Elizabeth Arden 8 Hours of Repair if U Leave it On

I have sensitive skin and chapped areas and itchy scaly patches and a balm is really handy to have on hand for this, however a lot of the time they come in a pot and I honesty prefer a tube. I was delighted when a sympathetic friend gave me a tube even though it was mostly empty.

This balm is amazing for calluses and dry patches. Now before you slathering this on your face you should know that the texture is more of vaseline like balm. It's very good at leaving a bit of a seal or barrier between your skin and the elements. So while I would use this on my hands and knees, elbows and feet and lips (though honestly given the price of this I prefer to just use a lip balm), I would be hesitant to use this on my face as it could block my pores and contribute to a break out. It does have a bit of salicylic acid in it but lots of petroleum, lanolin and mineral oil. So keep that in mind.

As for the scent if you didn't like the chemically apricot scent of the original you could give this one a try, although I will let you know that it still smells a lot to me at least, like a tube of vaseline and lanolin just minus the apricot scent.

I think the main bonus with this product for me is the convenience of the tube and how it's a barrier cream. I have used a lot more balms, mainly without petroleum and mineral oil and so I'm probably less wowed with this product than I was when I first discovered 8-hour cream skin protectant. I think the unique factor as to why this performs the way it does in comparison to my other balms is because it has petroleum and mineral oil. So given that I think I could get similar results using a more affordable balm containing those ingredients. But then that's just my thoughts and theory.

Tips: Where this product really shines for me is at night when I apply it to calluses and dry, scaly discolored skin on my knee and the next day the calluses are much softer and my knees are back to their normal color. The tube is handy for during the day and it's a multipurpose product but if you're going to wash it off it's not going to be as magical.

I need more results

I have used this for the last few months and bought it with the Nighttime Miracle cream (pot). I must say however that my dry skin is a bit underrated to be called dry, I believe that it is dehydrated! LOL. When I used this the first night, I felt that the thickness of this cream was what my skin desperately needed, so even though it had a thicker consistency than what I usually used, I didn't mind. But if I am in a rush, I will not use this and switch back to my regular one, which is Bio-Oil. Each time I use this, the dryness is somehow relieved, but in my opinion, the result is not as long-lasting as bio-oil would be for me. I gave it a go and stuck with this product for an entire two weeks, just so I could have my result and have a basis, but it did not last long either. So now, I use this occasionally, and eventually, it ended up not being my go-to brand whenever I have that ultimate dehydrated skin condition. LOL. Also, it is fragrance-free, but I, unfortunately, didn't experience the fragrance-free either. To me, it does come with its very distinct smell. I wouldn't say it is terrible or great, but it has a specific distinctive scent that I don't mind. I wouldn't mind if it goes completely!

Tips: Try to see if you have a friend or know someone with this product and try it so you can see it for yourself first before you buy it. It may be worth trying it first. You may like it and have different results yourself, too. In terms of application, I usually would apply this as soon as I finish with my shower and then reapply in the late afternoon to early evening, but I haven't done this more than twice a day. Maybe it is something I should also think about.

Great barrier cream, more effective than vaseline

I have dry, sensitive, eczema prone skin and I love this product as a barrier cream. I mainly use it weekly after heavily moisturising my face at night to “lock in” and deeply hydrate my face. Also works great on burns, and dry lips (after a layer of chapstick/balm).

Very similar consistency to baseline/Lucas paw paw ointment.

Main negative would be the price point.

Tips: Formula is an ointment, so can take some time to absorb. Best used at night on top of moisturiser and serums.
