I was lucky enough to be chosen to trial this product. I am 38, with dry skin, and fine lines on my forehead. I have been using this for approximately 3 weeks: once a day at night-time. This "pre-essence" reminds me a lot of The Ordinary's Skin Buffet serum. It is similar in texture, weight, colour and application. I think it would suit people who are used to layering skincare products.
The packaging and design of the product is eye-catching and clever. It comes in a red and silver box with a picture of the product on the front. The bottle is 40ml, which is a decent amount. After 3 weeks I have used a third of the bottle at 2 drops a day. The bottle itself is red with a shiny silver lid. It has an innovative pump design to gather the serum into the stopper. The instructions say to unscrew the cap to draw the product into the dropper, and then if you press the big silver button on the lid it releases the product. It is pretty easy to use and makes using the dropper applicator simple. You can cover your face with 1 - 2 drops.
I did not really notice a huge difference, after three weeks of use, to my skin. I only used it in the evening as I did not want to use heavy skincare in the daytime. So it is hard to tell if my skin is better for using this, but it is definitely not worse. I think if you are looking for a serum along the lines of international brands that you can buy locally, then this is worth a look.
When I was invited to trial the Olay Regenerist Regime I was less nervous than I would have been about trialing any other skin care - because I love the Olay brand. I usually moisturise twice a day using the Olay Sensitive Lotion and it's kept my skin in good condition.
I'm 53 with the usual ageing suspects, fine lines, a few wrinkles. I have a rosey complexion. I was immediately curious about the Essence - with its sleek dropper bottle it looks very fancy. I was expecting a serum but this wasn't an oily serum, it was kind of gel-like. It absorbed beautifully from the moment I applied it. Within minutes my skin was so smooth, I didn't feel the need to moisturise. (I did of course...but that's another review!)
A few weeks in of twice a day use, my fine lines have reduced, quite dramatically, in fact. I think my skin tone is more even.
It's hard to separate the two products for the review, but I think there's a synergy between them both, so I'd definitely use them both together. (This serum apparently makes the day cream more impactful, I believe that!)
I think I'll easily get 8 weeks out of the routine, maybe more, which makes the price really competitive compared to other anti-ageing products on the market. In short, I think this is a really great routine and highly recommend it. The results after just a few weeks have blown me away!
Tips: Allow the essence to fully sink in to your skin before applying the day cream.
