Reviews
I purchased the Olay Oil Minimizing Skin Toner (which is apparently previously called the Refreshing Toner, boy did that have me confused until I googled it!) partly because it was on sale, partly due to the fact that I have always enjoyed Olay's range of products, and partly because finding a decent toner is really hard to find! The one I purchased contains witch hazel, so maybe they revamped the formula? I couldn't find the original about. Otherwise I could just be completely mistaken and reviewing the wrong thing!
Anyyywaayyy, Olay's toner comes in quite a large bottle. After reading a recommendation from another reviewer for a different toner, I applied it by pouring some into a spray bottle and then lightly spraying my face after cleansing, and using a cotton pad to disperse this across my skin. I found that this method did seem to use a lot less product and was quite refreshing, especially after a hot shower.
A lot of toners I have used before left my skin feeling stripped, tight and overly dry. This toner instead just left my skin feeling soft and very clean. I did find that when I used it after exfoliating my skin, it did sting a little but it wasn't for long or that painful, just something to bare in mind if you have quite sensitive skin.
Overall, I'm really glad I bought this toner. I haven't been using it long, but so far I do feel as though it is helping combat my oily skin and helping keep it nice and clean.
Tips: I would definately recommend the spray bottle application! Why is toner not sold like this? DON'T spray it near your eyes (okay, maybe that's why?), but otherwise so handy.
I hAve had the same bottle for so long! Leaves your skin clean and fresh feeling without feeling tight. Another great olay product
Tips: I use mine with a cotton pad which is great for making sure your makeup is definitely all gone
I recently purchased a pack of 3 Olay Oil Minimizing Toner with Witch Hazel 212ml (formerly known as Olay Essentials Refreshing Toner) from my favourite sale website NZSale for a really crazy price!
However, once the toners actually arrived, I had a quick look at the ingredients and realised that it contains ALCOHOL. That's a big no-no as I have acne-prone/blemished skin. The smell is really really strong as well.
On the other hand, this toner makes a really effective make-up remover. I usually dip a cotton stick in the toner and remove that ugly smudge from eyeliner or eyeshadow on the skin when doing make-up in a hurry (oopsie, my clumsy hands!)
All in all, I won't hurry to dispose these toners just yet!
Tips: The bottle has a rather large opening so be careful not to use excessive force to pour out the product.
Just tilt the bottle at a slight angle for very small amount on cotton swabs or dip your cotton stick in the toner to get the product.
It’s a good toner, and i would use it again. I just wish it was in a spray bottle, as it’s really refreshing yet gentle on sensitive skin. This would be great to spray on face and neck on really warm days aswell.
I bought this product on sale, so it was great value! Loved the subtle fragrance and it lifted even my eye makeup away, without any scrubbing - a great cleanser.
