Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting Face Cream Review

I have really enjoyed using this product over nearly a month of trialing. I apply it every morning and evening as a moisturizer and night cream. The product is great to use as a base layer before applying foundation, tinted moisturizer or sunscreen. It is a thick creamy consistency with very little fragrance which I like. It was a bit hard for me to open the product packaging at first. Since using the product I have noticed that the winter dry skin on my face has gone and my chin area looks firmer. I don't have deep wrinkles so haven't noticed much of a change but overall I definitely feel it has made a difference and will continue using it. I also like that my skin did not react to it which has happened previously using some Olay products.

It's been many years since I have used any Olay products so I was very excited to try this moisturiser and see how their products have developed over that time.

The packaging style and design is in line with the type of skin care brands Olay is comparable to. One thing I did not like so much is the size of the outer box. It is quite wide and twice the height of the actual product, so it evoked a disappointed reaction as the actual product looked so much smaller in comparison when I opened it. It even prompted me to check the product was actually 50g as it looked so small compared to the box!

The product claims the following results: Firms, plumps and reduces wrinkles Day 1 - Visibly reduces pores, improves texture and radiance Day 14 - Noticeably firmer skin Day 28 - Visibly reduces lines and wrinkles It is also formulated without Sulphates, Petrolatum, Phthalates or Mineral Oils, so I was very keen to try it out.

Upon my first application of the product I found it to be a firm textured and smooth cream. As per the directions, only a small amount is required and best applied to the face after warming it between your fingertips, for an even application. It glides on very well and has a lovely smooth texture. It has a pleasant scent, slightly perfumed but not too heavy or overwhelming. I find the cream itself to be of a medium to light, water based type consistency. It would be best suited to those that have a normal to dry skin type, it feels quite hydrating.

My favourite thing about this product is how it pretty much - immediately after application, visibly reduced the appearance of my pores and improved my skin texture. Making it a fantastic, smooth and matte base for my make up application. It absorbs well and is not oily at all. A little goes a long way with this cream so no need to apply very much at all. With the 50g size I would estimate this cream would last at least 3 months or more with a daily application.

I find the cream to be very refreshing on my skin. After using the product every day I do feel my skin is very refreshed and the texture and radiance has certainly improved. By visibly reducing my pores it also has the effect of visibly reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I can't say I have noticed my skin feeling any firmer since using the product but the appearance and texture of my skin certainly has certainly improved.

I would recommend using this product along with the rest of the Olay Regenerist range (night cream, face serum and eye serum) to get the best results of the product range working in harmony together. Overall a very nice, light, fresh feeling day cream which does deliver noticeable results and visibly improves skin texture.

I highly rate this moisturizer, it feels great on the skin and soaks in really well, leaving skin feeling nice and soft with no sticky residue. For the price I think it would be hard to find better. In comparison to other face moisturizers I have tried, and ive tried alot this one ticks all the boxes. It's also easily avaliable for purchase online or in stores.

I don’t enjoy writing negative reviews about products but I know they can be helpful so here we go!

I have enjoyed and loved many Olay products over the years (I’m looking at you Total Effects!) so I was super excited to trial this cream now that I’m getting older and noticing more signs of ageing as each year passes.

So first things first. The packaging. I am absolutely not a fan, I don’t understand why big brands (or any brand for that matter) continue to use jars when it has been shown time and again that the product degrades quicker and oxidises faster when exposed to the air. Not to mention bacteria! I understand that jars can seem “luxurious”, but I would rather have an effective product than something that looks pretty on my shelf.

Now for the cream itself. It smells exactly like Pantene shampoo and it is STRONG. Again - why do companies continue to add strong fragrances to their skin care? Fragrance is a known irritant to the skin and can cause allergic reactions in certain individuals. Some of us can absolutely handle fragrances but just be aware that this contains a very strong scent that can be irritating.

But does the cream work the way it claims to? In my few weeks of using it I’m going to say no. The cream is thick and heavy and while my skin is on the drier side, I found that the texture didn’t allow for good absorption. The scent also lingers which can be overwhelming.

The one benefit I did find from this cream is that is does hydrate the skin. Did I notice a reduction in fine lines? No. Did I notice that my skin looked and felt firmer than before I started using it? Again, no.

