I am a big fan of exfoliating and scrubbing my skin, getting all that old skin off and maybe being a little obsessive about being 'cleaner'. I was super excited to get to trial the Mr Bean Coconut Body scrub, as I've been wary of the 'fad' that has been coffee scrubs, but I can honestly say this is my new favourite product!
It feels wonderful to rub the scrub all over your body, and a little on your face. The smell is wonderful... as it's mixed with coconut oil it's not got too much of a coffee smell. I followed the instructions some what, it states to leave it on for five minutes but I'm not good at timing myself in the shower, so I kinda just left it on for as long as I could. Washing it off does leave a massive mess in the shower... like a coffee scented murder scene! In all corners and possibly up some walls too (I'm one of those vigorous shower peeps).
After I washed it off, my skin felt AMAZING. Like seriously, AMAZING!! I have sunspots and tough skin on my décolletage, thanks to being a pale teen but wanting so badly to be a sun baby, I can honestly say the skin on my chest has not felt this way in ages. I'm in love! It's so soft an fresh looking. The rest of my body equally feels amazing. The skin on my arms, stomach and legs just feels great... I am honestly a convert and will be a regular user of coffee scrub. I've even had comments about how the skin on my face seems to be "glowing" a little (I'm chalking that up to the scrub as well).
I don't think I would use the product more than twice a week, as I think it could be a bit too harsh... but definitely a must in any beauty routine.
I have eczema, so I'm always on the lookout for good products. The packaging is gorgeous, very minimal modern monochrome font. It's an Australian brand, but made in China, and claims to be all organic which is a huge plug.
This was a really nice scrub for soothing my skin, and also smells like a divine coffee. How it works is you get your skin wet in the shower, then rub the scrub all over, leaving in for a few minutes before rinsing off.
However, I found it was really messy. It's coarser than most other coffee scrubs and doesn't wash off so easily, so if you're not prepared for this you might spill a lot on the shower floor, or if you haven't rinsed thoroughly you will get it in your towels. If you're looking for a free coffee-scented tan though, this will leave a hint of tint on your skin that you would need very vigorous washing to remove. Generally I use scrubs in a quick shower, but I think with this scrub I would recommend taking your time.
The coffee and coconut oil combination clearly work though, because they definitely leave my skin very soft and not as itchy. If you're okay with spending a bit of time and effort, this works really really well.
Tips: Pour the powder into a jar to make it more manageable to control how fast you're pouring the stuff out as the packaging can be a little difficult to work with in the shower.
