After getting to try the Holy Grail of cleansing brushes (Clarisonic, which wasn't available in NZ at the time) I set off on a mission to find a replacement brush. I'm busy seeking them all down on BR so I can review each and every one.
The Conair is, hands-down, a GREAT product. It's not quite at HG level, but it is really, really good. I purchased mine at half price, as soon as Farmers started stocking them.
The first question I always get asked is, 'But why do you need it? What's it for?'. Two reasons: one, traditional cleansing does not remove all of your make-up, which I was astounded to discover. I'm a religious cleanser, I use oils, coconut oil, cream cleanser... but until you use one of these brushes and see what comes off, you realise there's still a lot left in your pores. Secondly, I get quite dry skin, although that has improved using this brush. It gently removes dead skin, leaving your complexion feeling smooth and buffed, but without feeling stripped or raw.
So how does the Conair perform? Very well. The oscillating/sonic movement is much more effective at removing dirt from pores than some of the spinning/rotating brushes. There are two brush heads, one for face, one for body. I found the facial one just slightly too stiff, and had to use the brush on the low setting. I haven't used the body one. I've found the heads need replacing every 4-6 months, with use three times a week.
I would use the brush more, but I forget to pop it in my gym bag, and even when I shower at home, sometimes I'm a bit rushed. I've found it works best with a simple cream/liquid cleanser, like Cetafil. Whatever you do, don't use it with a microbead/exfoliating cleansers, you'll scrub your skin raw!
There is one downside; the beeping every ten seconds, to let you know to move to a different section of your face. It's quite loud, and can be heard from outside the bathroom. Actually, the brush is quite loud itself, and I would never use it at the gym, in case someone mistook the sound for something else.
If you want to treat yourself, and want to take your cleansing game to the next level, buy one of these. If you can afford the extra dosh to go up a level and buy a Clarisonic, buy one of those.
This is the 2nd automatic facial brush I have used and I love this far more than previous one (which will not be named here).
This is not a rotating brush like the world famous Clarisonic. Instead this is a sonic oscillating brush. It means that this spins back and forth similar to a Oral-B tooth brush but do it in much MUCH faster manner.
This is far better option for you than a rotating brush if you have sensitive skin, since this is less harsh on the skin but still effective.
I use this once a week only, because I use an enzyme scrub and a granular scrub on 2 other days. Scrubbing is a necessary part of your regime but too much scrubbing can be too harsh for the skin to bare. So you have to identify what your skin can handle and work from there.
This comes with a face (pink head) and body (green head) brush attachments. Each one should be replaced within 3-6 months depending on your usage and how you take care of them.