Overall this cream is good for one thing only - adding hydration to dry skin. There are plenty of creams on the market that can do that plus more. I passed the cream on to my mother to try for the last few days and so far she’s said that it’s “fine” but is nothing special.

I feel that this would be suited to mature skin aged 60+ that needs added hydration and likes the luxury feeling of fragrance (providing your skin can handle it).

Overall I wouldn’t repurchase this when it runs out and I probably wouldn’t recommended it due to fragrance, packaging and lack of results!

I absolutely love this cream. It is very gentle and calming on my skin. It is really lightweight and a lovely consistency to apply. I love how it doesnt feel cake like and thick on but provides my skin with Spf and leaves it soft and silky.

I have fine wrinkle lines as im entering my 30s this year and have found this has actually reduced these lines to the point where i have been asked if i had filler put in my frown line!!!

I really liked this cream - once I got passed the first week. It's very rich, it's very thick. Some may say its heavy.

My skin is usually very clear, slightly dry, but mostly just normal, ageing skin. I experienced minor breakouts and whiteheads during the first week. They cleared quickly, but none the less, there was a purge.

I persevered because I take trial teams very seriously and I'm glad I did, it's actually a really great cream. In summer I'll likely switch to using it as a night cream only as it is incredibly rich, but I think if you have dehydrated skin or are prone to dry patches you'll really find this beneficial.

I wish brands would stop with the pottle use, but to be fair this is a thick product, a pump wouldn't work. A tube maybe? Anything to stop the ole 'fingers in the pot' problem.

Will I look 10 years younger in 4 weeks? Hmmmm, well if not looking lizardy and dry is the same as 10 years younger; then yes, yes I will!

*First of all I should mention Olay recommends using this product for 28 days to see full results, and this review is due before that time period so effects may vary.

The packaging of this product was quite substantial considering the small product within and instructions were brief; use twice a day, for at least a month to see results. I was excited to get trialling and see these results!

The cream itself has a nice, medium-weight consistency but the scent is very overpowering - think cheap sunscreen moisturiser smell - which I found a little off-putting. I prefer lighter, and more natural scents to this one (after a little more research I discovered they do actually sell un unfragranced one which I would be tempted to try).

I applied the cream in the upwards circle motions as described in the instructions, to my combination skin, morning and night. The first time I used it my skin felt a little bit warm and zingy. I applied my SPF on top and my skin did feel smooth, moisturised, not too greasy and felt hydrated for a good chunk of the day. A little bit of product goes a long way so although the container is on the small side, it should last long enough to see if the claims are true.

As the title says, this feels like silk on my skin. It feels so luxurious and smells like heaven. It keeps my face feeling smooth and soft daily. As I'm in my late 30's I'm conscious of what I put on my face and how it affects me. So far this has been nothing but good! The packaging is sleek and gives an air of sophistication

The only critique I would have is that it comes in a pottle; therefore I used my fingers to scoop it out. I prefer a pump bottle to keep it feeling clean.

First of all this product comes in a real lux packaging that makes it feel like a luxury brand, my only negative about the bottle is you have to put your finger in to scoop out the product so it gets contaminated every time, yes you could use a tool to get the product out. The moisture is such a beautiful texture and absorbs into your skin quickly, I used this both during the day and as a night cream, my makeup stayed out during the day with using this. I did prefer it as a night cream as I felt like it then did it’s thing overnight.. would definitely recommend and as someone who usually purchases dermalogica I now know I can save a little money and still get a great product.

Like other products a large pretty box containing the jar inside. I opened this box late the first night and this allowed my sense of smell to really give me an indication of the product. The smell reminds me of my nana, a faint floral scent, similar to a rose. My first thought old lady smell - nooooo I'm not an old lady hahaha. The cream was thick on my fingertips and so I was worried what it would be like on the face. Surprisingly it glided on fairly well. I haven't noticed any improvement, but now I'm getting added bumps on my jawline (so that's not cool). I decided to read the packaging closer and saw the usual doesn't contain blah blah blah. But then thought it didn't say not contain parabens. Hmmmm so I scanned the main ingredient list and there it was - parabens. So that was the end of that. I'm ok with most chemicals in products, but not parabens. So sorry this product i wouldn't purchase, just on this.
