OPI Nail Polish - Review

These are great nail polishes. I got given one of mine as a gift and I love it! However I just don't like the price.

The bottles are big and the colour range is great however I just can't justify the price. Over $20 for a nail polish is quite ridiculous for me, especially if I won't wear it often or at all.

These have a nice brush and they apply opaque in two coats. Mine dried pretty fast too, which is always really useful to me. It lasted all week with a few small chips, which was impressive.

I got given a gold-bronze colour for my birthday and despite it being such a gorgeous colour and great formula I just can't bring myself to repurchase for the price.

Great quality, great range of colour and texture

Although OPI is one of the pricier polishes here in NZ, its worth spending that bit extra. They have a great range of colours, constantly being updated, and lots of fun textures like sand, glitter, etc. I find OPI seems to apply smoothly, and lasts longer than most other brands I use, and two coats will do the trick nicely.

gives you salon quality nails

Opi is one of my favourite nail brands, if not my favourite. I have at least 10-15 opi nail polishes in my collection and I've only had an issue with one. I really like the formula, which is a good consistency, not too thick so that its gloopy and tacky, and not too thin. The formula is really smooth and easy to apply. There is no streaking or bubbling.

The colours are opaque and vivid. I always apply two coats of colour with a base coat underneath and I find this is enough to get a solid colour on your nails. The polish has a glossy finish to it but I always like to put a top coat in top as well. I find that this polish, with top and base coat, will set at least a week before chipping.

The brush is a bit bigger than your standard nail polish brush. The brush has a flat shape which I like as it means you can paint you whole nail in three nice strokes. I hate the tiny nail polish brushes that you have to apply with a million strokes which causes the polish to become streaky.

Overall I really like these polishes as they are long lasting, there is a huge colour range, and they are really easy to apply. I definitely recommend these polishes and will purchase more colours.

I love this bold vampy colour!

This is one of my winter favourites. I love how it's a deep shade that's red with a tinge of sparkly fuschia to make it seem like a really gorgeous jewel tone. The burgundy colour that results is a great pairing with a dark purple or oxblood lippy.

Two thin coats were enough for an opaque finish, which is awesome for an impatient person like me. i also found this really long lasting! It didn't chip until about a week in, and I'm really rough with my hands day-to-day so that's really good.

I would definitely recommend this as a gorgeous winter shade.

Tips: The key with this is definitely applying very thin coats. I once slopped on too much and couldn't get it to smooth and not have bubbles no matter how much I tried.

OPI nail lacquer

Fantastic product if you can afford to fork out over $20 for a bottle of polish! If you are lucky you may be able to get selective shades during big bucket sale or at outlet makeup stores online. I do love the richness of the colour n th shine and the longevity of wear but I'd rather not pay full retail price - only buy these when they are on sale to be honest.

Great nail polish

OPI is the only nail polish I buy now, after my sister in law got me addicted to them, she had a collection of about 30 nail polishes and I was really impressed with them! OPI have a great range of colours and are always coming out with more amazing nail polishes all the time. I really like how quickly they dry on your nails and they cover well with just one coat but it always is best to do two coats to make it last longer. They never leave my nails discoloured after removing the polish like I have found with others. They glide on smooth and don't clump up. I found them to be quite expensive so it's great when you can get them on sale.

Not for me

I have a few of these as I've either been given them or purchased them at a discounted price because I keep forgetting my opinion on them. My opinion is that I don't like them, so let me tell you why.

They're not cruelty free. Not that this is a big thing in my decision making at all, but I know for a lot of people that this IS a big thing. Another reason I don't like them is the staying power - with or without a base and top coat - I find they only last a few days, 3 at most before I start to see chips.

I have a few shades, but the names escape me. I have a lovely red that reminds me of Dorothy's slippers, a blue that dries kind of like a sand (I especially hate this one), a very baby pink and a shimmery sheer white (I like this one but it's super hard to remove).

