applicator as I have very small eyes so a large wand ends up painting my eyelids. The first coat does an amazing job at seperating the lashes, and applying more layers to build the volume still has them seperated and non clumpy which i loved. I have hooded eyes and some mascara does transfer onto my eyelids during the day. This only happened once and that was a day I wore tinted moisturizer instaead of my usual matte foundation with powder eyeshadow, so that wold of been the reason. Overall I found this a very nice mascara to use as I could have subtle results for a day look or a more stronger look by building the layers. The eyelash seperation was the biggest win for me.
Tips: If you apply layers while still wet, the lases remain seperated and can take multiple coats to get the desired effect. I found if I let the masacara nearly dry between coats I recieved the most dramatic look.
I absolutely love this mascara! The brush is so fluffy which helps to give such a natural look to your eyelashes, the mascara is buildable for a more bolder look. The fluffy brush helped to make my eyelashes clump free and made them look longer which I loved about this mascara. It made me look almost like I had eyelash extensions in. I've always disliked mascaras that go on clumpy. I will definitely continue to use this mascara as it can be used for an every day natural look so thumbs up to rimmel scandal eyes mascara.
I received this mascara as part of a trial - in black. This mascara isn't much to look at but it does a great job at giving volume to my lashes and not clumping despite me applying 3 layers. The brush was easy to use and gripped well to my lashes and my lashes felt soft and comfortable. By the middle of the day some of the mascara had transferred to beneath my eyes but that usually happens with all non-waterproof mascara for me.
From the get-go, the tube itself is eye-catching and bold with its sleek, curved lid and firetruck-red look. The smell is your typical, run-of-the-mill, slightly chlorine-y scent and the formula itself isn't super thick nor runny. I'm a sucker for big wands, and I really liked the chunky, hourglass-shaped head on this mascara.
As background information, I was blessed with relatively long lashes, but unfortunately they're pretty straight and usually fan downwards, so I always like to use a lash curler beforehand.
As soon as I applied the mascara I saw that it evenly separated my lashes (huge win!) and gave me instant length (double win!!), however I am slightly disappointed with the claim about "volume on demand" as I didn't see much difference between my second and third layer application.
What I really love about the mascara is its remaining power. Some mascaras sadly can't hold your lashes up and need extra help from a lash curler, but I tested one eye using my curler and the other without, and my lashes both stayed lifted! Of course, the side I used my curler with had a teensy bit more lift, but to the naked eye there really wasn't much of a difference, which I'm extremely happy about - one less thing to bring on the go!
In terms of cleaning it off, cleansing wipes, micellar water and/or a good oil cleanse can get rid of it easy. It didn't survive a smudge or crying test (found out I can actually cry on command! Who knew?!), but I don't think it claimed to be smudgeproof or waterproof anyway. Nevertheless I personally think the ease of removal is a blessing rather than a curse because you know it won't leave you with panda eyes in the morning.
In conclusion, does it give you volume on demand? Well... if you're thinking of in-your-face, full-glam, poppin' lashes, then sadly no. But for a little extra "oomph", it's a solid mascara that gives you volume suitable enough for every day wear. Would I repurchase? Actually, yes! It really boils down to its lifting and staying power, clump-freeness, and lengthening properties. Though I think I might get the waterproof version. Also, Rimmel should definitely rename it to "Length on demand" instead (but I guess that's not as catchy).
Tips: Use a curler beforehand for an extra lift!
I have been loyal to one mascara for a long time but this product is surely going to replace that. It gives your lashes so much length while remaining light, clump free and natural looking. It does a good job separating the lashes on a light coat, but with more product applied it will start to group eyelashes to give the effect of false lashes. The wand has a slight hour glass curve which I loved as it made the finish very natural looking. The tip of the wand gathers a lot of product, but once that's removed the tip is really useful for getting into the corners of your eyes and bottom lashes. This product is also fairly long wearing, but because it is such a light formula, you can re-apply without the look getting clumpy. The color (001 black) was also really appealing, and made my already black eyelashes look natural and not super dark to the point of looking fake. Overall, this is a really great product that I will continue to use.
Tips: This product takes a few minutes to dry so be careful not to touch your lashes after application.
This mascara looks a lot like the other Rimmel mascaras I have used in the past, bright coloured outside and bold writing. The thing that I found different about this one was the wand is shaped differently, its very narrow on the tip and goes a lot thicker on the other end which gave it a great effect when using the mascara. I found it easy to apply on my lashes with just one sweep it reached most of my lashes all at once. My lashes looked so nice and long after using it and I even tried reapplying more once they had dried and it did exactly what it said it would, clump free and more volume! Very happy with this mascara.
I was lucky enough to be selected to trial this mascara. The mascara comes in the standard Rimmel packaging. The brush it’s self has a kink on either side, I didn’t like this design as it impacted on the application of the mascara. It ended up on on my eye lids instead of my lashes. It made my lashes appear think and long however I would not purchase as I didn’t like the brush. It didn’t leave any clumps so it’s not a bad mascara overall.
