When I last visited a Lush store in person I saw this soap and was immediately drawn to the gorgeous display. A slightly muted bright pink pillar of soap was cut on an angle to show off the vibrant green on the inside. While both the pink and green are bright, the green definitely outshines the pink. There is also a pattern in the green soap, which reminds me of broken pieces of candy cane.
The scent of this soap is peppermint, mainly, with a sweet hint of maple syrup. The two complement each other well, as the maple syrup takes away the sharpness of the peppermint, making it a sweet minty delight. If you like smells that remind you of Christmas, or candy canes, then this is definitely up your alley.
I only used it as a hand soap as I hate soap on my body, but I thought it lathered quite well, and the smell lingered for a good amount of time. I found it slightly drying, compared to other soaps, but I couldn’t stop smelling it so I never stopped using it. I haven’t repurchased and I probably won’t, but not because of a fault in the soap – there are just more scents I like more.
When I first smelled the Lush Maypole Soap I was in-store and I hated it! It smelled WAY too strongly and not very nice. However, for whatever reason I decided to give it a proper try and order it from the last Beauty Vault. And I was SO glad that I did! I think in the store the scent of Maypole had just been confused with the millions of other scents wafting around and I hadn't been able to properly discern it. On its own — wow. This is a LOVELY soap with the nicest fragrance.
I expected it to be super minty, as per the description, but it was also sweet, almost like ice cream? The mint wasn't too overpowering, and the scent overall was just creamy and girly and perfect. I love how this soap looks, too — the colours are so pretty and the detail Lush goes to with the soap noodles is so cool. It lathers well, lasts well. The only possible critique I might have is that it seems slightly more drying than other Lush soaps like Sultana of Soaps. But nothing major. A!
