I really like this product. The smell is a bit weird but I dont mind it. It's a small bottle for the price but a little goes a long way. I love how smooth and silky it feels. Great for those winter months when your skin just needs a little extra help.

They say smell is very individual and this really proves it. Reading through the other reviews of this serum I see people loved the smell. However our skin chemistry contributes to how a product smells and... on me this serum smells like wet dog! I used it on my face once, then lay in bed unable to get to sleep for the unpleasant smell.
The next day I wondered if I was just exaggerating. I smelt the bottle and it didn't smell so bad, so I put some on my hand. And there it was, the overwhelming scent of wet dog.
I'm very sad as I LOVE Antipodes products, but I'll be passing this one on to my sister!
Tips: Try to get a mini to sample before you commit to the full-sized product.
This was on my wishlist. I would've bought this eventually so, I was really lucky to win this on a facebook giveaway. I love most of Antipodes products and their Hosanna Serum is a staple in my nightly routine so going through a matchy phase that likes pairing products from the same brand together I really wanted to layer this over the Hosanna Serum. First of all I love, love, love the berry scent of this. I almost don't want to wear a night cream or overnight masque because it takes away from the delicious berry smell. Secondly, I was pleasantly surprised by the texture of this oil. Some more anti-aging oils are thicker and greasier, I don't enjoy wearing them. This is very moisturizing but not really heavy or thick. It doesn't make me breakout like some heavier anti-aging facial oil blends and my skin feels like it's getting a luxurious treat and moisturized. It doesn't sink in as fast as say rosehip oil or jojoba oil and there is a thin film left on my face even if I wait an hour or before I apply my night cream or overnight masque. But although my skin is oily, it's not an uncomfortable greasy feeling. I really like that this serum is comprised of natural ingredients - blackcurrant oil, goji berry extract, raspberry seed oil, hibiscus flower extract and reishi mushroom extract, even the gorgeous scent comes from essential oil frangrances of blackcurrant. I have been using this facial oil for three months now and I have just under a quarter of the bottle left. My skin has been loving it through winter. I think in summer and late spring this would be too heavy for my skin but it really has been hitting the spot for winter. I've used after doing peels and using exfoliators that would make my skin a bit more sensitive and it hasn't irritated it just soothed it and added more moisture. I haven't seen any drastic skin improvements or brighter, fresher skin since using this except my skin has retained moisture but it doesn't promise much except to moisturize and nourish your skin and it does that really, really well and feels luxurious. So if you are looking for something to brighten your skin you're best looking for something else. But if you're looking for a really moisturizing but not greasy facial oil and love the scent of berries, this might be worth a try. I won't be repurchasing this for spring or summer but next winter I will love to go back to using this nightly.
Tips: Definitely give this oil a feel with store testers. It's not cheap so you definitely want to make sure it's a product you'd enjoy. Antipodes does have sales online or at Farmers occasionally. I wait till there's a really good gwp or a 2 for 3 special to buy the more expensive Antipodes items. This works really well paired with the Antipode's Hosanna Serum to hydrate and moisturize your skin. I have sometimes gone to bed without using a night cream or overnight masque with this on and I didn't wake up with dry skin. So if you have combo or normal slightly dry skin you may be able to use this and not need a night cream. I like to wait awhile after applying this to apply my overnight masque or nightcream so my skin has more of a chance to soak this up, but if it's late and I'm tired I just use this.
I'm very frugal, but I have an amazing friend who gave me the mini set, and I love this oil! A little goes all over my face and I have a soft, hydrated skin in the morning. Because my skin is not dry, it's more oily - combination, I get best results using this 3 nights a week and the moisturiser on the other 4 nights. I hate the fact I am going to have to wedge open my wallet and buy some soon, it's just too good not to have!
I bought this serum and the night cream from Healthpost ages ago as minis and can’t remember how much they cost.
This lovely serum comes in a small dropper bottle, pretty standard for serums. It has the Antipodes name and gold leaf.
The product is clear and drops onto the skin like a thin oil. It has a lovely aroma that you can smell as soon as you open the bottle.
Once on the skin it absorbs easily and leaves a soft shine on the skin. I follow it with the Antipodes Avocado Pear Night Cream, and my skin feels lovely when I go to bed.
The product contains gorgeous ingredients such as Himalayan Goji Berry, Red Raspberry Seed Oil, Blackcurrant and Hibiscus, which account for the lovely feel and smell of the product. This really is THE one, of all the serums and oils I've tried. I am not exaggerating, it is absolutely fabulous. The smell alone is addictive!
