Fly with Me

Sally Hansen Effect Nail Polish Strips in "Fly with Me" have a pretty, summery butterfly design and come in a box of 16 strips. I'm guessing that the extra strips are to allow for mistakes, different nail sizes or to use as accents.

Inside the box was a page of instructions, a small orangewood stick, a small pink file/buffer with two different grits and the nail strips. Following the instructions, I buffed my nails to create a fairly smooth surface and filed them to the shape that I wanted, before washing my hands to remove any nail dust and hand lotion before cleaning my nails again with nail polish remover.

I selected the strips that best suited the shape and size of my nails and lay them out. Working one at a time, I pulled the silver tab and peeled the strip away from the backing, lined it up with my cuticle and smoothed it onto my nail, pressing firmly before peeling off the clear protective top layer. I used orangewood stick to go over each nail, getting rid of any air bubbles but be careful while doing this because I did gouge a hole in one of the strips. File off any excess at the free edge (tip of your nail) with the nail file, using downward strokes to wrap the strip around the tip at the same time.

I managed to get two nails out of each strip by cutting them in half and I'll admit that I did top mine off with a clear top coat, just to make them a little more durable, as I felt the polish strip was quite 'soft' and I didn't want to damage it. I got a weeks wear out of them on my hands and nearly a month on my toes.

I did put the excess strips back in the box and saved them for a future manicure, even though it said on the box to discard any unused strips (which I felt was a waste). The next time I did a manicure, I found out why. The unused strips were exposed to air, which made them dry out and go brittle, causing them to shatter when I tried to remove them from the backing strip.

There was a solution to this problem. I simply heated the strips up for a few seconds under my hairdryer. This softened the polish strip and the glue and allowed me to apply them to my nails. Don't try heating the strip up against a warm coffee mug (like I did with the first one). I ended up with a butterfly design stuck on the outside of my favourite coffee mug and it stuck like crazy and went hard like concrete as soon as it was stuck! It won't budge, not even after being in the dishwasher!

Would I recommend them? Yes and no. They're easy to apply and fun to wear, especially for someone who doesn't like painting their own nails but if you don't get the application right, they can be frustrating and might not wear well. Would I buy them again? Probably not, unless it was for a special occasion where I only wanted or needed that design for one night.

Tips: Cleanse your nails with nail polish remover before applying the strips. If you keep the unused leftovers, gently heat them up before using them.

Apply so easy!!

These are the best polish stickers I have ever tried, and I think thats mainly because they aren't actually like a sticker and they kinda turn into a polish that you need to use polish remover for it. It applies so smoothly without leaving any wierd bumps along the nails and they buff right off if there is extra. I also find that the sizing is great and there are a variety that would suit pretty much everyone. This product has been great when I have these moments where I need to make my nails look presentable but don't have time for nail polish - they literally only take 5 minutes

Sadly Dissapointed

I have been experimenting with nail wraps/stickers at the moment. I don't have much spare time but I love having my nails done so I thought I would give these a whirl. I've had heaps of success with some other brands so I thought i'd try my beloved Sally Hansen (I am obsessed with their gel colours!).

I picked two colours "Pink A Dot" and "Beat you to it". I was so excited to try these. I cleaned my nails with a swipe of acetone over to make sure their was no trace of anything on my nails. The pack comes with two packs of sealed nail wraps, a cuticle stick and a mini nail file/buffer. I buffed my nails and pushed back my cutices and got ready to apply.

Application was fairly easy, open one of the packs of the sealed packages - I found the smell of these quite overpowering it smelt like nail polish strong nail polish (I havent encountered that with nail strips before) find a nail strip that best fits your nail pull the clear plastic off the top and remove the backing line up on the nail press into cuticle and stretch out the sides with the cuticle stick flat side if needed. Use the flat side of the cuticle stick to flatten out any air bubbles and stick it down. I went over and pushed on it a bit more to make sure it was stuck down. Pull the silver tab off the end and file away the ends of the strips in downward motions.

I thought these were super quick to apply and looked amazing on my fingers Pink A Dot was my favourite. Unfortunately by the next morning both my index fingers had come off and I have no idea where that happened.

