Firstly, the packaging is super cute and practical too. The pottle is easy to open and the screw on lid is very secure. Personally, I think it may be a little bit big to be just chucked in the handbag - but would most definitely be appropriate if a little bit smaller. Having opened it I absolutely love the yummy vanilla coconut smell. So delicious! The wax was pretty solid at first but once the surface was broken it was all good. Once on the fingertips, it was nice and spreadable.
I generally have pretty dry hands so I began with putting this on my hands in the morning once I got up. I was so surprised and happy to find how long my hands stayed moisturised throughout the day. The nice smell remained too, which was lovely. Because it is so waxy, when doing this in the morning, I had to really try to not spread on the palms of my hands because the waxy-ness was pretty hard to get rid of and wasn’t very pleasant.
I could definitely notice a huge change in how supple my hands were, even with just one or two applications. The balm soaked into my skin so well and remained for so long.
Next, I enlisted the help of my boyfriend to help test it out for massages. In giving a back/shoulder massage it was an amazing product. It was so spreadable and absorbed right into the skin. It made it so easy to massage the skin, with no pulling or friction. Throughout the duration I didn’t even really need to apply more of the balm because it was so moisturising and the skin just sucked it up. In receiving a massage, it was just as good. It made the massage smooth and relaxing, and the delicious smell really added to the relaxation element of it. Following the massage, my skin definitely felt full of moisture and really smooth - but, as you would expect, was very waxy. My boyfriend gave a very similar positive review to his massage experience with the balm. Overall, I would definitely rate this as one of the best products for massages that I have used.
A great thing about this product is that a little bit goes a long way - so this reasonably big tub will last a long time, so is definitely worth the money.
So on the whole, I love this product for both massaging and for saturating my dry hands and feet, and I feel very lucky to have been selected to trial it! I would recommend it to anyone!
I have tried many muscle rubs and massages lotions over my years but this one definitely takes the red ribbon. Not only does it leave my skin feeling amazing but it absorbs quickly and relaxes my aching muscles. I suffer from a few congenital joint disorders that leave me in a lot of pain at the end of the day. I also have plantar fibrosis which means my feet are not so happy by bed time. I used the scullys massage balm on my feet and other affected areas the balm lasted long enough to provide me with a good amount of massage time but did not leave me with a heavy oily feeling on my skin. A work mate of mine hurt her ankle on the day this product arrived by courier, I offered some to her to use. She has sensitive skin and normally hates the smell of these types of products. She has since asked me for the name of the product and is getting her own tin she absolutely loved it. The only downside I found was that it takes a couple of goes to get the lid back on but this is not a major and could just be my gumby fingers.
Tips: Rub into feet and hands after a shower for soft skin and great relaxation.