They apply nicely and I find the formula mostly opaque but the fact that they don't last more than 3 days on my nails is a bit of a shame and well, I prefer other brands.

OPI

An amazingly good quality product. These nail polishes are more expensive than others that I have puchased but they are such good quality. I buy them when on sale and that makes them really worth the price. Compared to other products, I found OPI to be superior in all aspects. The product glides on smoothly, dries in no time and lasts longer than other brands I use. I find that I only need one coat and with a top coat it lasts ages and the product doesn't chip either.

OPI - the Brand Taking Over My Polish Collection

OPI - the Brand Taking Over My Polish Collection

I used to go for el cheapo polishes because I didn't want to spend big bucks on a color since it's really difficult to pan off a polish so I would only splurge on nail treatments, base and top coats. Then I started buying some second hand beauty products and discovered what a quality polish is like. It's like your manicure lasting longer, the polish is easier to work with, it's less streaky and needs fewer coats. I used to not thing twice about higher end brands but now when I see second hand Opi polish I don't scroll past it, I look up swatches online. I currently have five colors in my collection and more on the way:

- Tickle My France-y - A cream finish nude mauve. I was thrilled when I saw swatches of this online this was very close to the sort of nude I was looking for.

- Chic From Ears to Tail - A cream finish cool toned light candy pink. This one was a tad streaky but it was easy to even out.

- I Lilly Love You - A clear pink with loads of mostly pink and gold iridescent glitter. I think compared to some other glitter polishes this one is packed with glitter. I use this one over a dark polish and it looks amazing. I'm not a big fan of glitter but if I'm doing a dark color manicure. I'll paint this over the nail I want to be a feature nail.

- Louvre Me Louvre Me Not - A stunning warm red toned purple with a shimmery finish. I love this shade I'm not big on shimmer at the moment but I was sucked in by this color. It's warm toned which suits my skintone but I think it would be gorgeous on any skin color.

Russian Navy - A really dark blackish navy blue with a bit of purple shimmer. This is a really good back ground color for galaxy nails. I bought this because I wanted a really dark color and I had worn black before didn't think it suited me so I use this as an alternative. Looks great on short nails or my toenails.

I have found that some color apply a tad more streaky than others but two coats is enough for good opacity. And even the second hand polish shades that have gotten a bit of use still have a good consistency in comparison to that ones I have that haven't been used at all. The cons of OPI is the price. I want more but adding brand new colors to my collection is expensive. This polish does have good wear time. I cook and wash dishes but I get about 3-4 days before I get chipping. The only reason why I haven't given this more smooches is because I have discovered another brand which lasts much longer on my nails than OPI - Zoya. And while OPI is 3-free, Zoya is 5-free. Despite that I think my OPI collection of polishes will only increase.

Tips: Put a bit of vaseline around the rim of your polish bottle where you screw the top on as that will help keep polish from drying around the top and making the lid stick. I also found these a bit cheaper at Posties than at other retail outlets but the downside is the color selection is more limited at posties.

OPI nail fan

I have been using OPI nails polishes for as long as I can remember. The brand has one of the best varieties of shades and finishes making them appeal to must nail polish lovers.

One of my favourite colours at the moment is the shade Elephantastic pink. This is a beautiful carnation pink shade with a creamy finish to it. It’s a very girly pink and I think it’s fantastic for summer months. I normally need two-three costs as it’s consistency is on the medium- thin side, and it is quite sheer.

Regardless of the shade my experience with OPI is they all go on smoothy and dry relatively quickly. I typically get between 5-7 days with their nail polishes. I tend to use a top cost otherwise it is usually only 3 days before I get chips. However I have short nail beds and the condition of my nails is not fantastic, so I am prone to peeling and chipping of polish regardless. so in my opinion these do last well

They are expensive compared to some other nail polishes on the market but I buy them when they are on special so not really an issue.