That drove me insane so I thought I would use the extra's that were in the pack (they come in packs of 16) unfortunately once the silver pack is unsealed the strips dry out so I could not use them so being me I had to take all the nails off which came off far too easily.

These for me werent a winner at all they look great but had zero staying power on me.

a bit bummed

Love these, super easy to apply, long lasting. I have one complaint: once the pack is opened, the strips dry out and can't be used later on. I like using the patterns on only a few nails and doing a solid coordinating color on the other nails. I'm bummed out that the leftover strips can't be saved.

Cute design, easy application

I purchased these in the style 'Misbehaved' for a ball. The strips are a gold shimmer with a black diamond outline print. The strips came in an attractive box containing a cuticle stick, file, clear instructions and 16 stickers. I found the instructions incredibly easy to follow. I liked that the product actually came with the tools required to use it, unlike other nail strips I have tried. It was very easy to apply the strips and there was no bubbling with the strips or excessive overhang, like I've found with other brands. The excess of the strips filed off quite easily. I got many compliments on how great my nails looking when I wore these. However they do not last up to ten days and started chipping for me within a few hours, which is worse than real nail polish. They also cost a lot of money for what they are. I would repurchase these, only if they were on sale for a special occasion as they are bit pricy for regular purchase.

Sally Hansen nail polish strips

I love these nail polish strips and I buy them all the time. I am wearing some at the moment-pink sparkles with black skulls on them! They are so easy to put on and if you put it on crooked, it is easy to pull them off and trposition them (as long as you havent pushed them all the way on. Once they are on they always seem to stay on really well and don't chip like normal nailpolish does. There's also no messy edges to clean up like you can get with normal nailpolish. Whenever I do my nails, my right hand can get a bit messy as I have to do them with my left hand. With these nail strips I don't have that problem which saves time. I can get 2 weeks out of mine pretty easily and I have a job where I wash my hands a lot and am outside often playing with children in the sandpit etc. The strips remove easily with nail polish and don't damage my nails like acrylics and shellac have before. These nail strips also come with the necessary tools- a file, buffer, and a stick for pushing back your cuticles. Couldn't ask for more! Give these a go, you won't regret it!

Tips: You can easily get 2 nails done with one strip to make the strips go further. Do one nail, file off the excess, then turn it around and put it on another nail and file off the excess.

New week, new nails

I have used these for the best part of a year and a half. I am such a big fan! There are so many designs that I have not had the same nails for 18 months. There is the standard one pattern or as I have recently discovered, french tips which just look so glamorous and come in an array of colours. I have also managed to use a standard pack to cover both fingers and toes full set so none of the product is wasted and I get an amazing mani/pedi at a fraction of the cost! Admittedly it did take me the best part of 4 different applications to master the technique of applying these but it it totally worth the end result.

Tips: It take a couple of applications to completely master the use of these but eventually you will get so good that you don't need to throw out any of the remaining unused stickers and can get a pedi as well as a mani

Very Trendy

I am a fan of nail art. I like experimenting with polishes, glitter, stones and nail polish strips just to look different. I think you need to have an appropriate length to apply these, I normally cut them in half so I don't waste product. They do last about 3 days without chipping for me.Just make sure that you don't get any air bubbles when applying them. I love the variety of designs the range has, they really look fancy and very trendy.

Waste of time!

I brought these cheap online and thought they were soo pretty! It took me a very long time to get the strips looking right on my fingers and wasted quite a few strips trying to get them looking right! I also used my LED light and top coat. Most of these pealed of overnight and I ended up just getting rid of the ones that did stick! I cant see how these could have ever lasted for long

Tips: Dont waste your $$. Buy a new gel colour instead

Finally something that lasts and doesnt Chip!

I had given up hopes in finding a home nail polish that wouldnt chip within hours of applying. I have tried many different brands, even making sure I apply a top coat. Nothing made any polish last longer than a day without chipping and looking tacky. I had come to conclusion I had to get my nails professionally done. I was pleasantly suprised how easily it was to apply Sally Hansen Salon Effect Nail Polish Strips. Even more pleasantly surprised how long it has lasted on my nails. I applied these Polish Strips and still 3 weeks later they are still going strong. So pleased to have stumbled accross these. I have faith in at home Nail Polishes afterall!
