Garnier Pure Active Charcoal Gel Wash Reviews

I was pleasantly surprised with this product, I didn't think i'd like it as much as I did.

Frustratingly i've continued to get blackhead and an oily T spot as i've got older...grrrrrr I thought it was for teens only! More expensive cleansers never seem to do the trick.

This product comes in a sleek black bottle which I loved and a PUMP!! Which is a must for a cleanser in my book. It has a strongish menthol fragrance to it which was very fresh and I really loved it.

The product itself comes out as a black liquid about the consistency of hand wash. Obviously as it's charcoal based the colour didn't come as a surprise.

I really liked it. It left my skin feeling fresh and not tight and I can see a reduction in my blackheads on my nose.

It would possibly be too drying on non oily parts but I think if you get oily patches like me or you have a teen going through 'that stage' it would be perfect. I'm going to get my daughter to try it.

I was very impressed with the results of this gel wash, it really reduced the number of blackheads and made my skin a lot less oily, which is exactly what it claims to do. It took about a week or so to actually notice the results, but it was definitely worth it.

The packaging is fairly standard, plastic bottle with a pump, and the consistency is more on the thin side as far as gel is concerned. It has quite a strong scent, almost like aftershave, but it isn’t too overwhelming and is easy to get used to. You get a decent amount of product and it is definitely worth the price.

It wasn’t as dark as I was expecting, and lathered up quite nicely. I also noticed my makeup stayed matte for a lot longer after using this in the mornings, so that is definitely a bonus for people who have oily skin and wear makeup daily.

Overall I was impressed with the product itself and the results I got from using it, and I’d definitely recommend it to anybody with blackheads or oily skin.

I really appreciate the product comes in a pump. It makes it so easy to use in the shower. But the first thing I notice when I use this product is the fragrance is so strong I have to hold my breath. Not entirely pleasant and I do wish companies just don’t put fragrance in cleansers.

Other than that, it lathers really nicely and you only need half a pump of product to clean your face. It will go a long way.

The biggest thing I noticed about this product was reduction in the appearance of my pores. I mainly tried it to reduce blackheads but pores was the biggest change for me. It did help a little with clearing up my skin but I’m thinking it makes for a better preventative than solution as a week later my current blackheads are still there, just a bit less.

Overall I liked the product. It doesn’t take over as my favourite, but it was still good and I will happily continue to use it.

So I was abit apprehensive with using this to begin with because I usually like to keep away from products that have salicylic acid in it, but I gave it a go and I absolutely love it! Unlike other cleansers I have used, this cleanser doesn't leave my skin feeling dry and tight right after washing. My usual pimple spots have been pretty empty since using this for a week. On else I run out of this bottle I will definitely repurchase.

Firstly, I really like the packaging, simple and the pump top makes things much easier to use. The first thing I noticed when using this product was the smell... Very chemically and artificial. It foams well on the face and does feel like your skin is getting a good clean. It left my skin feeling tingly and cool afterwards which felt like I had washed my face with peppermint or something! Very interesting. Overall, I didn't notice a change in my blackheads. I wouldn't buy this again as I feel it didn't do what it said it would and smelt way to chemically for me.

The black colour was a little off putting at first and kinda scary but I thoroughly enjoyed it! It wasn’t actually black and I found that it tightened up my entire face and was so good for my oily skin. I’m not entirely sure how much it helps with my black heads because I do have quite a few and I don’t think it makes a big difference. I usually find salycilic acid good for my skin as it helps with the acne but anyone who doesn’t have heaps of acne might not find it to be too pleasant.

I was initially excited when I received the Garnier Pure active charcoal gel wash as I have a crazy amount of blackheads and have been looking for a solution. I've only been using it for ten days but I must say I am quite impressed. Theres a tingling sensation as I apply the liquid to my face but I know it's working. I love that it comes out black but when you put it on your face it lathers up and almost goes clear. The packaging is so awesome with it being black, it looks fierce. My skin felt so soft after using this too! Garnier is an affordable but great brand and I love buying from them so I'd recommend overall.

This is a thick gel texture, and you need 2-3 pumps to properly clean your face, especially if you're wearing makeup! Despite having salicylic acid, it's not too intense and doesn't burn your skin. It cleans it thoroughly but not harshly. I used this as a wash daily, some days I wouldn't take my makeup off beforehand. It does a great job of taking makeup off! Don't use it near the eyes though, your eyes will probably get quite dry and will bun a bit. I have oily skin with very small blackheads and a small amount of acne that make it less smooth when applying makeup. I didn't see any extra pimples form while using this except for in the first few days (my skin may have been purging??) so this face wash definitely helped smooth out my skin, and I have noticed that my face is actually a bit less oily!! Amazing! This wash is aimed at people with blackheads, but I think it worked better at clearing acne than it did at clearing blackheads. When you use this, you can tell it is not a gentle cleanser, the active ingredients are quite intense, but it definitely doesn't feel harsh or drying. In fact, when you dry your face after washing it, your skin feels really smooth and soft which is amazing! Definitely recommend this to people with oily and acne/blackhead prone skin!!

This cleanser has a thick consistency and effectivly washes away the day & night's grime. The gel is dark grey but as it lathers it turns white which is fun! The product claims to specifically target blackheads but unfortunately I have not noticed any improvement to mine. Perhaps in conjunction with pore strips or scrub this product may eliminate/prevent blackheads from reforming. I wouldn't reccomend it as an effective blackhead eliminating cleanser. The bottle is very pretty and the size is great! I also love that it's a pump top because it makes it so easy to get the right amount of product out.

I was lucky enough to receive the gel wash through beauty review to test out. I think this was because I was also a tester for the Garnier Pure Active Charcoal 3 in 1 mask. The two had quite a few similarities as they were from the same line I’m pretty sure. The packaging of the gel was nice and simplistic with a black bottle which worked as the main ingredient was charcoal. I did like that it includes salicylic acid, my current natural cleanser doesn’t.

It has the typical smell of Garnier products; pretty sure it was the same or very similar to the mask. The formula was a runny gel but as soon as you put it on your face or rub it together it foams up really easily. However, this increased the smell and it was very strong. I am sensitive to strong smells, so I didn’t really like this. It was really easy to apply though. At first, I would use a couple of pumps foam It in my hands and then rub it over my face. However, as I tried it out over a few days I changed to apply a pea-sized amount to each area of my face and then rub it over once applied. I found that this was the best method to apply it.

The gel felt really hot on my face and tingled sometimes, I wasn’t used to this as before this I was using a natural cleanser (herbalism by lush). I did like that it washed off easy with splashes of water. Once out of the shower and my face was dry, my face felt really dry and tingly for about an hour and I did not like that, it felt really uncomfortable.

In regard to the results, it does help, I found that it brought my acne out the first couple of days and I did notice my skin visibly improving quite quickly. It reduced my active acne and I don’t know to what extent, but I think it reduced my skin redness and scaring visibility too.

Overall, I would keep using the gel until it runs out. However, I’m not sure if I would repurchase it but it would depend on if I get used to the smell/feel once it’s dry. My current cleanser is lush herbalism, so I would need to keep using the charcoal gel wash to be able to compare how both products help me and then make a decision from there.