The serum is $57 for the full size and is kind of pricey, even for a serum. But I do love it, so will repurchase it myself.
Tips: Tip:I recommend buying the anti-aging minis for anyone who would like to try the night cream and serum together.
I brought this in the Mini Anti-Ageing night pack for $20 and it’s a brilliant way to try out Antipodes products. This serum is seriously moisturising for my ageing skin. My skin has really taken a battering this winter for some reason and I’m really noticing the fine lines, sagginess coming on and loss of bone structure around my jaw.
All in all it’s actually rather depressing and I need to get this addressed with some effective products. I am quite happy to pay more for a product that works and although Antipodes products aren’t inexpensive I will buy some of this when it runs out if it continues to moisturize my skin so well. It also smells really nice, not overpowering, very natural which is a big thing for me.
It is absorbed very quickly unlike some of the other oil based serums, but maybe my skin is just thirsty. All in all a very nice product and one that I would recommend to my (very fussy!) friends and relatives. I’m even going to order some for a friend in the UK, as a treat for her birthday. If it’s good enough for Catherine it’s good enough for me. If only I lived in that world lol ;)
Tips: Buy the trial sized anti ageing products in the $20 box. It's a fabulous way to get to trial this product.
I am becoming such an Antipodes junkie, some of their products are just so fabulous!
I received a mini 10ml bottle of this in a little gift pack for christmas and have fallen in love with it.
The packaging is natural and cute looking and comes in a handy dropper bottle.
At first I found it quite strong smelling but I have gotten used to it and now really like the smell- it is quite natural, fruity and botanical.
I apply 4 drops to my face every night after cleansing and toning and WOW this stuff makes my skin feel incredible! So soft and smooth! My skin has also been looking really glow-y in the morning.
I work outside in the heat 40 hrs a week and my skin gets quite dry (despite a hat and loads of sunscreen) so my skin just drinks this up.
I am not looking forward to my wee bottle running out as I absolutely MUST buy this again and the full sized bottle is quite expensive. This wee one is lasting really well though so it will be worth it!
Tips: The mini night pack available from health stores, Farmers & pharmacies is a brilliant way to try out this beauty!
I was given a bottle of the Joyous serum and fell in love. Simple packaging but that is where the simple stops. This is a light oil type substance in a small brown glass bottle with a glass applicator. The serum has a fragrance which is heavier than that of the night cream and is stronger smelling but it has a very 'natural' and unoffensive fragrance which is slightly on the sweet side and lasts a while after application. The serum is readily absored avoiding oily pillows! I have honestly never applied a serum that appears to work as well. My skin is generally fairly dry and since I have been using the serum it seems to have rehydrated my skin and does give the appearance of looking 'fresher'. Great to use as an evening pick me up, particularly when you are tired or stressed. I cannot compare it with any other serum I have used as quite frankly it is in a class of it's own. Serums are expensive so although it is pricey it is relatively inexpensive as far as serums go. I will definitely use it again. Very impressed.
Made in NZ, the packaging is lovely gold and black and yes it makes you want to pick it up and have a look at it. Inside is a 30 mill dark brown glass bottle with a black eye drop applicator a bit of gold around the lid very attractive. Natural ingrediants, organic and vegetarian, does have an expirey date on the box, the serum is a golden silky oil, a sweet fragrance it does smell of berries and hibiscus. The fragrance does linger and I found it a we bit overbearing so did avoid putting it on around my nose. A fast absorbing serum that you apply at night. I cleanse apply the serum and then my moisturiser. This is a very soothing serum on my skin, I put it on in upward strokes, I do my face and neck. The more you use this serum the less you need I started off with the dropper filled and now it's around halfway. I do love a serum and this is nice and moisturising and my skin does feel soft afterwards and always hydrated in the morning. I haven't noticed my skin looking any more radiant but more hydrated and fresher looking. It does last and you don't need much not to bad price wise.
My skin needed a lift in the winter months and I was looking for a serum to add into my night time routine. I’m glad I bought this, I apply it after using my toner and then wait for it to sink in and use the Antipodes rosehip and avocado oil afterwards, then a moisturiser to lock it all in. This serum has helped to improve my skin texture to look bouncier and brighter in combination with the other products in my routine. I enjoy the smell and the texture is light enough to sink in well.
Tips: Great for winter!
