La Roche Posay Hyalu B5 Eye Serum

I was excited to be chosen to review this product. I enjoy La Roche Posay products – in particular their sunscreen is fantastic. Also to be honest my eye area could do with a bit of help at the moment! The packaging is kind of a bit weird for this product. It has a pipette top on a small glass bottle. What is strange when you open the lid there is a metal roller ball on the inside – quite normal for an eye product you say. But what I found strange was that you can push the top of the lid to draw up more product into it. But to be honest there is enough product on the tip when you open it anyway. The cooling is nice – but the product is so drippy I didn’t want to keep using the roller ball for the cooling effect. The product itself is quite drippy. It feels a lot like a hyaluronic acid serum that I usually use across my whole face. I did find it very nice to use – but my skin is looking pretty nice. It does say to use morning and night – but I would not recommend as it does feel quite tacky. My concealer and foundation clung to it during the day in the shape of a drip under my eye. Not my most flattering look. Overall this is another lovely product from La Roche Posay – but I will stick to using it at night time.

I was lucky to receive this as part of a trial team. Like other La Roche Posay products I have tried the eye serums packaging was simple but sleek, I do like their style. The applicator was a droplet wand with a rollerball on the end, the idea being you squeeze a small amount of product into the wand, wipe off the excess and apply the serum to your skin.

Firstly, the positives. I do like a rollerball applicator and found it cooling against my skin, which helped with puffiness around my eyes in the morning. The serum itself didn’t appear to have much of a fragrance and was a lightweight liquid which felt very hydrating against the skin. I do agree the serum made my skin feel nourished and more radiant.

The downside? I really disliked the applicator. I felt like it took up too much product and even with wiping off the excess I still got drops of it coming off the wand and I felt it ended up using more serum than needed. I’m also not a fan of using the rollerball on my skin and then dipping it back into the remaining serum, it feels less hygienic to me.

I wouldn’t purchase this myself but if the applicator didn’t sound like an issue for you then the serum itself is nice enough and it is an affordable option for an eye product.

Have been using this eye serum morning and night past couple weeks.

It has a little silver roller ball attached to the end of the stick instead a dropper.

One thing I will say is don't squeeze ( if you feel like nothing is coming out ) when you're in the middle of rolling under your eyes, it will drip out and down your face haha.

The little ball is nice and cooling under the eyes and a perfect wee massage for them. Then I just done a finger swipe under each eye, let dry then applied a moisturizer.

After these couple of weeks I haven't noticed any major change under or around eye area .

Very subtle brightening and hydration under eye though.

My main concern was my dark circles. Since they're not extremely dark I was hoping to see some change. I've been using this product for approximately 3 weeks (day and night) and unfortunately there has been little to no improvement.

The packaging definitely stands out on my vanity - a petit blue tinted glass bottle perfect for travel. It comes with a steel rollerball dropper, which for those who use facial tools may find fantastic, but for me it veered more towards the gimmicky side and not very practical.

To apply, you need to make sure you have just enough in your dropper so you don't dispense excess product unnecessarily (very easy to do). I only filled the dropper just above the rollerball and even that can still be too much because the consistency is watery and therefore spreads easily. 

Using the rollerball, I massaged the product around the contours of my eyes. My biggest issue is that the product is not easily absorbed into the skin using just the rollerball, I need to use my fingers too. There's a slight stickiness left behind which is fine as I don't wear makeup under my eyes.

At first glance the price point is steep however you really don't need a lot - the problem is the application method is prone to product wastage. At this stage, I'm quite underwhelmed and I won't be recommending this unless I see some improvement in my dark circles.

I have tried a few La Roche Pisay products now and have not been let down yet. Packaging is nice and sturdy- I liked that the bottle is see through, the dropper is a good size, functions well and distributes an even amount of product (would suggest tapping the side off before you apply to avoid drips). The roller is a nice touch- love the cool feeling under my eyes.

The product itself is nice, no weird chemically smell, isn't too "thick", absorbs into the skin well and sits nicely under makeup (I did pat into the skin after rolling to really work the product in before applying makeup).

Results? I used both day and night for several weeks and by day 8/9 I definitely noticed that my under eyes looked less crepey and my makeup has been sitting better- particularly when I conceal under my eyes.

I will purchase this- I think there are potentially better products out there but bang for buck and longevity I think this is really good and am definitely impressed.

I was lucky enough to be picked by BR to review this product! I am a fan of ground roots skincare, I really believe our skin and complexion starts with how well we look after and nourish it. I’ve been through a very stressful life period recently and had developed noticeable under eye bags to the point where I thought I should buy a good concealer. Instead, I started using this product and they’ve basically packed up and left my face :) I really like the format of this product. The metal roller ball applicator is really calming and relaxing to use. I avoid the eye area with my facial serum and reserve it for this lovely eye serum to do it’s good work. The packaging is what I like, simple and to the point, you know what you’re getting. The roller ball is very functional, my only gripe with it is that it inevitably drips a bit of product elsewhere when you’re applying it. The product itself feels thick and luxurious. Once you’ve massaged it in it is absorbed well by my skin and it feels comfortable to wear. I regret not taking a photo before I started using this product for a side by side comparison but I think my eye area is noticeably firmer and glowier (that’s a word right?). I’ve enjoyed using this product so much that it’s going to be added as a staple to my daily skincare routine. 5/5 would purchase in the future.

I am almost 40, and have combination skin, which can get dry in winter, including around the eye area. My eye area can be sensitive also, and I wear contact lenses. I have used eye creams in the past, but it's been a while.

This eye serum comes in a small blue glass bottle. It has an applicator, which is kind of cross between a dropper and a roller ball. The serum is clear and gel-like, and I haven't noticed any scent.

I have been using this serum morning and night after cleansing and toning my face. It feels nice and cooling to apply the serum with the applicator, but I don't like to rub it in too much, because I don't want to irritate the eye area. So I apply it with the applicator, and rub in with my fingers.

The serum feels hydrating and non-irritating on my skin. However, I did once accidentally get some in one my eyes, and it stung, so be careful!

I'm not sure if it is firming, as I don't have any sagging, fine lines, or wrinkles around my eye area. But it definitely is hydrating, and makeup sits nicely over it. I would recommend!

The La Roche Posay Hyalu B5 Eye Serum arrived in a stylish white box containing a 15ml blue bottle. The serum has a lovely light fragrance. Although the liquid appears blue, its actually clear.

The applicator/dropper contains a massaging roller ball on the end. This makes it very easy it apply the serum. Squeeze all the serum from the dropper before dabbing 3-4 times under your eyes and massaging in small circles. Its very easy to use. Because you use such a small amount, the serum will last a long time.

As a lady of Italian decent, I've always had dark circles and bags under my eyes. In the 3 weeks that I've been using the serum I've noticed a reduction in puffiness and lightning in my dark circles. I'm really looking forward to seeing more improvement in the coming weeks.

The only thing that may stop me using this product is the price, but even then I'd still seriously consider buying it.
