I purchased this as part of the Essano Rosehip Kit after hearing so many ladies rave about the range on here and reading about the benefits of rosehip oil.
I have oily, acne-prone skin so normally I tend to go for cleansers which specifically target these concerns, but I have previously used a more gentle cleanser and it worked really well with my skin so I wanted to give this a go.
I really liked the pump bottle it came in, it's my preferred style of packaging when it comes to cleansers as I find it allows you to disperse just the right amount of product without wastage.
Like the other products in the Essano Rosehip range, this has a lovely light rose fragrance, which is feminine but not overpowering, especially as I dislike a strong fragrance in skincare. The formula is a clear, gel-like liquid which is quite thin in consistency, similar to a lotion. I used a few pumps of this applied directly to my wet face, using either my hands or my exfoliating brush to cleanse my face.
I found that despite being a 'foaming' cleanser this didn't really seem to foam much for me at all, even with a few pumps. I also didn't feel like it really provided a thorough cleanse so preferred to use it at the end of the day after using a makeup remover and with the exfoliating brush to really give a proper cleanse.
This is a very gentle product and I liked that after using it my skin did feel clean and soft. I probably wouldn't purchase it myself again though as I felt it didn't really provide the clean my troubled skin really needs by itself and I would prefer something with a bit more punch to meet my skincare needs.
I have been using the essano body lotion and don't mind it's rose scent but this just smells wrong. It's got a hint of the fresh floral smell of the body lotion but it also has a more artificial smell, almost like a fruity nail polish remover or those nasty cheap scented nail polishes from back in the day. The packaging is nice enough, and will survive being dropped in the shower. The pump gives a good amount of product too. I suppose it does everything it says it will. It is gentle and foams up nicely but it won't cut through make up so I wash my face with almond oil to remove my make up first. All in all I using it up because I have it but I won't be repurchasing. I don't like to use something with such a bad and heavy smell on my face.
Tips: Not a key part of the essano range. For someone trying out their products I would possibly skip this and stick with the body lotion and rosehip oil.
