Tips: If the edges of your mouth don’t heal up see a dr it may not be dryness but a little bacteria or fungal infection.
These lip balms come in a range of scents/flavours my personal favourite is red velvet cupcake. These chapsticks go on my lips very smoothly and do not make them feel sticky or heavy like some other lip balms. It is great to know that they also protect my lips from getting sunburnt as not many lip balms do these days.
I love this Chapstick more than any other lip balm I've used. My old go to was blistex but now this is my go to. Although if I miss a day putting it on my lips get really chapped regardless of how much water I drink.
I love a good lip balm and tend to have one in every pocket of every bag so when an event at work left over 100 of these on my desk I was over the moon. Till I wasn’t.
There are so many amazing balms in tilions of awesome shapes and flavours that leave your lips feeling ever so decadent. To be honest I’m probably a bit spoilt in this department as I got really bored with this product very quickly and ended up giving them away by the handfuls.
The cherry flavour is nice and it applies smoothly but I found it needed to be applied far more often than some of the liquid type lip balms I’ve used. It does work to soften lips overall but only when used continuously. It’s a good old classic style lip balm that you can return to but the market has moved forward with some phenomenal products and I found this little chapstick to be left behind.
As I said, maybe I’ve been spoilt for choice. I’d use it again but I would purchase others products over this for sure.
Not once did any of the sticks damage in my bag though, so that is a redeeming factor!
I use chapstick all year round, the strawberry with spf. Over the years I have tried others and use others for under lipstick etc... but have to say in my opinion chapstick has my top vote for just protecting my lips and keeping them hydrated.
In winter I find it protects my lips from winter dryness and wind burn. Walking every day I am at least outside for 1 hour every day. Summer same. It keeps my lips nicely moisterised. It doesn't give me that shriken lip feel (which I find really annoying with other products). No sunburn. I am never without one in my handbag, pocket etc... and apply regularily throughout the day.
My boys get chapsticks every Christmas in their stockings, around this time of the year they have "buy 1 get one free" packs which are great!
I also find the texture to be very versatile and strong, nothing worse than using a lip balm and it breaks :( Never found this to happen with Chapstick.
This is my forever lip balm. The strawberry suits me perfectly, other flavours/textures not so.
Tips: Look out for the 2 for 1 packs out around Christmas :)
I absolutely love this chapstick, I started using it because of dry lips and when I spent time in the sun, I would break out in cold sores on my lips everytime. Since I started using chapstick I have not had a single cold sore on my lips again! I have been using it for 10 years now and won't be stopping anytime soon, and of course, there are the flavoured sticks now. Cherry is my favorite, it adds color to yous lips and moisturizes them too.
Tips: Apply throughout the day, for optimum coverage.
I hate the flavour of these, it had a weird bitter aftertaste that really longers. I also don't find they hydrate as well as many othrs- they have a tendency to just sit on my lips. They're okay if your lips aren't chapped, but if you're dry or flakey they just aren't enough. the strawberry one burns my lips and gives me a flakey rash :(
Tips: avoid if you tend to react to fragrances like me.
I know this is a classic lip care product but I have to say this is a hard pass for me. Chapstick is no longer the best quality lip balm on the market in my humble opinion. I purchased the strawberry one from my local pak n save. Its a classic so you have high expectations but found this to just be a sticky, soft mess that went everywhere. I felt like the product went all over my mouth and didn't just stay on my lips. It did moisturize my lips but the constancy was just so off putting I won't be repurchasing this.
I have recently purchased the new 'Chapstick total hydration: tinted rose' which is 8.99NZD In my opinion, it is not the most hydrating tinted lip balm. The balm is quite dense and does not apply on dry lips as smoothly as other softer lip balms (which is not the quality I expected for that price). But the colour I chose give a nice natural rosy tone to my lips so I tend to use it when I want a natural look. Quite like how they upgraded their label quality, from the cheap plastic label (that I can never cut clean just around the top) to actually clean print on the case. :)
Tips: I prefer to hydrate my lips first with softer balm (eg. paw paw), then apply the tinted chapstick on the top for that healthy-looking rosy lips.
I used the classic lip balm and it smelt really strange, I don't feel it did much for my lips other than make them shiny, product was difficult to get out and a lot had to be applied to hydrate lips.
